Hello all! Happy Monday!

Happy Met Gala Monday! Yesss! Today is the day! I will be keeping up with it tonight and sharing on my Instagram stories as well as putting a post together for you for later on!

Today's post is a very summery look! And it is part 2 of this fun, new crop top I got recently.

It was only $15 and definitely worth it! Actually, fun story about it. I was having a really rough day a week or so ago, and one of my friends' was trying to cheer me up and invited me to run some errands with him to take my mind of things. We hit up Target, which is where I found this little number. We were getting ready to check out and he was like 'I got it, don't worry about it!' He bought it for me!

The kindness of the gesture definitely helped cheer me up a bit! And it has already gotten several uses! I've gotten two blog posts out of it and I wore it last Sat to the fashion shows!

This pairing is probably going to be another constant summer repeat I think. Not only does it have the look of summer, but it is light and airy! Which will come in handy because I have a feeling this is going to be a HOT summer!

The skirt is one of my faves, I have had it for a while. I have always loved the tiered, ruffle look.

I actually had plans to pair the top with the blue, pleated, midi skirt but then I had the idea for the white on white look and was sold instantly.

But you can be sure to look for a future styling post with the blue midi skirt! ;)

Thank you so much for reading and stay tuned to my Instagram for the Met Gala coverage!

See you guys on Wednesday!

Hello and Happy Friday!

I am SO happy for today! I feel like this has been such a long week! Partly because of all the rain we have ended up getting. It is kind of putting a damper on my mood! Don't get me wrong, I love a good rainy day sometimes, but too many in a row sometimes starts to get me down.

But we do need the rain and we do need to take time to slow down and if we will not do it ourselves, I guess Mother Nature will step in and do it for us! xD

Today I am sharing with you a dress that I am all here for! It is actually very reminiscent of the Express romper I styled earlier. Except this is a very feminine dress!

I love the femininity of this dress. I spin and the dress just twirls for days! And I really love the dramatic bell-sleeves!

They are so soft, romantic, and they flow so gracefully that I do not just feel like I am walking in a dress, I feel like I am making an entrance!

In keeping with the dramatic theme, I paired a bold statement necklace with the dress. It is a necklace that I have had for a while and while it does not get styled as much, when it does it really packs a punch!

That is why I cannot bear to part with it!

Picture

I have other plans for ways to style this dress. Primarily I am planning on switching up the accessories. I want to try it with cowgirl boots, booties in general, and maybe some red Mary Jane styled pumps! I also want to try a softer necklace at some point and maybe a light jacket.

Don't worry, you'll be seeing this beauty again soon! =)

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you all have a great weekend and I will see you on Monday! =)

Out and About: at the Agri-Couture Fashion Show!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are all well!

Today I am sharing with you about my weekend this past weekend. I attended the Earth Day fashion shows, presented by Charlotte Seen. They were held at Rural Hill, in a very beautiful, restored barn. The first one at 1:30 featured many looks geared towards kids and adolescents. They were all so beautiful and creative!

Given that it was Earth day, there were many sustainable looks made out of recyclable materials. There was a cardboard gown, two piece sets made out of plastic bags, and even a dress made out of plastic spoons! It was very creative and I would definitely rock the spoon dress! It was cute as could be!

At the second show, is where some of my all-time favorite designers were at!

First we were treated to some words of wisdom from Miss. Earth USA, who shared some small, simple things that we can do for our planet, including incorporating 'meatless Mondays' into our schedule, which I am actually considering!

First up on the runway was one of my favorite designers, Geo in Style. I have seen them several times and each time their designs captivate me! They are so edgy and fun! And this show was no exception. Their pieces featured full head masks, the pant-less look, and mesh fabrics.

Hive and Colony is a menswear boutique that was featured in the show and I really enjoyed them as well. The suits were very well fitted and fresh.

Two other designers I really liked were Zetherin -which featured very sultry, dark pieces. And White Kiku, who was almost the exact opposite! Her designs were brightly colored and fun!

