Coffee Break: Blue Blazer, Tee, and Sneakers...

Happy Friday guys!

I hope everyone is having a great week!

I have a very casual look for today, but it is one that is on constant repeat in my closet! Sometimes I ditch the blazer depending on the heat and the time of day, and the occasion!

But for a coffee run, it is perfect!

These biker shorts have been life savers this summer! I just cannot get enough of them!

I personally love pairing them with bigger, baggier shirts for a grungy, laid back look. But I have also paired them with crop tops.

I have another idea that I am going to play with coming up.

Today, I just paired it with a slightly oversized white tee and a crisp blue blazer!

I love how a solid blazer can really dress up even biker shorts!

But since this look was for a coffee run and the rest of the day was spent shooting, I kept it casual and paired the look with sneakers.

Very comfortable sneakers! =D

I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend ahead! Be safe if you plan on celebrating for the 4th early!

And thank you for reading! I really appreciate you guys!

See you on Monday! =D

Out and About in Seattle: One Day, Two Museums...

Buckle up guys! This has potential to be a long one!

Today I am sharing with you some of the places we went while we were in Seattle. Of course, you heard about the Space Needle trip, and where we ate while we were there. But today I'm sharing about some of the other fun things we did while there.

First up is the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum. I had never heard of this before. Apparently, my Dad's childhood best friend, who is an artist himself, worked with or studied this guy, Dale Chihuly. I believe that is how my Dad knew of it. It was amazing!

Absolutely stunning!

Apparently Dale Chihuly is widely known in the blown glass field and for moving into large-scale sculptures.

"I want people to be overwhelmed with light and color in some way they've never experienced." -Chihuly

That quote is spot on. Each exhibit was so uniquely different from the next and through the use of color and light, made you feel differently.

One was full of bright, vibrant colors that made me feel as though I was a part of ocean life. There was another hanging piece that featured red and orange colors and had me more in the mind of fall.

There was another that used softer lights and colors and made me think of a table set for a warm dinner party.

Each were incredibly intricate and stunning!

The same day we also visited the Museum of Pop Culture!

This one was enjoyable because it had something for everyone! My Dad was excited for the guitar exhibit, my sister and I both enjoyed the horror and fantasy exhibits which featured props and costumes from movies like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Walking Dead, The Wizard of Oz, and many others. And my mom really enjoyed the History of Hip Hop exhibit!

Just kidding! That wasme and my sis also! ;)

There were props and costumes from the original Star Trek series that my mom was interested in!

Above was the actual costumes worn in The Wizard of Oz. And to the left is a prop used in The Matrix (which is now on my watch list!)

It was not really a surprise to learn that Bert Lahr (the actor who played the cowardly lion in The Wizard of Oz) found it very hard to perform in the lion costume. Apparently, was already very heavy and hot, but add on the lighting on top of that, and he found it very difficult to perform.

We also got to see THE sorting hat! Ya, know, from Harry Potter! I got some pictures, but there were glares on most of them. Sigh.

I was pretty excited to see the prop walker heads, used in The Walking Dead. In fact, I was able to guess the exact episode that the heads were used in! That exhibit proved to be a bit too much for poor Pops. He hurried away! xD

Picture
Picture
It was a day full of walking and a lot to absorb but it was so fun!

The artistic side of me really enjoyed the Chihuly exhibits but the Museum of Pop Culture really allowed my inner nerd to roam free! My only suggestion? Britney NEEDS to have her own exhibit!

I am just so grateful for this experience with my family! It was a trip I will never forget! That is for sure!

If you find yourself in the Seattle area and are looking for something to do? I highly recommend either or both of these museums! It is fun for the whole family!

Thanks for reading! See you Friday!

Sculptures in the Park: Leggings, Crop, and Oversized Denim...

Hello and Happy Monday!

I hope you all are well!

This is probably my final outfit of the day post for my Seattle trip! For anyone wondering, I wore white boohoo.com sweats and a blue crop top for the flight there and Fabletic leggings and a Seattle t-shirt, and boohoo.com sweatshirt for the ride home. I made the mistake years ago of dressing really nice -think really tall, skinny heels!- to the airport. And well long story short, I found myself running through the airport in Atlanta to catch a connecting flight and it was miserable.

So, this time I went super casual and I was very comfortable! xD
Picture

I was impressed with myself, for my looks in Seattle! They turned out pretty stylish, warm, but most of all COMFORTABLE!

We pretty much walked everywhere in Seattle, so comfort was definitely a priority!

Today's look I actually wore on the second day we were in Seattle. We headed out to the Chihuly Glass Museum and ended up getting there a little too early. So, while we waited for it to open, my mom and I found this set of sculptures in the park nearby and began getting some shots in.

