Hello and Happy Wednesday!

Today we are back to the Fashion Inspo series and for today's fashion inspiration its the beautiful Kate Hudson!

You probably know her best from her many movies like Almost Famous, How to Loose a Guy in 10 Days, You, Me, and Dupree, The Skeleton Key, and many, many others! She also has a beautiful singing voice as well!

I have a bit of a girl-crush on her to be honest! Kate Hudson is so naturally beautiful and free spirited. She seems like such a genuinely happy person.

And her style is fantastic!
Picture

I've been following her style for a while. and draw from it constantly! Especially her off-duty looks!

Kate's off-duty style is charmingly eclectic. I have heard people describe her and her style as hippie or bohemian, which I could definitely see. She seems to gravitate towards maxi dresses, midi skirts, bell bottoms, off the shoulder shirts/dresses, layers, and fringe. She also has an infinity for scarves and bags.

I'm not sure if Kate has ever said what her particular style is but I do remember her on Regis and Kelly, when Kelly mentioned something about her style, she replied with 'I like to be comfortable!'
Picture

When it comes to dressing up, Kate really kicks it up! Her glam styles are so elegant!

One of my all-time favorite looks that she wore was to the Oscars -I think- it was simple in the front -all white, long sleeved, and a high neckline. The back though, that's where the drama was! It was a completely open back! It was absolutely stunning! And Kate pulled it off so confidently and effortlessly!
Thank you so much for reading! And I hope you enjoyed this look at the fabulous style of the fabulous Kate Hudson! I did! =D

I will see you on Friday! Have a great week!

Almost Fall:: Asymmetrical, Ruffle Dress, Lace Up Flats...

Hello and Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

You may remember in my Friday post, I mentioned there were two out of four dresses from Shein that I was planning to keep. This is the second dress!

Before summer officially wraps up and we welcome fall, I wanted to get a post in this fun, flirty number!

What is not to love about this dress?! It is comfortable, breezy, and unique! What I especially love is the subtle and not-so-subtle details. The not-so-subtle asymmetrical/off the shoulder neckline is a pretty unique design. It is actually what drew me to this dress in the first place. It gives off such a romantic vibe, that I cannot get enough of!

The more subtle detail is the asymmetrical theme that continues down to the dramatic ruffle of the dress.

At first glance you may not notice it, but I think the dress would have a drastically different look without it.

The asymmetrical theme gives it so much character and life!
Picture
I kept the styling pretty simple this go round. The lace up flats I have had for a while now and don't get out as much as they deserve but my love for them is strong as ever! Whenever I do break them out, they do not fail me!

I have a tricky time keeping them tied when I wear them. Everything will start out strong but as the day goes on, they will come untied and I will have to keep retying them. Does anyone else have this trouble? And/or do you have any tricks or ideas to help remedy this problem? If so, please let me know! xD

Thanks so much for reading! Have a great week!

Bright Summery Day: Two-Toned, Rib-Knit Dress...

Hello and Happy Friday guys!

We made it through another week! Yay!

It was another busy but productive week for me. I was able to get a lot squeezed into my days off. I got four looks shot and had a counseling appointment and got a workout in!

I have enough looks shot to get me through three more posts, so I am ahead of schedule! I try to get enough looks shot so I have material for several posts in case something comes up and I cannot shoot -I don't want to miss or fall behind. But that said, my bedroom in particular is a HOT mess! I am hoping on at least one of my next days off to take a break from shooting and really focus on cleaning it up a bit!
Picture
Picture
Let's talk about this fun, new dress! I have been in the market for a new dress for an upcoming event, so of course I went to my favorite -Shein! I ordered four dresses from the site but I'm only keeping two. This one and another one which I'll share with you later.

I have always heard people say that red and pink do not go together. They don't match. Which is a shame, because they can and do! And, of course all I want to do is style them together! In my opinion, it is more about finding the right shades of red and pink to style together. This dress, for example, is the perfect shade of hot pink and red/orange and the simple color blocking is perfection!

Since it is a pretty bold/bright dress, I kept everything else pretty neutral. The strappy, nude heels, the off-white bag, and the minimal jewelry.

I'm glad I opted to style it with the denim jacket, I think that additional touch of casualness anchors the look. Especially for the location I was shooting at. It made me feel not quite so conspicuous as I shot! xD
Picture
Well guys, what do you think? Is this the dress for the event? I think it very well could be! I am still going to keep my eyes open, but I am leaning more and more towards this one! I will keep you posted with what I decide!

I hope you all have a great weekend! Be safe! See you on Monday! =)

Out and About: Taco n' Taps Festival...

Hello all! Happy Wednesday!

Today, as promised, I am sharing another post with you in a series I am going to call 'Out and About!'