There were a ton of recyclable designers that took the runway that night as well. Most of them had one or two pieces that they were showing, but they were all so creative! I love seeing how someone can take something that most of us would not think anything about -like bottle caps for example, and place them all over a mermaid styled skirt!

At the end of the night the audience got to vote on which recyclable designer was their favorite!

It was such a great night! Everyone did so great! It was a joy to be able to attend! I am already looking forward to the next one!

Thank you guys so much for reading! I will see you on Friday! =)

Feels Like Summer: Crop Top and Floral Pants...

Hello!

Happy Monday to you all! I hope you are doing well!

I had a busy weekend! It was much needed though. I have been feeling a little stressed and down lately, so it was nice to have a fun weekend to change things up a bit.

I attended the Earth Day fashion shows on Saturday, which was really fun! I will be sharing more about that on Wednesday!

But I wanted to write a quick post for today!
Picture

Today's look is one that I have been contemplating for a while now.

I knew I really liked the idea of pairing these floral printed pants with a white crop top, but the one I had in mind was a little too boxy to pair with these pants in particular. I knew I needed something else!

So, I kept my eyes open and found this little crop top at Target. I scooped it up pretty quick, and to be hoInest I had no reservations about it at all. I had a feeling I would be able to style it with SOMETHING in my closet. If not these pants, then maybe a flowy skirt, or high-waisted, paper bag shorts (like what I wore on Saturday to one of the shows!)

Sure enough, it worked perfectly! And when I shot the look, I could not have asked for a more beautiful afternoon!

I have a feeling I will be living in this crop top this summer! ;)

Thanks so much for reading! And stay tuned for Wednesday's fashion show post! Until then, stay safe and well my friends!

Hello and Happy Friday!

I hope you all are having a great week! And we have made it to another weekend!

Although I do hear that this weekend maybe a little on the cooler side, I am still excited! I am off and Saturday I am going to two fashion shows, which I will share with you all! Then Sunday, I will probably get some content in for the upcoming week and take it easy!

Those are my plans! What do you guys have going on?
Picture
Picture
Today's look is one that I am considering wearing to one of the shows this weekend. I found it at Express and it is a very billowy, pleated romper! It was a bit more on the pricey side, but the quality of it really made it all worth it! It is a silky fabric, but also lined on the inside (which makes it perfect for this weekend and it being a bit cooler!)

It is a little hard to tell in these pictures, but this little romper is packing some serious drama!

The exaggerated bell-sleeves for one thing! They have a theatrical feel to them. The pleats are another feature that packs a punch. I love pleats! I think it that is a very small design choice and yet it adds such character to a piece!  And finally at the neckline of the romper it twists!
Picture
Picture
Fun story about the shoes! I used to have some strappy heels with a skinny heel, which is what I wanted to pair with this romper. But I guess I either gave them away or God forbid, lost them, somewhere along the way, so I settled for a less strappy pair.

It was just okay.

But I felt like it was not packing the punch that I wanted them too. So, after already spending a good forty mins taking pictures, I ran across the street to a Rack Room and found these killer heels from Chinese Laundry -one of my favorite brands! And man, I did not even think twice!

They packed the punch I was looking for exactly! =D

What do you guys think?

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you all have a good and safe weekend and I will see you again on Monday! =D

Out and About: at Target's Spring Designer Collab Launch!

Hello all and Happy Wednesday!

Today I have a fun and colorful post to share with you!

This past Saturday, April 15th, Target launched its' Spring designer collaboration featuring the designs of Rhode, Aguabendita, and Fe Noel!
Picture
Picture
Picture
All three labels are women-run and all three all bring together color, patterns, and that summer, beachy, vacation vibe! As soon as I saw the display set up and began looking around, I was already itching to take a vacation! Somewhere tropical would be nice! =)

The designers created over one-hundred pieces for the collab, all with affordable price tags. And most of the pieces are summery pieces that can go from poolside to out and about with ease.