We made a pretty good team! The shots came out really well! I had fun, being goofy and trying different poses, and my mom was a real trooper. She just kept clicking away!

Of course there was a fountain nearby -you guys know I have a love for foutains!- so we got some there as well.

We even got my sister in on the fun, taking some behind-the-scenes videos of me and mom's photoshoot. I think she thought I had really lost my mind when I told her what I wanted her to do! xD

This maybe my final outfit of the day post from Seattle, but I still have plenty more other things to share! On Wednesday, I will be sharing more about the Chihuly Glass Museum and the Museum of Pop Culture. They were both really interesting, but the Chihuly Glass exhibits were unbelievably beautiful!

I'm excited to share that one with you!

Thank you so much for reading! I will see you Wednesday! Have a great week ahead! =D

Murals and Staircases: Sweater Dress and Rain Coat...

Hello and Happy Friday!

I feel like I brought the Seattle weather home with me... oops! Although to be fair, it did not really rain this much in Seattle! It was cloudy a lot, yes, and drizzled/misted off an on. But it did not downpour like it has been here!

Packing for Seattle was a little on the challenging side. Mainly because I had not had to pack for a trip in years, so my packing skills were a little rusty. I had begun to plan in my head what I would wear each day. And I ended up having it all planned out! Unfortunately, I was planning for Charlotte temps. Shorts, sundresses, skirts, sandals... you get the idea.

Then I checked the forecast for Seattle for the weekend. It was only predicted to be in the upper 50's, lower 60's and cloudy most of the days we were there. So, I had to rethink my packing situation!
Picture

I think I actually did a pretty good job all in all! I was comfortable and warm for the trip. Even the blue dress I wore to the Space Needle was pretty comfortable! I wore this rain jacket over top of it later in the day.

For today's look, this sweater dress is a dream! It is one of my most favorite purchases in a long time! It is soft, warm, and you can wear it as a dress OR a sweater. It buttons all the way down.

My original plan, was to wear it as a duster/sweater over jeans and a baggy tee. I wore it that way for brunch, but then I had the idea of wearing it as a dress, with the jacket. I'm glad I did! I like it a lot better and it was a lot more comfortable.

The white tennis shoes were a nice touch too. I found them on Shein.com and scooped them up. They fit like a glove and this trip was their first outing ever and they were fantastic! I did not get blisters, my feet were pretty comfortable all day -we did a lot of walking!

Picture
Picture
Early on on our trip, we had passed by this area that was on a steep hill and had a lot of staircases, fountains, and this cute mural! I wanted to stop then and get shots in, but we were on a mission at the time so we made a mental note to come back to it.

Sunday, we came back to it! My sis and I were on our way to the aquarium and stopped for a few shots. She did a great job too taking pictures! I was impressed!

It was a beautiful area! Very chic! There were strings of lights, trees, fountains, sitting areas -plenty of scenic places to get some great shots in! And I was very pleased with what we came up with!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a great weekend ahead! =D

Out and About: In Seattle! Places We Ate in Seattle!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

I'm still really tired from the flight last night, so I'm just going to jump right into this post!

I wanted to share some of the places we ate at during out Seattle stay!

I'm starting out with my hands-down favorite -Dahlia Bakery! We went there Sunday morning for breakfast before we went exploring a bit, before my parents left for their cruise. They have the best avocado toast I have ever had!

I got that and a latte and enjoyed both thoroughly. The rest of my family got a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich which they all really enjoyed. We liked it so much, my sis and I went back the next day for brunch again.

Beginning at 11AM it becomes a shared space with another restaurant called, Serious Pie, and both are owned by the same guy. Apparently, it is home to a world famous coconut cream pie. We did not ever try that, but it looked really delicious!

Picture

Our first meal in Seattle was at Zeek's Pizza.

It was after our trip to the Space Needle, and I won't lie, I was DRAGGING. I guess the lack of sleep from the night before, the excitement from going to the Space Needle, and the time difference.

When we sat down for lunch at Zeek's it all hit me and I felt really tired during and after lunch.

Picture

But being tired did not stop me from fully enjoying lunch at Zeek's!

It felt like a mom-and-pop shop in the middle of a bustling city. The waitress was charming and very friendly. And the pizza was mouthwatering!

It had the right about of crunch to it! If that makes sense! It definitely did not taste like pizza at a restaurant chain!

The giant slice also came with a side salad. I got a Greek salad and both made for the perfect lunch before an afternoon of walking around and exploring. It was filling but not terribly heavy.

I highly recommend Zeek's if ever you find yourself in Seattle!