This Saturday I had a blast at the Tacos n' Taps Festival! I had heard about it on Instagram and thought 'hey, that sounds fun!' Then after that the stars seemed to align. I happened to have THAT Saturday off, it was only a ten-minute drive from me, it ended early enough that I could make another comitment later than night, it was free (well sort of, you could get in and walk around for free but of course the food and drinks cost money).

So, Saturday afternoon I set out on an adventure to join my fellow taco lovers and feast with them!
Picture
Picture
The festival took place at Ballantyne's Backyard, which is gorgeous and extremely spacious -that came in handy while hosting fourteen taco trucks and thirty-four alcohol booths. People happily sipped on their drinks while perusing the over thirty local vendors who had also set up shop. There was everything from vintage eye wear to cigar bars, to tie-dye apparel, to various hot sauces, to funnel cakes, and even a psychic! And that is just to name a few!

I meandered around trying to take it all in. I listened to some live music for a while and since I do not drink, I stuck closer to the taco trucks! I got two tacos, a chicken tinga taco from Don Taco Y Su Pandilla and a steak taco from Poblanos Tacos Truck. Both were excellent! I don't know if I could pick a favorite! Please, don't make me choose!

Of course, there was an ice cream truck as well with a line about a mile at all times!

At the far end of the field, there was a beautiful sitting area with strings of overhead lights and a mariachi band that would serenade the crowd who stopped to eat there.

I also chatted with several vendors that were there and met some very intriguing people. There Glenetta White with A Peace 4 U which was vintage eyewear. She was wearing the most beautiful jumpsuit! It was full of colors and looked so cozy and were complete with a kick ass pair of converses! She looked fantastic!

Then there was Pamela Robinson of Paparazzi Accessories. Her booth was full of beautiful jewelry! From rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings in many different colors and designs. And the best part? They are affordable! The ones at her booth were priced at $5! And with Christmas right around the corner, the pieces would make great gifts for the ladies in your lives!

And finally, there was Michelle Cook with Blaze On Creations. Michelle 'up-cycles' used beer cans and turns them into candles! I thought this was such a creative idea! She has several different fragrances to choose from and even the cans she used were fun from the design to the colors! I am hoping to maybe get to talk to Michelle later on and get more info on them. Maybe even do a whole post, because while we were able to chat a little there, I don't feel confident enough that I could correctly relay the upcycling process to you now, in this post.

So, stay tuned! :D
It truly was a great afternoon! There were even more festivities that I did not catch like a jalapeno eating contest! I like to think I would do well with that but who are we kidding? I'm a bit of a wimp! xD

Tacos n' Taps thanks for having me! It was truly a blast! I already am looking forward to next year! Now, if you'll excuse me writing about tacos has made me hungry for.... you guessed it! Tacos! See you Friday! :)

My Pocket Park:: Navy Blue and Coral...

Hello and Happy Monday!

I hope you are all well!

I had an exhausting but very fun weekend! I am happy to report that my plans on Saturday went pretty well and I will have a special post on Wednesday about the event I covered that afternoon!
Picture
But onto today's look! I'm ready for another week and kicking it off with a look that I love! This is such a comfortable and effortless look to pull off. In fact, I am sure you have seen me style a similar version of this before.

I love the mixture of sleek against casual, in this case the deep navy, suede blouse and the slouchy, boyfriend jeans. Guys, there is nothing like a pair of boyfriend jeans! I got these a few years ago and they have never let me down! They are comfortable, versatile, and flattering! What more could you ask for?!
Picture
Picture
Let me take a moment to talk about this cute setting! I was having trouble falling asleep one night and I began googling places in Matthews/Charlotte to shoot in. I think I had googled murals and parks in particular, and this is a park that popped up. It is in downtown Matthews, and it is called a pocket park!

How cute is that!?

It is very small, and off to the side -hence the pocket part of the name. But it is SO cute! It has this beautiful awning with stones and brick -which is my favorite aesthetic for backgrounds lately. It has several bushes and trees and a few benches to sit, and chit chat or people watch or drink your coffee.

I know that I will be going back for more pictures in the future, especially as we move into fall and the leaves begin to change colors. I bet it will be really gorgeous then!
Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed this pocket park as much as I did! =)

Have a great week!

Hello and Happy Friday!

I hope you all are well and have had a good week so far!

Mine has been really nice! I feel like I have had a pretty productive week and a pleasant one as well! AND if you can believe it, I actually have a Saturday off! And thankfully too, because it may end up being an eventful day. If all goes well, hopefully I will be able to share more about it on Wednesday's post!
Picture

This post is another special post for me!

I have been stepping more out of my comfort zone lately and going places to take pictures, for a change of pace and background. I figured for you guys as readers it would be more interesting. And for me as a creator it has really helped ignite a new passion in me.

I have been excited to shoot, to scout out new places, to come up with looks and ideas for pictures, to edit pictures, to write posts, and to share with you guys.