Many of the pieces featured playful design features like cut outs, ruffles, one-shoulder dresses or shirts. While others were more stylish coverups for the various swim suits pieces.

And while each label was unique in their own way, they were all still similar enough that shoppers can pick and choose different pieces and style them together easily!
Picture
Picture
While I did not get anything that day, mainly because I was pushed for time, I have my eye on several pieces! I'm hoping that I'm not too late! These designer pieces rarely last very long!

So, if you are about to head out on vacation, you may want to swing by and see if you can find a few pieces to take with you! And if you're not going on vacation you may want to swing by anyway! Maybe you'll be inspired to book a trip! =)

Thanks for reading and happy shopping! =D

Red Hot: Pleather Shorts, Button Down, Wedges...

Hey everyone and Happy Monday!

I LOVE this look! It is such a great look for a girl on the go! It is also a great spring look! The long sleeves keep me relatively warm in the cool, crisp mornings, but I can also take it off when it gets warm in the afternoon!

Plus, the button down itself is a staple! It is a great transitional piece that can be style all year round! I am so glad I found this one. This is a linen shirt -pros: it is very breathable! Cons: it wrinkles really easily! And I do mean REALLY easily! From just getting these pictures in alone and having it tied that way, it was already really wrinkled. I'll have to keep an iron handy for this one! xD

The red shorts have been in my closet for a little while now and I actually think I love them more now than I did when I first got them! BUT with that said, one thing I will never get over is that they do not have pockets! Grrr!

But I do love the overall fit and color!

Little bit of a funny story for this post!

When I was taking these pictures, apparently the businesses in this particular shopping center were not crazy about me doing that!

A police officer kindly asked me to leave, after getting just a few pictures in. He was very cordial for his part and asked about the blog a little! But ultimately he did ask me to leave that particular area.

That was a first for me!

But it made for a good story! And now I also know a place to avoid -which is a shame because it is a pretty space!

Picture
Picture
You guys may remember waaaaaay back I did a month long style challenge for the month of May. I called it the May Style Challenge -took me forever to come up with that one I know! But basically what I did with it was that for the full month of May I did not buy any new pieces whatsoever. I just restyled the pieces I already owned. I did it as a way to save money because my birthday is in June and I wanted to save up and go on a shopping trip for my birthday.

I am thinking about reviving the May Style Challenge this year! For a few reasons! For one thing I am really trying to be more conscious about sustainability vs fast fashion. I am big on doing what I can to protect the environment and it is not lost on me that the fashion industry is one of the biggest pollutants out there. As best I can, I do not want to contribute to that.

Additionally, I do want to save money as well as challenge myself creatively by finding new ways to restyle beloved pieces and get the most wear out of them!

So stay tuned for that!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a great week! =)

90s Grunge Friday: Distressed Jacket, Graphic Tee, Converses...

Hello and Happy Friday!

Today I am taking a page out of one of my friend's -Kiah's book! Kiah -or A Journey I Deserve on Instagram- recently shared a post about fashion not having to be fussy!

She hit the nail on the head!

While I love getting dressed up or playing around with different styling techniques from time to time, there is something to be said for fashion that is just not fussy! Some days are just low-key, laid-back kind of days and my styling tends to reflect that. And there is not a thing wrong with it!
Picture

Today's look has a 90's grunge vibe to it!

From the graphic tee to the oversized, distressed denim jacket, to the biker shorts, it is a very tom-boyish feel. Girl on the go!

I took these pictures a few Sunday's ago and this is such a great weekend look. I ran errands, grabbed brunch, got the pics in, and had dinner with the family in this look and I felt so comfortable the whole time!

Of course, the jacket did not stay on the whole day. It was more there for the chilly morning! But I will say, this jacket is one of my favorites! I found it at Target and LOVE it! I have already worn it so many times.

My favorite pairing by far is wearing it over a crop top and leggings. It is an easy way to elevate a simple look!

What are you guys getting into this weekend!?