Picture
Picture
Margaux was where we had dinner that first day in Seattle. It was right around the corner from our hotel, which was great because by that point I was REALLY dragging! (It was rough that first day, guys!)

It was a beautiful place and very fancy! It was a French restaurant that connected with another hotel.

It was very good, but fair warning it is a bit on the pricey side.

I opted for the least expensive option, which was a chicken Caeser salad, which was good. But I do kind of wish I had opted for the fish and chips like my sister did!
Picture
Another place we hit, was called Yard House, where my sister and I split a plate of amazing Poke Nachos! The food was good and the atmosphere was very modern. But it was LOUD inside. So loud that it was a bit hard to carry on a conversation. Of all the places we ate at, it was not my favorite for that reason alone.

But we could not leave Seattle without grabbing an original cup of coffee in a local coffee shop! The first cup I got in Seattle was at Ceres Roasting Company! I got another latte and sipped it with a cookie of sorts that my Mom got from the same place. It was delicious!

Thank you for reading and I will see you Friday, for another Seattle post! =D

A View From the Top: Seattle Style Part 1...

Hello and Happy Monday!

From Seattle!

I'll be heading back home later today, but I'm typing this post from my hotel in Seattle!

What a trip it has been so far! I cannot hardly believe we made it here! Day one was spent at the Space Needle -which was my main reason for going! That was where majority of the pictures for this post were taken. From the top!

It is breathtaking!

There were glass benches that you could sit on that leaned out slightly at the top of the Space Needle. I decided -after seeing someone else do it- to stand up on those benches for some great shots above the city. It was so nerve-wracking! But also, so worth it!
Picture

For the look, I had been envisioning wearing this blue dress to the top of the space needle for months!

Pretty much since we planned the trip!

I just felt like it would be so gorgeous to have blowing in the wind, or twirling. You guys know how I love to twirl!

I did not get any great twirling videos, but I think the shots came out phenomenally!

My mom and my sister were my photographers on this trip and they were great sports! My mom got really into it. She was pointing out places to shoot, directing me, and trying out all sorts of angles! It was a lot of fun!

The sandals I wore were very comfortable as well!

We have been walking ALOT. Pretty much everywhere. And those sandals were perfect! I also brought some sneakers that were great too, but you will see them later on!

We also went on a ferry ride where a tour guide pointed out different Seattle spots and talked about their history as well as fun facts and a bit of Seattle trivia.

For lunch we stopped in at a local pizza place called Zeke's Pizza. It was delicious! It came with a large slice of pizza and a Greek salad. Then for dinner later, we hit a French place called, Marguax. It was pretty fancy! A bit on the pricy side too, so I stuck with a Caeser salad. But it was tasty! And after a long day, I was exhausted, so thankfully it was just around the corner from our hotel.

I hope you enjoyed this post! It is one of 3 (maybe 4) of our Seattle trip!

I cannot wait to share more with you!

Have a great week!

Up in the Air: Lounge Set and Mini Bag...

Hello and Happy Friday!

It is going to be a quick post today, because I'm actually typing this out Thursday before heading to the airport!

It occurred to me -almost last minuet- that if I did not prep this early, I would be doing it after a 5-and-a-half-hour flight and potentially at 12am or later.
Picture

Picture
I wanted to keep today's look simple and comfortable! But at the same time chic!

This is what I came up with!

A lounge set from Shein, sandals, and the cutest, tiniest bag I've ever owned!

The lounge set I had been eyeing for a while. I kept seeing them pop up on ads and other blogs and found them to be really cute! Finally, I decided to try it out myself. I got this one and another one which I will share with you later.

The bag was from Walmart actually and it was an impluse purchase! I saw it and the size of it was so stinkin cute! I had to at least try it out!

My mom thought it was ridiculous and I mean... she maybe right! But I love it!

I do want to find a chain or strap so I can make it a crossbody or shoulder bag though.

Picture

Thank you so much for reading and wish me luck! I am about to get on a plane for the first time in almost 13 years? Maybe? Give or take?  I'm very nervous but also very excited!

See you guys in Seattle!

Have a safe weekend!

Birthday Fun: Black and White, Off-the-Shoulder, Mini Dress...

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

It is my birthday! Woo-hoo!

I used to get really sentimental on my birthday. Birthdays and New Years! But it used to be more of a bittersweet feeling. It was a really fun day, but it went by so fast and now is over. But last year and this year I feel much more optimistic. I feel happy for the day, grateful for all of the relationships in my life and for another year, and excited for the year to come!

And this year is especially exciting because tomorrow we will be packing up and heading off to Seattle! I'm truthfully a bit nervous about the trip. Mainly the flight. But I feel like I have let fear rob me of so many opportunities already, I am not going to let it rob me of this one!
Picture

On to the birthday look!

