If you follow me on Instagram (reaganinmyownworld) I promised in my stories that I had a story about this post! First let me tell you about this look really quick before I get into the story. This is truly one of those posts I envisioned in my mind and actually came together wonderfully! I styled this is my head early on, this Shein dress with a denim jacket over it -I wasn't sure which denim jacket at the time but decided on the star print because you guys know I love a little extra flare!
The shoes are the only new pieces in this look. I actually picked them up on a whim. I knew what I was looking for and headed into Versona after work one night on a mission to find them. Turned out to be a pretty easy mission AND they were on sale! So, naturally, I grabbed a second pair!
Even the belt bag I pictured styling this way. I have never styled it like this before because I've been nervous I would end up making it look goofy. But all in all, I was really happy with how every piece came together!
So, like I said I began envisioning this post a while ago. I had stopped at a CVS one evening and happened to notice this spot across the street. It was in a business park and I was instantly drawn to the iron railing and staircase and the rustic looking brick. The aesthetic of it was screaming at me!
The idea for the look came to me pretty soon after. I had this all worked out in my mind, how cool everything was going to look!
Well, crap. There goes that idea.
Bummed, I decided to still make the most of my time there and get pictures in the surrounding areas. There were some sidewalks and shrubbery that still made for good backgrounds and was beautiful. But still, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. I finished taking perfectly good pictures and started to pack up to leave. A thought popped in my head though, 'why not just knock on the door and ask to take pictures? The worst they could say is no!' So, summoning my courage, I did just that.
And guess what?! The sweetest lady named Anne answered and after explaining what I was wanting to do, she was more than welcoming. She enthusiastically said yes and asked about my blog and cautioned me to be careful on the stairs and around a certain set of bushes because bees were sometimes there. Anne even told me about which surrounding buildings were occupied and which were not, offered ideas for other places I could take nice pictures, and said I was welcomed to use the stairs anytime!
The look came together perfectly, the pictures came out just the way I had hoped, and I made a friend in the process! Sometimes stepping outside of your comfort zone can be very rewarding!
