Playing with Lengths: Cropped Trench and Maxi Skirt...

Hello and Happy Monday!

I have had this look ready to share with you guys for a while now, and for some reason I keep forgetting about it when it comes to posting! Which is a shame, because this is a solid look!

I feel like it has such a polished first-impression look. But it delves deeper than that styling wise.
Picture
Picture
When I began planning this look, it was built around the combination of denim and lace. I liked the strength of denim in contrast to the delicateness of lace. But when I added the cropped trench coat, the lace top was more of a hint as opposed to one of the main themes of the look.

Instead, it became more of a look that played with different lengths; the maxi skirt combined with a cropped coat.

I am very happy for this accident! I really prefer this outcome verses what I had in my mind. This version still features the strength vs delicate concept that I had, but it is a more polished presentation.

Thank you for reading and indulging me in my creative process a bit!

I hope you enjoy this look and this post!

Have a great day and I will see you guys on Wednesday!

Hello all! And Happy Friday!

I hope you guys are doing well and ready for the weekend!

I have some fun things coming up that I cannot wait to share with you! Starting this weekend! There is a Girl Tribe warehouse sale, that I am hoping to make! IF you're in the area, come on over and shop!

Today's look is one of my personal favorites! I love the color combinations of the grey, blush pink, and white coat. And of course, one of my favorite details of this look, the sparkly fishnets tights! I have had some fun this season with tights and hosiery. Instead of the typical black or nude colors, I have ventured out! Two posts ago I wore some iridescent, gold tights! And today I am trying out these rhinestone embellished fishnet tights.

I don't know why it has taken me so long to really try out different and fun types of hosiery. I have always enjoyed them other people and made promises to try them out the following season. Well, this year I decided to just give it a go! And so far, I have enjoyed them!

This look is so feminine and soft, from the blushing pink scarf and bag to the tiny sparkles! I know that is what I love about it. Its feminine yet I feel so confident and pretty wearing it!

Fun fact! I actually took these pictures the same day as I took the pictures for the last post. For some reason, when I took the pictures for the last post, I was FREEZING outside! I felt certain I would not last long taking pictures in this outfit, because of how cold it had been earlier. But surprisingly, it had warmed up a bit and I was pretty comfortable!

Thank you, guys, for reading! I hope you have a safe and wonderful weekend ahead!

All in the Family: Plaid Pnocho, Black and White Theme....

Hello and Happy Monday!

I hope you guys are doing well! I am! I've got some time off from my day job, so I am going to be working hard on creating content! And I may spend a day just resting a bit!

Today's look is almost a complete 180 from the look from Friday. While that featured shorts and a sheer top, this look relies heavily on layers! I got a few comments about how cold I must have been in that outfit, considering the temps this weekend were FRIGID!

I guess I should mention that I did not take those pictures while it was freezing! I took them much earlier and just posted that look Friday -before the temps dropped! I usually try and plan my looks to match the temperatures better, but I dropped the ball on that for Friday's post.

 No real regrets though! :)

Today's look is all restyled pieces! And actually, the main focal piece of the look -this black and white, wool, poncho- is borrowed from my mom!

This is something I always suggest to people, when they are looking for ways to spruce up their closets but are also on a budget. I understand that all too well! Borrowing clothes from a family member is a great way to do that! For one thing you can see how different pieces look on you or if you like them enough to indulge in one for yourself before you actually do. It is a great idea if you have an event to go to, instead of buying a fancy outfit that you only wear once, just borrow it from a friend of family member! Of course, make sure you have the proper permission and be careful with whatever you borrow!

My mom and I and Aunt actually do this often!

I built this look around the poncho and wanted a black and white theme. Yes, I love a pop of color, but I also think this color theme was dynamic!

It's a pretty simple styling: black leggings and a black turtleneck with the poncho over top of it. Booties, and of course my beanie! It made for a very cozy, warm look which turned out to be a good thing, because shooting that morning was FREEZING! It did not help that the wind would blow and sting my face!

I hope you liked this styling today!

Thank you so much for reading! And I will see you Wednesday!

Pushing Limits: Sheer, Tulle Shirt, Iridescent Tights...

Hello! Happy Friday my friends!

I am a little on the nervous side showing this look with you guys. I am not sure how it will be received, but I really like it personally! I think it pushes me out of my comfort zone quite a bit! The sheer look is big right now and I have mixed feelings about it. I have seen it styled in very sexy, sophisticated ways, but I have also seen it look trashy.

The top is from Urban Outfitters and I cannot tell you what it was that really drew my eye to it. I think it was a combination of things. I really appreciated the unique design of the shirt, while simultaneously trying to style it in my head.

It would be a challenge for sure, and I love a good challenge!