I had been seeing this dress -and variations of this dress- on NastyGal.com for a long time! And each time I always had to urge to scoop it up!

I could not honestly tell you what made me decide to finally do it, but I did!

I personally LOVE it! I feel like there is so much character in this dress! I love the off the shoulder sleeves!

I really wanted to style it with fuchsia heels and bag, but I could not find either that matched what I had envisioned. But black, strappy heels and a bright red clutch work nicely too!

Picture
Shooting this look took some planning! My family was not overly impressed with the dress, which kind of bummed me out. So, I began asking other people their opinions. I would say most people really seemed to like it. And I was already emotionally invested in it (kidding! Kind of...) so I decided I was going to keep it and love it.

I do realize it is a bit... extra. More so than most looks that I shoot. I did not really want to try and shoot it in the middle of the day when people would be out and about, and I might draw more attention to myself.

So, instead, I got up extremely early and headed out. It worked out great! No one was really around, I got some great shots, and I was back home by 11am. One thing I will say about this dress, the fabric is a bit heavy and warm! I was sweating by the time I left!

Thank you so much for reading! I really appreciate you guys being on this journey with me! =)

See you Friday!

Hello and Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

This weekend is a big week! It not only is my birthday week (my birthday is the 14th!) but on Thursday we are heading off to Seattle for the weekend! I can hardly believe it!

It feels like we have been talking about it for so long and now it is only days away!

I am one of those people who spends the whole week celebrating my birthday!

I mean I do not get carried away or get obnoxious with it, but I like to indulge in myself a bit more the whole week!

To kick off the week, I am sharing with you this beautiful, bright, and sexy dress from Shein! It is not silk, but it has that feel. Of course the cut out detail adds to the sexiness of the dress.

This is the summer of cut outs and crop tops for me! I cannot get enough of them!

I will probably come out of the summer with some odd tan lines though! =D

I have a big day planned tomorrow! I want to get a few looks shot. In fact I am planning to shoot this really fun dress tomorrow but it is a bit... extra (you'll see what I mean on Wednesday) so my plan is to get up pretty early and shoot it. I'm hoping to get it done before people really start getting out and about.

And I absolutely cannot wait to share posts of Seattle with you next week!

Stay tuned! =D

Have a great week ahead! See you on Wednesday!

Ice Cream Run: Ripped Jeans, Slouchy Tee....

Hello and Happy Friday!

I hope you are all doing well!

I am getting so excited you guys! Next week is a big week! Wednesday is my birthday and then Thursday we head off to Seattle for the weekend! I am so excited! I cannot wait to get some great pictures and content to share with you!

Two things that have been kind of having me feeling overwhelmed though, is packing and the flight.

You guys, I have not traveled in a while! And when even when I was younger, I was still not great at packing. I think I know what I am going to pack as far as outfits, but its when it comes to accessories, bags, and shoes that I'm having troubles. Also, I am wondering if and how I can fit my tripod and camera into my bag in case I have to get pictures in on my own. (I'm hoping my family will help me BUT I want to be prepared if they do not want to).

And the flight! Guys, I have not flown since.... 2006? I'm a bit nervous! Not just about the flight but about all the stuff that goes along with it like getting there early, finding my luggage, getting it through customs... etc.

Do you guys have any tips or tricks for packing and/or flying? I'll take whatever I can get! (Well, except of course no alcohol! Lol).

On to today's look!

It is a really casual look, which I love because it is a ready-to-go look that does not require much fuss or thought to be honest.

Some days, I just want to throw something on and go. I do not really want to have to think about what to wear, how to style it, worry whether it is too dressy (or if I need to shave my legs! xD)

That is why this look is great! It is simple and effortless but stylish all the same!

I wore it when I went to The Local Scoop to get some content for the post I wrote on them. And ice cream of course! =D

Picture
Picture
I also curled my hair a little for this post!

No particular reason, I just felt like trying it out. I think it looks really cute with the hat!

Funny story! While I was taking pictures for this look. I was in an area that was not overly populated, so I wouldn't be in people's way. So I set my camera timer on for 10 secs and went to get in place, and as I was a car was coming around the curve and slowed down. I figured it was someone asking what I was doing, or going to possibly ask me to leave (hey, its happened before!) but no! It was my mama!

She was leaving the gym, which was in the same shopping center, saw me and stopped to say hello!

Of course, the camera ended up capturing the moment! It was a cute moment, so I included the picture! =D

Thanks so much for reading! Have a great weekend! And I will see you guys next week for some fun posts!

Stay safe!
