Hello and Happy Friday!

Just a quick post for today. Its Friday an kind of a dreary one at that. So I opted for a more laid back look; distressed boyfriend jeans and a graphic sweat shirt. I added one of my all time favorite peacoats for a little extra warmth.

It was a Christmas gift a from a few years ago and it is one of my favorite coats I have ever owned. Everything about it I love from the elegant deep purple color, to the fit, to the leopard print design -I know its a little hard to tell in the pictures.

The jeans I have also had for a while. They are from GAP and I have gotten a log of wear out of them. And finally the sweatshirt is from my favorite -Shein.com!

What are your plans this weekend? Anything fun going on?

I will see you Monday! Thanks for reading!

YRD:: Yo Ricky Dee!

If you have ever heard 'Yoooo!' being called out or have been asked to do the 'Yooo!' challenge, it is very likely you know the man behind it. And if you don't know, you are about to, it is Ricky Dee Santana! Ricky has been all over the place lately, promoting his brand, YRD (Yo Ricky Dee) Clothing. Ricky is one of the most ambitious people I have ever met! And today I want to share his story with you.

Ricky, although from Suffolk Virginia, grew up in College Park, Georgia. He was the eldest of three brothers. Growing up he was interested in various sports like track and football. However, designing quickly became his passion. It was his mother who supported his vision. Not only did she encourage him to create his own clothing line, but she also helped him learn how to press everything. Along with his mother's support and his desire to design, Ricky told me another piece of his inspiration. "Growing up I just had this thought, why get someone else rich off of everything I buy? Why not do it myself? And I just went for it," he told me.

Why not indeed? And he did go for it!

Though design process is not always easy. In fact, it can be far from it. "Sometimes it can be a long process. I have to come up with a design to put on my merchandise that will have people saying ' Wow! I love that!' is what Ricky told me. While designing is one thing, Ricky puts his passion into promoting his brand as well. He is consistent on social media. He is always posting new products and pieces as well as encouraging challenges like the 'Yooo!' challenge a few months ago. "Its just a saying I have always said when talking to people or getting someone's attention, so I just ran with it," he told me. Now I realize 'Yo' itself is not a new thing, but Ricky has this way of putting a different spin on it and making it his own.

He also had a more recent tik tok challenge which is now closed. "There will be more challenges, giveaways, and award shows coming up in the future," he explained, "to show appreciation for my supporters and and followers."

In the meantime, Ricky has a lot coming up! First up he is a featured designer in the upcoming fashion show Beige is the New White, hosted by The Honey Comb Experience. "I'm a little nervous," Ricky admits, "but I'm expecting a fun energy. I have a lot of ideas in my head."

Additionally, Ricky's long terms plans are certain and clear. Next up he has plans for a YRD short film. Along with that he has plans for a pop up shop in of Suffolk which could be coming in June of this year!

Ricky's dreams go even farther than that. "My long term plans are to be as big as Tommy Hilfiger, Sean John, or Ralph Lauren -maybe even bigger!"

As ambitious as he is I could absolutely see this happening.

I have met Ricky several times and his energy is palpable and his passion is infectious!

I'm so thrilled to know Ricky! I cannot wait to see where this leads him!

Make sure you follow him on Instagram at @yrd_shops as well as @yrd_clothing, and I definitely recommend you keep an eye an on this guy, he is definitely on his way to greatness!

One final note from Ricky: #GoatMentality  Never Expect Good, Expect Greatness!

Bundling Up: A Gilmore Girl Look...

Hello and Happy Friday!

Sorry it has been a bit since my last style post. It has mostly been due to the ridiculous amount of rain we have been getting lately. It is hard to get the pictures in! Although I won't complain about the rain too much. I'm looking at you TX, my home state, and where two of my aunts and cousins reside. I'm hoping you guys are safe out there!

Today was considerably nicer than yesterday (and the past weekend and most days this week....) but it was still a bit cloudy and very chilly! I have been a little lax in ideas lately -could be weather related, who knows?!- but today I was struck with inspiration. I had an idea that features this dress/boots combo (I have found I really love these pieces paired together!) and a chunky sweater over top. I'm sure you will be seeing that pairing soon! ;) I have another idea I'm about to try out after this blog. And of course there is today's look!

