Hello all and happy Friday! Today is another dressed down post, but the main star of this show are my Shein sandals! I felt like it is finally time to break out some of my favorite sandals. You guys already know I love print and color and these sandals deliver both. One strap zebra print and one strap neon yellow. They are very comfortable and they are slide on, so you won't have to worry about blisters on the back of your heel. Since I just mentioned it, does anyone else have issues with blisters on their heels with new shoes? Heels, sneakers, sandals -whatever type shoe- when they are new and you are breaking them in do you have issues with blisters at first? I often do! Well, with sandals not as much. But sneakers and heels yes. Actually one of my -now- favorite pair of heels (the nude heels, you've seen them many times before) actually killed my feet at first! I first wore them to a graduating I was in and I was limping by the time it was all over. I didn't think I would ever wear them again and then I tried them again one day and.... they fit perfectly!? What the heck? Now I wear them with ease, no issues ever (knock on wood!) So I guess I just broke them in that night? Idk. This is a bit of a tangent, but if you have any ideas to help with breaking shoes in without pain or blisters, I would love to hear them! On to the look. I kept it simple. I've kind of been into the more simple look lately. A lot of it is because it is easier on my feet. They've been killing with the longer hours I've been working lately. (I'm thinking of getting a pedicure just for the foot massage, alone, I feel like it would feel SO amazing!) But also it is easier to shoot in different places. My heels sink into the ground a lot, so that is why you see pictures in the same place. Although I did do a shoot with my friend Terrence, which I'll be posting next! So stay tuned! But these cargo pants have certainly paid themselves off! I got them I think at least a year ago and I have loved them ever since! They are casual but they can be dressed up as well. Today I dressed them down with a graphic tee and paired with the sandals its an effortless look and very comfortable. Easy to wear for lunches or errands or day dates! Thanks for reading! I hope you have a great weekend! XOXO Tee: Vestique Boutique Pants: Target Sandals: Shein.com Watch: Anne Klein Bag: Target Shades: Hashtag Sunglasses Hey all and Happy Monday! I know this may seem kind of an odd post especially since last night was Oscar night. I feel like I should be fancier but... I don't know. Have you ever needed or felt like you needed to dress up and just didn't want to? That was me today. And this is my dressy casual look. Nothing wrong with it. It is very laid back but not completely dressed down. Actually I this oversized Shein shirt I have been using mostly as a lounge wear shirt. I am considering pairing it with biker shorts in the near future -we shall see! I'm not sure if I'm completely there for that look yet. But who knows! It is an idea I have in the back of my mind. But for today I really enjoyed this pairing. It is laid back/casual but the red mules give it a dressier vibe. I could also pair it with flats and my blue crossbody bag and that would be a great running errangs look or lunch with friends. What do you guys think? Thanks for reading!! Shirt: Shein.com Shorts: Target Envelope Clutch: Versona Red Mules: Off Broadway Shoes Shades: Shein.com Hey all and Happy Friday! So just a quick post for today, but I have been wanting to do a denim on denim post for a while. I wasn't exactly sure how to go about it. So I played around with it and came up with this look! I love the different shades of denim, as well as the look with just the t-shirt and wide legged jeans. What do you guys think? Jacket: LOFT T-shirt: KLa Boutique Jeans: Shein.com Bag: Versona Hello and Happy Friday Friends! Man when this work week first started -for me- on Wednesday it was bleak! I swear I was dreading a very long 5-day stretch. 5 days maybe the normal for you guys but is 10 hour shifts 5 days in a row the normal for you? Its not for me! And it was challenging. One of those days was awful. I was grateful for my friend Terrence Brown who called me on my break that morning to give me words of encouragement and has already given me several great opportunities for growing my blog. And also I'm so grateful for my work friends who bear with me on my rough days and listen to me, understand me, support me, and are still my friend even on my worst day. You guys know who you are. Also for my work friends this weekend who made me laugh so much and made working so much better! Okay enough mushy stuff! On to the blog post! Today's look is a relatively casual look. This duster I've had for a few years now! I found it at Versona a while back and just loved it! The print on the sleeves the dramatic length and angles of it just had me at first sight! The look alone -just the jeans and the graphic tee- COULD stand alone but the drama of the duster makes the look so much ore interesting! I've been trying -yet again- to really edit my closet and get rid of stuff or sell it. I had to think long and hard about this duster and at the end of the day, I just love it. I can't bring myself to get rid of it. What do you think of this look!? And stay tuned for some pretty cool future posts! Thanks for reading! XOXO Shirt: Forever21 Jeans: GAP Shoes and Duster: Versona Bag: Versona Shades: Shein.com Hey all and Happy Friday! I wanted to talk about a little of what goes on behind