I originally planned to style it with black leggings. I even took pictures in that look and everything. But when editing, something nagged at me. I spent a few days thinking on it, and then had another idea! I love this pairing far better! I think part of it is because the shorts are higher waisted, and it covers a little more than the leggings. So, the bottom of my bra and just a little bit of my stomach is visible. Whereas with the leggings, the bottom of my bra and my whole stomach would be showing. I think for this look, less is more!

I also found these funky tights -or hose rather. I got them from New York and Company and I love that they are iridescent! Certain ways I move my whole leg will be gold, and other times you will just see shimmers of gold!

I just paired the tights with it for fun. I don't really know how much I will wear this pair of hose but who knows? Maybe I will find another fun way to style them! =D

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you enjoy this post!

Enjoy your weekend and be safe!

Out and About: at Cirque Du Soleil!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

If you guys missed the Cirque du Soleil show in Charlotte, you missed something really special! I was able to get to see it two weeks ago and it was magical!

It was a bit of the spur of the moment decision, but it made for a great evening!

It was not your traditional circus experience. It did not feature animals, but it told a story of a Maestro in training. The whole show, he works to prove himself worthy of being the next Maestro, and -spoiler warning- is ultimately crowned Maestro as well as a skilled performer.
Picture
Picture
The show featured incredible performances! There were tons of acrobatics, aerial work, dancing, fire dancing, tight rope walking -or flipping rather- and a guy doing all kinds of tricks on a bicycle. It was mind boggling as well as beautiful watching these performances. But the whole time my friend, Fabian, and I kept saying 'HOW?!'

How are they doing this? How did they realize they had that particular skill set? How had they become THAT good at this particular skill set without harming themselves in the process?

Throughout the entire show and each performance, a woman was singing different songs in French. Her voice was incredible! At several points during the show, I completely forgot that she was singing live as opposed to us listening to a previously recorded track.
Picture

It truly was a beautiful show! If you did not get a chance to see it, you may check their website. It is a traveling show, so you may be able to catch it at its' next location.

I'm so grateful to have been able to catch this show! It was a lot of fun and something different to do on a Saturday night!

Thanks for reading!

Stripe Set: Skirt, Sweater Set...

Hello! And Happy Monday!

I hope you all are doing well!

I had a pretty productive weekend! I got a quite a bit done, blog wise!

I managed to get a look re-shot. I had taken pictures in a look a previous day but when I was editing them, I just was not all that crazy about the styling. So, I tried styling it differently and loved the way it looked! That new look is what I managed to get shot over the weekend! You'll be seeing it on Friday.

Today's look is so cozy and stylish! I am currently obsessed with it! I want to where it everywhere!

It is a skirt, sweater set from Boohoo.com. You guys know how I love a good set! I have already found other ways to style the two pieces separately, but I wanted to style them together for this post.

I love how relaxed and effortless it looks; I think that is what drew me too it. The sweater drapes beautifully. I chose to tuck it in, but it can also be worn untucked for a more casual look. Personally, I think tucking it in gives me a bit more shape than there would be if I left it untucked.

I tried to keep the accessories minimal. A small shoulder back, with the silver handle being the only thing to deviate from the black and cream color theme. And a red lip felt appropriate! =D

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed it!

On Wednesday I am going to take you to the circus with me! I know I was supposed to last week, but it was a last minuet change of plans! But Wednesday -it is on! Stick around! =D

Metallic Mood: Metallic Skirt, Faux Fur Coat...

Hello friends!

Happy Friday to you all!

Today I have a dressier look to share with you. To be honest, this would have been a great holiday look! But it's a new year and there are plenty of opportunities to get dressed up!
Picture
Picture

This look is really brought to life by this metallic, silver, skirt. It was the piece that I built the look around. My first instincts were to go with a complete black and silver theme, thus the bag.

However, I do not have a silver coat. And the silver heels I do have, did not really pop the way I hoped they would. I opted instead for a faux fur, white coat. It was a thrifted find and I believe it worked in my favor!

The mixture of fabrics and the bit of texture add dimension to the look as well as a healthy dose of character!

For the shoes, I opted for the emerald green, Amazon heels. I like the unexpected pop of color personally. I realize it may not be everyone's cup of tea and so if you're in need of styling a metallic skirt, I might suggest open toed silver heels, or white heels instead!

Thank you all so much for reading! I hope you guys like this skirt, because you're going to be seeing more of it!

I already have several ideas for it! I can't wait to share them with you in future posts.

Thanks for reading and have a great and safe weekend ahead!

90's Vibes: Bucket Hat and Belt Bag...

Hello and Happy Monday!

I hope you guys all had a great weekend!

I had a great weekend! I went to the circus! It was a bit of a spur of the moment thing, but it was a lot of fun! It was a great experience; I had not been to a circus since I was a kid!

But that is for Wednesday's post!.

