Cool for the Summer:: Off-the-Shoulder Dress...

Hello all!

I'm back! I am feeling much better! I took a day or so off from blogging to just focus my mind and spirit.

Today I am so excited to share with you one of three posts featuring Newchic.com! I have worked with them twice before (here and here) and am working with them again now!

For those who do not know, Newchic.com is an online mall. They have everything! Women's clothing, men's clothing,, kid's clothing, accessories, etc. There is something for everyone there! I know, online shopping can be a little leery for some, but New Chic's prices make it worth the while (I got three pieces for under $50!). Not only do they have great prices, but they almost always have sales going on. In fact, you can save 20% on your purchases right now by using the code: ARRIANA.

On to the ensemble! I have been coveting an off-the shoulder shirt or dress all summer (in fact for several summers!) And FINALLY I found one! When I initially took it out of the packaging and was going over it, I though 'no way is this a real dress!' Yes, it is short and that may not be for everyone, there are ways around it though. I was actually okay with the length. For one thing, I feel like this is a perfect summer/beach dress. The fact that it fits so off the shoulder, adds a bit of length to it, than you would expect at first look. That being said, ladies, this dress will instantly rise with your arms. Something to keep in mind!

That was my only real issue with the otherwise lovely piece! I love, LOVE the off-the-shoulder look -I always have. It has such a romantic, sexy, feel. This dress is the epitome of summer to me. Carefree, sexy, romantic... it really captures it all!

I have so many ideas for other ways to style this dress too! Underneath jeans or shorts -for those uncomfortable with the shortness, or even transitioning from August to September. It's still warm but not exactly summer anymore. Maybe shorts and flats. I, for one, cannot wait to experiment! =)

Thank you so very much for being with me on this journey! I know I have not been as regular with my posting, and for that I apologize. I promise, going into the fall, I will aim to be more regular! Thanks for sticking with me! ;)

XOXO

Relaxed Look:: Loft Shorts and Tee...

TGIF!!!

After a long week, I don't always have the creative energy to put towards a look. The good news is you don't always have to put that energy in to create a stunning look. Today, for example, I paired some relaxed, bow-tie LOFT shorts with a billowy, LOFT tee.

In all honesty, its a look where less is more. I kept accessories to a minimum -a Versona choker, my beloved Chaus NY blazer, and Mossimo wedges- and I believe it really paid off.

The blazer anchors the whole ensemble and the muted amount of accessories really help in making it stand out.

Accessorizing is one of those things where its sometimes hard to explain what works and what doesn't. I sometimes find that very difficult myself. I know what I like usually, but sometimes it is hard to explain without becoming overly complicated. Should you have any doubts about accessories I would recommend getting a second opinion. If you still have hesitations, that is probably your intuition kicking in! I'm happy to answer any questions you have, as best I can!

I did not really have a real goal in mind -well, I had a goal in mind but I did not believe it to be realistic when I first started this blog. I started this mainly as a hobby, to get out of this funk I was in. Suddenly, I found myself more eager to invest time, money, effort, and energy in to it. I began to see where it could go. But at one point I was just working a job, which I wore a uniform for, and then going home. Going out here and there, but not much -basically I was in a rut. Fashion wise but more importantly creative wise. I had all of this creative energy built up inside of me and nothing to do with it really. Thankfully, I found the courage to start this blog, as nothing more than an outlet to pour my energy into. But again, I began to see where it could go and I poured even more energy in to it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm so happy, so impressed, and -sometimes- still in awe of where its taken me. And I don't want to discredit that at all. I am very, very blessed. But because nothing in this life is certain, I have been feeling a creative lull, and I think its taking a toll in other aspects of my life. Perhaps there are others out there struggling in a similar fashion (no pun intended ha!) I know it will pass and I'll be back in full, ambitious swing. But in the meantime, any positive energy, thoughts, prayers, etc. I could certainly use and I will be sending right back to you! At the very least I hope someone out there can relate, and it will get better.

"It happens." "What? shit?" "..sometimes!" -the very wise, Forrest Gump!

Thanks for reading and next post will be so much more uplifting, I promise!! Happy weekend ahead my friends!

XOXO

Cheap Tricks:: Open Back Top, Statement Necklace...

Hello all!
I stopped by K La Boutique the other day and picked up this lovely top. I don't have anything quite like it. The open back was a little nerve-racking at first, but I warmed up to it quickly. The open back acts as its own ventilation -very airy and a stylish way to battle this heat.

The design makes it very easy to style. I paired it with a fedora, booties, and statement necklace for a more bohemian feel. A few nights ago I paired it with black skinny jeans for a more chic look.

Heads up ladies, this is the time of year for sales! There are back-to-school sales and (my personal favorite) transitioning-to-fall sales!

New York and Company and Banana Republic are both having 40% off sales! I picked up a really unique top over the weekend, I am excited to share with you later on.

Have a great day and thank you so much for weekend! =)

August Rush:: Playing with Layers...

Happy hump day!

I apologize for the lack in posts lately, things have just been a little off lately! August is proving to be a very busy month, so far.

But I'm back! And today, combatting this awful heat by layering. Sounds counter productive right? But I layered a very light piece over a slightly heavier piece. I like the contrast in the pieces. It proves to be a fun way to restyle pieces for a creative, new look!

I love the leg-lengthening effect of the nude Versona heels too! =)

Hope you are having a great week so far!

XOXO

Grey Day:: Fedora and Pops of Teal...

Happy Monday! =)

And greetings from the new place! We are all still settling in and setting things up, but its coming along!

Today I opted for a simple look with striking accessories. The colors -teal and black-are a striking contrast. I added the booties and the wide-brimmed fedora for additional contrast. It elevates the look from simple to classy and chic with ease!

And I only got rained on a little bit! ;)

Thanks for reading and wishing you a great week ahead! =)

Fashion Show Ready:: Prints and Rouge Details...

This past Thursday, I went to my first fashion show!

It was organized and put together by the Fashion and Style Industry of Charlotte (led by my friend, Marie). It was a free event, and the proceeds all went to the Project Orange charity which funds MS research.

It was an amazing show! Several local designers and boutiques showcased some of their products and designs, all of which were stunning! Some even gave away some lovely prizes (which I gave out at the show!) The experience, for me, was one of a kind. I met so many talented and ambitious people! The energy was unreal!

It looked like a Hollywood event when I arrived at the show. People were gathered out front of the Gallery South End, chatting, waiting to grab their seats, or checking out local vendors who had set up shop outside. Backstage, models and designers were putting the final touches on the pieces they were showcasing. Marie was a busy lady that night, but she handled it so calmly -like a true professional!

All of the designs were outstanding. They ranged in styles but each had their own unique charm! There was vintage styled clothing by Moon Bloem, swim wear from Red Siren Swimwear, and a menswear line from the House of Lemond. There were three designs that I enjoyed in particular. Boho-tique showcased several looks that are perfect for summer. Flirty blouses, light-weight and effortless, off the shoulder dresses (one in particular I LOVE), and lots of prints!

Hux Style, also had some fantastic looks! These looks were very unique, they were menswear inspired pieces for women. They also seemed to mix vintage and modern elements together. I am definitely hoping to see more from this boutique soon!

And of course, Tygerian Lace! I love this line so much! Every piece was so bold! Clean lines, bold cuts, deep V-necks, flirty, lace dresses -everything was so detailed and chic!

The whole night was surreal to me. I am so blessed and happy to have been able to experience it! Congrats to all of the designers, boutiques, and models -you all did fantastic! And congrats to my friend, Marie for a great first show!

Thanks for reading!!