I'll be working sadly, although I am hoping to get up to SHOUT in uptown Charlotte at some point, but I have to hurry! I think I am running out of time for it! :X

Thank you so much for reading! And I will see you on Monday!

Have a great and safe weekend! =D

Fashion Inspo: The Met Gala!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

With May quickly approaching, I wanted to take some time to dive into an event that is coming up that fascinates me! Its the Met Gala! It is held every year on the first Monday of May, and it is dubbed, 'Fashion's biggest night out!'

And rightfully so! The fashion at the red carpet for the Met Gala is unbelievable!

The attendees -Hollywood's best- really go all out for the event! And the bolder -the better!

Of course, it is also a huge night for designers as well. As their designs will be up front and center for the world to see!

So, with that all said, lets dive into the Met Gala a little bit today!
Picture
Picture
The Met Gala (actually named, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Benefit) is held on the first Monday of May every year, as I mentioned earlier. It is held to honor the opening of the museum's spring exhibit. And it is a fundraising event for the museum. Yep, that's right. The Met's Costume Institue fully relies on the donations raised at the Gala to keep it going. Apparently when the Costume Institute was founded, not everyone was on board with the proposition of fashion being considered an art form, so the that department has to fund itself.

Jerks.

Only kidding! (Sort of!)

It has been around for a lot longer than I realized! It was founded in 1948(!) by a lady by the name of Eleanor Lambert. It was not until 1995 that Anna Wintour -the Editor-in-Chief of Vouge- became involved in the event. But once she did, Anna Wintour essentially took over the event. She ultimately has the final say as to who attends and who does not. And apparently you can be uninvited! So, it is best to stay on her good side!
Picture
Picture
Every year there is a different theme for the event. The themes usually coincide with the annual exhibit at the museum following the Gala. This year the theme is honoring the late Karl Lagerfeld and his contribution and brilliance in the fashion industry. In the past the themes have ranged from China: Through the Looking Glass to Superheros: Fashion and Fantasy, to Fashion in the Age of Technology to last year's, In America: An Anthology of Fashion.

And it is truly breathtaking to watch how the celebs and designers interpret these themes and bring a vision to life. A lot of the looks are very over to top intentionally. It is a costume gala after all! They lean hard into it and I am here for it!
Picture
Picture

One of the most interesting things about the Met Gala in my opinion is the rule that once it begins, no one -other than the attendees- really knows what goes on at the event. That is because there is a strict no phone policy in place once the guests head inside.

The secretiveness only adds to the exclusivity of it! Making it all the more fascinating -well to me anyway! But while it does serve that purpose as well, the main reason for the rule is because they want guests to be present for the event, instead of focused on their phones.

While we don't know everything that goes on inside, we do know a few things. They have a really nice dinner. The seating chart is very thought out to accommodate with networking and mingling. And Rihanna once performed on a table!

How about that!

Picture
Picture
I hope you enjoyed this deep dive into the Met Gala!

And you better believe that come Monday, May 1st, you'll be seeing a follow up post that covers all of this year's Met Gala red carpet! I cannot wait!

I know, I know, you guys can't either.... that's why I love you! =D

Thanks for reading! I will see you on Friday!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Also Happy belated Easter! I hope you all had a wonderful day celebrating with family and/or friends.

I had to work but I was still with friends and then family later on! =)

Today's look is a bit more casual than the last few posts.

While I do love dressing up, I also like keeping things pretty casual. This is look that I would rock while running errands or working out (obvi!)

For me, I really love the colors used in this look. The peachy vibes have a very laid-back feel to them while also being very easy to style.

I was really proud of how the pictures in this post came out! I spent a long time shooting in different areas of this park near my house. It is a beautiful park and offers a lot of different activities.

I got lucky and picked a day where it was not very busy, so I got to roam around and try out different locations.

I have tried a few of these spots before but it was fun to still switch things up a bit and get some different shots.

Thank you so much for reading! I truly appreciate it!

I hope you guys have a wonderful week and I will see you on Wednesday! =)