the scenes of one of my blog shoots. There are times where a I got through funks. I feel like I don't have any great or new ideas. But I have an idea of something I Think would look good! For this post it was this very look -the paper bag shorts and crop top- but with a denim jacket, navy blue heels, and a big, blue bag. In my head, I really thought the blues would tie the look together and it would look great. Upon taking and editing the pictures, I didn't hate them per se.... but I also felt like something was missing. I knew I liked the crop top with the shorts. That was my goal was to find ways to compliment that look. My first thought was to go more casual with the Walmart brand Keds and the denim jacket. And as I put the Keds on with the look, my eye happened to fall on this purple/pink colored scarf that I've had for years! And on a whim I tried it with the look and LOVED it! I even completely ditched the jacket! The pink/purple color of the scarf blends absolutely perfectly with the crop top and adds some added detail and texture to the look. Plus the the tennis shoes add a touch of casual that I think is appropriate for this look as opposed to the heels. In my opinion. I'm curious as to what you guys think. I feel like it is so much more effortless. And sometimes that is the thing. If you are struggling with what to wear, maybe just walk away and come back to the look. Sometimes you need fresh eyes. Sometimes the right look is right in front of you. I personally didn't feel like the first -with the heels, bag, and jacket- weren't quite right. I posted a few pictures of that look just to give you an idea. But if you don't like it, keep trying different things until you find what you do like! It will be worth it! I think it is for this post for sure! Thanks for reading! XOXO Top: Apricot Lane Boutique Shorts: K La Boutique Scarf: GoodWill Tennis: WalMart Jean Jacket: LOFT Heels: Target Bag: Blue -Versona Pink -Target Hey all and Happy Monday! Today I am sharing one of my favorite shirt dresses with you! I've worn this once before on the blog. It was in cooler months and with red, knee high boots. I loved it then and I love it now! The color blocking is fantastic in my opinion. The colors are neutral enough to be pair a variety of different ways. Today I tried it out with beige colored booties and a coral colored clutch bag. I even tried a denim jacket with the look which I was surprised with how much I liked it. It was a little on the warm side today, but it will be good for future use when fall comes again. Or even chilly spring mornings. Temperatures are really up and down in the mornings here. Okay in all honesty my friends, blogging is going to be a little hard. My hours at my day job have changed and I'm working long -tiresome- hours. I'm trying my best to really get pics in on my days off so I'll have content for posts and not have to skip. BUT on top of this, they are going to cutting trees down soon by my house. Idk exactly why.... they can't leave shit alone. Where there is space to build stuff, they will do it. I happen to live right beside 485 and I think they are building a big wall to block out sound. Okay. My point being, it maybe hard to post sometimes. I'm going to squeeze pics in when I can and also I will be working on other content when I can't post fashion posts. I will be trying to work on videos and covering different events. But bear with me for a bit! If I miss a post, I won't be gone for long! Thank you so much for your patience! XOXO Dress: NastyGal.com Shoes: Francesca's Bag: Versona Shades: Shein.com Jacket: LOFT hello! And happy Friday! I'm playing with shades of pink today! Various shades! It has been a wild ride of a week. Hence this look! I felt like being bold! I felt like playing with different shades of pink! And to be honest? I'm loving it! I love the different shades of pink, I love the tucked/untucked look, and I even love those switch between heels and flats. Either way it is a casual look and can be worn to various different events. Shopping, lunches, date nights, girls nights! you name it! I really liked the way it took both ways so I took pics with the heels and the tennies! Which do you prefer!? Let me know what you think in the comments! Thanks so much for reading! Terrence Brown is a fascinating person I met at the Beige is the New White fashion show on March 27th. We connected on social media and stayed in touch. I was able to interview Terrence and learn more about him and his story. He is a remarkable person! Not to mention inspiring! And today I am excited to be able to share his story with you! It began in a small country town Pelham, NC. "There wasn't a whole lot to do," Terrence explained. Poetry was one of his biggest interests. Which of course now I want to hear his poems! He actually still currently writes poetry, though more as a stress reliever. Terrence also had and interest in model cars and hanging out with friends. Growing up wasn't always easy though. In 2003 Terrence was incarcerated in NC state penitentiary for 15 years and 8 months. For some people that might knock them out. But not for Terrence. He used his time there to "acquire and obtain degrees and certifications," he told me. "It was a blessing and a curse," he explained, "it was a punishment but I learned a lot about myself while I was there. How do I grow? How do I not let this affect who I am today?" Terrence used this time as a time of reflection and personal growth. He said it helped build him to who he is today. Now he concentrates