Once I paired this look together I felt it was reminiscent of Gilmore Girls! Lorelei and Rory always loved their peacoats and scarves. Lorelei often wore some type of beanies! All of which I almost always loved.

It wasn't in my head at the time when the idea came to me. But once I put it on that is exactly what I thought!

I remember the days of watching Gilmore Girls every Tuesday night with my mom and sister! We used to LOVE that show! Now I absolutely HATED the reboot! HATED it! I will never watch that again. The actual series I love! And will cherish.

It was a simpler time then.

I hope you enjoy this look and I will see you Monday! Have a great weekend!

XOXO

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things...

Hello and Happy Monday!

Who enjoyed the Super Bowl last night? I found the game kind of boring. I was hoping it would be a closer game, BUT I did enjoy the halftime show with The Weeknd and of course there were some great commercials! But I enjoyed some time with my family and enjoying good food and drinks!

I also was lucky enough to be a part of a Honey Comb experience! I'm not entirely sure if I can share a whole lot right now, but when I can I definitely will! It was a fun experience, although very different for me. But I thought it went really well, and I felt proud and inspired afterwards.

Today I wanted to take a break from my usual styling posts to share with you a few of my favorite things! These things are - from left to right- a rose quart Face Massager,  Free Falling perfume, and L'oreal Volumizer Mouse.

I'll start with the Face Massager. This is hands down one of my favorite things I bought for myself. It feels SO good! Even without the massage/vibration on I really love the way it feels on my skin. It  can be very cool and feels refreshing to me. But if that is not your thing, just flip it on and enjoy a face massage! That also feels amazing. Not only that, but it has health benefits as well. It can increase circulation in the face and make your face look brighter and feel firmer! What's not to love?

Mine came with another piece that is specifically for under the eye. I use both regularly and love them! I think they are a great gift idea for the friends and family members in your life!

Now there is the Feeling Free perfume. I found this gem at Walmart! I LOVE it! And I get compliments on it all the time! The fragrance is light and airy -for lack of a better word. Its not a fragrance that is super strong/heavy and that lingers for a long time or that is overwhelming. Instead it is light and refreshing. Now that I have found it, it is almost the only perfume I use! It is only $7 at Walmart, how can you beat that!?

And finally, the L'oreal volumizing mouse! It gives you great volume! I have tried several different brands and they always seem to leave my hair feeling greasy or looking heavy with product. This one does not seem to do that. I was nervous to try it initially but I was pleasantly surprised!

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post!

Mixing and Matching...

Hello and Happy Friday!

Today I'm playing with different shapes, textures, and silhouettes.
Picture
The button down shirt is silky and I purposely got it in a larger size, mainly because of my boobies! If you haven't noticed my ladies are a bit larger. This can make button down shirts a PAIN in the ass to buy. But this one I love!
Picture
Pairing it with this knit skirt is so fun and mixes textures as well as silhouettes. The knit pencil skirt with the larger silk, button down. I love it! It is something fun a a bit different. It indulges my creative side as well!

Pleather and Knits....

Hello and Happy Monday!

But BURRR! What a cold and dreary day it has been! The kind of day where you just want to stay in bed all day and cuddle with your fur babies with a good movie or binge watch a good Netflix show. Which is basically what I did after I got off work today! And I have no regrets!

In the spirit of trying to keep warm, I decided to go with a very simple yet warm and cozy look. This pleather jacket I got as a Christmas gift two years ago from my sister! I had been wanting a moto type jacket for some time after my favorite one got a little too distressed looking. I had gotten it originally from Goodwill, so it was already pre owned. And it held up well for several years. But it was definitely time for a new one. Thankfully my sister came through!

Actually most of this look is gifted pieces except for the leggings. The scarf and cap were a gift set from a friend of mine at work for this past Christmas and I have loved styling them (bonus they also came with a pair of gloves which come in handy in the cold early mornings!) The booties were a gift from my Aunt a few years back. They are so cute and very comfortable! And the shades were from Hashtag Sunglasses!

What do you think? Its very simple but very comfy and very warm!

Thanks for reading! Stay warm my friends!

XOXO