On to today's look!
Picture

This look is a win on a few levels. For one thing it is comfortable! It is made up of light layers that come in handy during the day. Plus, the baggier style helps hide the extra love I may have taken on during the holidays. xD

For another thing, it is stylish! It is a little different from the looks I typically style, but it is a 'borrowed from the boys' kind of stylish. I enjoy switching up my styles from time to time, depending on what I am feeling like that particular day. And everything looks good when you wear it with confidence!

And finally, this styling is recycling pieces I already own! Which is the biggest win in my book!

Two pieces I do want to point out, that are new pieces, are the blue bucket hat and the belt bag. They were both gifts from Christmas, and I was so thrilled with both.

I had been considering getting a bucket hat for a while. I would think about getting one, then forget about it. Then see one in a store or in a magazine and think about it again. My sister, on a whim, got one for me for Christmas. She called it a 'wildcard' gift, because she had no idea if I wanted one or not. But it was great! I love it!

The Lululemon belt bag is another gift, from my Aunt. I love that it is hands free for convince. I think it really added to this look as well! It gave it an extra bit of edge!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this styling and I will see you all on Wednesday!

Have a great week!

Happy Friday: Bright Blue Sweater, Slip Dress...

Hello! Happy Friday!

I hope you guys are all doing well!

We made it through the first week of the new year! How about that?

You may recognize this look from my 'Blog Shooting' vlog two weeks ago. I got three looks shot! This being the first. I was motivated as hell that day!
Picture
Picture
I had originally styled it with a skull printed scarf, but I ditched that scarf almost immediately. I think without it, the look is much classier!

I love this bright blue sweater from Shein. I have so many plans for it! But this simple styling seemed to fit the day I shot. It was such a dreary, gray day, I felt like a bit of color was needed. Styled over a slip dress made for a sleek, sophisticated look.

I paired a belt with it to cinch my waist a bit. The little bit of hardware on the belt also ties the look together.

Thank you all so much for reading!

It is just a quick post for today, but I will be back Monday with another fun look for you!

Have a great weekend ahead and please be safe!

Out and About: at The Face Magazine Fashion Show!

Hello! Happy Wednesday!

Today I am excited to share with you about a fashion show I recently attended. Instead of ringing in the New Year, we rang in a new era of The Face Magazine. They took some time off to rebrand and are now back, bigger than ever!

And what better way to celebrate their relaunch, than a snazzy, suave, fashion show!

It was held at the Le'Meridian Hotel in uptown Charlotte, a very swanky venue! It was hosted by Erica Bryant from WSOC TV and Ryan Jor El.
Picture
Picture
The show featured fourteen fabulous designers! I truly loved and appreciated every one of them, but for the sake of this post I am going to just talk about a few. If you want to see them all you can check out my new video, which is also covering the show. First up was Venancio Tadeo! He is a Columbian designer and uses recyclable materials in his designs.  His Columbian heritage shines through in his designs. From the colors, to elaborate headpieces, to regal capes, and even a set of wings! You never know what he will come up with, but you can always count on it to be dynamic!
Picture

Pixton Design Group was one of the first designs to hit the runway. I really enjoyed their looks. The colors they incorporated in their pieces were the colors of peacocks -one of my favorite animals. It was a very summery, airy, line, even featuring some swimwear. And one dynamic, gold dress -to the left- which I want in my closet so badly!

Flow by Tara Davis was another line I really enjoyed! Tara is such a kind lady! She creates classy pieces that range from every day wear to elegant gowns for a night out!

Snarkeez is one of my all time favorites! Snarkeez has such a fun edge to their line! It is usually all black pieces but features different prints, materials, fishnet or sheer detailing, and boots! This time, however, a very pink, faux fur coat surprised everyone, as it made its way down the runway. Snarkeez always delievers!

Tygerian Lace is the final line I wanted to shout out. I love, love Tyerian Lace! Her pieces are always iconic! And they did not disappoint at the show! This time her use of vibrant colors and prints made a mark on the runway! There were sevearl two-toned pieces and a sparkling, maxi dress that really caught my eye. Great pieces that will be perfect for the summer!

A very poignant moment that stood out to me was when April Simpkins, the mother of the late Cheslie Kryst (Miss USA and public figure who passed away after struggling with depression in 2022) spoke about her daughter.

She spoke about the importance of mental health and how kindness to everyone is so important because you never know what anyone is going through inside.

In my video on Youtube, I let her whole speech play in its entirety.

Mental health is something important to me. I can understand from my own personal experience, how it can become very hopeless, very quickly and that is a truly scary feeling. I'm thankful, a lot of my mental illness and anxiety was tied to my drinking. And I have been able to get a better handle on it.

But that is not always the case for everyone. So, I want to encourage everyone to really listen to that part in the video. Especially if you are struggling. There is help available!

Thank you, guys, so much for reading!

I hope you enjoyed this fun post! And stay safe!

I will see you on Friday!