on staying grounded and focused. What has changed his life 'tremendously' as he told me, has been working as COO of Limelight Management and the support and mentorship of Stephanie Cadogan, the CEO of Limelight. "She put her trust in me, saw my work ethic, and helped me understand the roles within the company." With Limelight, Terrence helps develop artists as well as brand them. Whenever there is an event where an artist is to perform, Terrence makes sure the artist is there, fully equipped, and ready to go. As well as being COO of Limelight, Terrence also has his own similar company, King's Eye Vision. "What I look for in artists is that individuality," he told me, "what lets them be unique within their craft." Clearly he must have a good eye! Terrence told me one of his favorite moments was at an event where an artist from Limelight was performing and began to chant 'Limelight! Limelight!' "Everyone in our team -and it was about 15 of us- began jumping and chanting 'Limelight' too. Pretty soon the whole crowd was screaming it! That's when I felt like, 'this is it. They see us!" When they say that when you love what you do, you never work a day, rings true! This is another way this job has changed his life. Helping others develop and grow has also helped him develop and grow! And while Terrence is very humble and grateful for his work, not everyday is perfect. Like most of us, Terrence also faces tough days sometimes. The thing about Terrence though? He doesn't let it stop him. "My biggest challenge is making sure I reassure myself that 'I've got this.' Some days you feel like giving up. There's that question in the back of your head. That small bit of doubt. But I have to block it out." Man! Can I relate to that! I feel that a lot! Hearing him say that, I personally felt validated and understood as well as inspired! Some days are just rough, but you keep going! You can handle it. Winding up the interview, I asked what advice he would give other people. Without any hesitation he replied, "stay consistent, stay focused, keep grinding. It will all pay off." Hard to argue with that! Continue to watch his journey everyone! Things are about to take off and as he put it; "Terrence Brown is about to become a house hold name."
Hey all! And Happy Friday! Today I want to share with you my night at the first fashion I've been to in over a year! It was great! It was such fun to see the fashions and to see people -of course my friends Rob, Vikkee, and Ricky. As well as make new friends like Terrence Brown and net work. It was fun to get dressed up! The atmosphere in general had such a fun energy! It really was a great night! First off, the venue was beautiful! It was located in downtown Matthews, which I been through many, many times and have never been in this particular place. But it was lovely! So let me tell you about the designers. There were six total. First up was AGT Designs. A lot of this line saw men in very fitted, structured suits in different colors. The first model that walked wore a very long, distressed denim jacket which I loved! The whole look I loved actually. She wore it over a fitted black skirt and a black crop top with strappy heels. I loved it! I want that jacket in my closet! It was such a statement piece but the whole look seemed effortless and chic. Other highlights of AGT Designs were a body con dress, and a men's wear suit that featured a leopard printed blazer and amazing red loafers. I loved it! Next up there was The Valley NC . It was a very chic line that featured mostly leggings and cropped jackets. Some of the designs featured sequins. There were a few exceptions including a look that featured pink biker shorts and matching crop top, and another that was a very beautiful feminine look featuring a tulle skirt and off the shoulder blouse. Thirdly we had Articles of Reasons! Yes, Reasons Brown himself! Rob was dressed to the T! In a gorgeous purple blazer, fitted pants and loafers! His line made up of mostly casual and leisure wear with his signature graphic 'Fish' print on them. There was a lot of denim jackets and shorts as well as sweat shirts. It felt very casual chic! Following Reasons, there was Jo'han Alexander. Jo'han's line had a very effortless feel to it. It was very laid back. It featured mostly tees-shirts and sweat shirts. Which, hey, I am all on board with! There is nothing I love more than a good fitting t-shirt or sweatshirt! Flee Clothing was next. Flee Clothing was mostly all leisure wear. Sweat suits with graphics. What I loved about this line was the color! You guys know I'm all about color! There was red, pinkl, yellow, grey, and camo print to name a few! I could absolutely see myself wearing one of those comfy sweat shirts or even -in the colder months- throwing a peacoat on over a full sweat suit! Flee Clothing is definitely one to keep in mind! And last but not least! YRD Clothing! My friend Ricky! Ricky mentioned later how he as nervous leading up to it and even afterwards. And to be fair I'm sure everyone was to some degree. Its a big thing to have your line featured in a fashion show! There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that most people never know! But Ricky handled it like a pro! He was so calm and collected and his line was fantastic! It was also mostly sweat suits and cropped sweat shirts all in different colors and with the 'YRD' logo printed on it. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed experiencing and writing it. Stay tuned for more coming up from The Honey Comb Experience! |