I used to be extremely shy and self-conscious -I still am- and I am not really sure where this new-found confidence came from except that one day, I decided I was not going to be afraid anymore. And that has really allowed me to experiment more creatively.
That said, most of my locations have been relatively secluded.  There was the first post with the huge tree, the post at the park, and the staircase post to name a few, and mostly I haven't run into too many people.

This location was very different!

It was very public and where I wanted to shoot was pretty much smack dab in the center of the shopping center. The place where everyone goes to eat their ice cream, visit, let their kids play. And here I am with my tripod, taking picture after picture! I'll be honest, this one by far has been the most nerve-wrecking for more.

But, like the post under the tree and the staircase and most of the rest of my posts, I had a vision. I had a vision that I made come alive. That is what makes it all worth it!

Thank you so much for reading! And have a great weekend! I will see you on Monday! =)

Fashion Inspo: Anna Wintour!

Picture
Hello! And welcome back to my Fashion Inspo post series!

I am excited for today's post! Anna Wintour! A fashion icon that has garnered the respect and awe of Hollywood's most elite! And a glamorous mystery to me. Its' true. I think I know exactly three things about Anna Wintour:

1. She is the Editor-in-Chief for Vogue Magazine.
2. She is the host/chairwoman of the Met Gala (which I will be doing a post on soon!)
3. Oversized sunglasses are part of her signature style!

And that's it! That's all I know about her! But researching this post was eye opening. She is a powerhouse!
Picture
Picture
Anna was born in Hampstead, London in 1949 and also into a journalism household. Her father was the editor of the London newspaper and began to "consult her" on how to make the newspaper more relevant to the younger generation of the time. Anna took that knowledge and began her career in journalism with two British magazines. She was the editor of the British Vogue magazine for two years before she took control of the franchise's New York magazine and revived it.

With Anna at the helm, the magazine began to shape the fashion industry and has become one of the most prominent and highly regarded people in "fashion, trend setting, and anointing new designers." Her influence in the industry is powerful!

Picture
As for her personal style? Like all of us it has evolved over the years. But it seems, from what I found, that with Anna, she finds something that she likes and that works for her and sticks with it for a while. For example, in her early years she tended to mix fashion tee shirts with designer jeans and vests.

Later, when she began working at Vogue, she adopted Chanel suits and miniskirts. Apparently, she even wore them during her pregnancies (she had 2!) She would unzip the skirt a bit in the back and wear the jacket to cover it up!

Those oversized sunglasses I mentioned earlier? Apparently, they are corrective lenses as her eyesight is starting to deteriorate. She mentioned once in an interview that they have really become her "armor" as they help keep her reactions to a show private.
I hope you enjoyed reading about Anna Wintour as much as I enjoyed researching and writing about her! She is fascinating to me, and this is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her.

I have the urge to head on over to Amazon and order books on her just to learn more about her!

Stay tuned, I will be covering the Met Gala in a post coming up!

Thanks for reading and have a great day! See you on Friday! =D

Sporty Chic:: Shorts, Flannel, and Baseball Hat...

Hello and Happy Monday!

I am starting off this week with a VERY casual look that I happen to love!

This is the look I have practically lived in the last leg of this summer, while running errands, going on walks, lunch dates, or even cleaning up around the house and/or writing blog posts.

And with school starting soon, I figured a school themed post was called for!
Picture
Picture
First off, between walking up and down the stairs for the last post and up and down bleachers for this one, PLUS the jumping off of the bleachers for this post (I did that close to 20 times!) I am pretty sore! I didn't realize while shooting how much I was going up and down and how much I would feel it the next day! XD

I just love how comfortable this look is! From head to toe, comfort is the name of the game. I threw on the flannel shirt mainly because I like the vibe of it. Also, though, it is nice to have when I'm indoors and get a little chilly. When I'm on walks or outside for prolonged periods of time I either go without it or tie it around my waist!

Easy peasy!
As for the bag, when I wear this out, I have a tote bag that I carry. That, or this super cute backpack! I like to keep it simple when I wear this look, since that is the purpose of it. (Although if I'm feeling particularly cute, I have another backpack in yellow that I might carry.) But since the kiddos are going back to school, I also felt like the backpack was the right choice!

I thank you so much for reading and I hope all the kids and teachers have a great school year this year! I have a few summery posts left before I begin to transition into fall posts! And I have some fun upcoming posts to share with you soon in September! Stay tuned! ;)

Hey Friends! Happy Friday!

If you follow me on Instagram (reaganinmyownworld) I promised in my stories that I had a story about this post! First let me tell you about this look really quick before I get into the story. This is truly one of those posts I envisioned in my mind and actually came together wonderfully! I styled this is my head early on, this Shein dress with a denim jacket over it -I wasn't sure which denim jacket at the time but decided on the star print because you guys know I love a little extra flare!

The shoes are the only new pieces in this look. I actually picked them up on a whim. I knew what I was looking for and headed into Versona after work one night on a mission to find them. Turned out to be a pretty easy mission AND they were on sale! So, naturally, I grabbed a second pair!

Even the belt bag I pictured styling this way. I have never styled it like this before because I've been nervous I would end up making it look goofy. But all in all, I was really happy with how every piece came together!
Picture
Picture
Still with me? Okay, on to the story!

So, like I said I began envisioning this post a while ago. I had stopped at a CVS one evening and happened to notice this spot across the street. It was in a business park and I was instantly drawn to the iron railing and staircase and the rustic looking brick. The aesthetic of it was screaming at me!

The idea for the look came to me pretty soon after. I had this all worked out in my mind, how cool everything was going to look!
So, Wednesday, I packed up all my stuff and headed to this site to get some pictures in. Unfortunately, my plans were a bit derailed when I saw at the top of the stairs a sign that said 'No Loitering, Soliciting, or Trespassing.'

Well, crap. There goes that idea.

Bummed, I decided to still make the most of my time there and get pictures in the surrounding areas. There were some sidewalks and shrubbery that still made for good backgrounds and was beautiful. But still, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. I finished taking perfectly good pictures and started to pack up to leave. A thought popped in my head though, 'why not just knock on the door and ask to take pictures? The worst they could say is no!' So, summoning my courage, I did just that.

And guess what?! The sweetest lady named Anne answered and after explaining what I was wanting to do, she was more than welcoming. She enthusiastically said yes and asked about my blog and cautioned me to be careful on the stairs and around a certain set of bushes because bees were sometimes there. Anne even told me about which surrounding buildings were occupied and which were not, offered ideas for other places I could take nice pictures, and said I was welcomed to use the stairs anytime!

The look came together perfectly, the pictures came out just the way I had hoped, and I made a friend in the process! Sometimes stepping outside of your comfort zone can be very rewarding!

Thanks so much for reading! And thanks to Anne from Pearl Meyer for your help and your kindness! You helped bring a vision to life and made this little blogger's day! :D

Fashion Inspo:: Rihanna!

Picture
Hello! Happy Wednesday!

For today's Fashion Inspo post we are taking a look at the MANY different styles of Rihanna! Rihanna is many things! Singer, actress, designer, entrepreneur, and most recently a mother! She is also a fashion icon! That being said, Rihanna's styles are not going to be everyone's cup of tea. They can be eccentric or theatrical or too revealing, that's okay! But to not include her as part of my fashion inspiration list would be a mistake!

Truth be told, I have a lot of respect for Rihanna in general, but also her style! It is so fun, creative, and mostly it is all her! She breathes life into every look she wears!
Picture
Picture
While I was researching for this post, I kept coming across picture after picture, look after look that were all so different! I wanted to include them all but this post would be never ending if I had! I loved most of them, but even the ones I was not as crazy about it was more because I could not see myself looking good in it. Ri Ri on the other hand pulls damn near everything off, from glamourous, to tomboy, to princess, to sexy, to boss lady. She has such a confidence about her that really shines through in her looks!

Even her pregnancy styles were phenomenal! You could tell Ri Ri loved being pregnant and loved show that beautiful bump off!
Picture
I have followed Ri Ri's style for a while now, and while her style tends to never follow any particular fashion rules or trends I have noticed a few things she does tend to lean into pretty often.

For one thing, she seems to love oversized pieces. From wide-legged jeans, to jackets, to huge coats, our girl Ri Ri loves her oversized pieces! And she rocks them well too. I feel like this could be considered a signature style of hers. Of all the styles I saw while researching for this post, this is probably the style I saw her repeat the most, especially when it comes to her off-duty looks.

Secondly, Ri Ri LOVES to mix and match pieces that should not go together but she makes them work very well! This is where she really becomes my fashion muse! She loves to mix prints, textures, patterns, fabrics, colors, you name it! Rihanna does not hold back when it comes to mixing and matching. But it goes farther than that! In the picture down below, she paired what looks to be a printed, leather jacket with a light pink sweat suit. A higher end piece with more casual pieces. This actually is another look she seems to like a lot. She's always pairing heels with sweats and basketball shorts. Who does that? Ri Ri does! And she pulls it off effortlessly! She also reverses this style on occasion by wearing baseball hats to events where she is all glammed up.

Thirdly, whatever she wears she fully commits to. It doesn't matter if she is walking the red carpet, out and about shopping, or traveling, my girl really makes sure her presence is felt. At the end of the day, this is what I really respect about her. Whatever she wears, she owns it. She has such a confidence about her. Rihanna knows herself. She knows who she is, what she likes, and she does not care what anyone else thinks. And really that is what style is all about, knowing and being comfortable with yourself.

Thanks so much for reading and I will see you on Friday! =D
