Hello and Happy New Year!

How is everyone doing?

New Year's at my house was pretty quiet. I used to always want to find something to do and somewhere to go. I felt like I was supposed to. But now I just embrace staying home and in my comfy clothes. I have accepted that is who I am, and I am -now- a ok with it! My family always has some good food, and we sometimes play games or watch movies until midnight. So, I thoroughly enjoyed my night.

I hope you all did as well!

While I did not go out for New Years Eve, I did go out the night before to a fashion show! And this is the dress I wore!

It is from New York and Company, and I felt so incredibly glamorous in this dress! I loved wearing it!

Paired with a faux fur, white coat (which was a thrifted find!) I felt  very much like old school Hollywood glamour!

The dynamic red is stunning!

I tried to stick with the red and white theme for the whole look. From shoes to accessories, and a bright, bold, red, lip!

Good news! If you like this dress and are in need of a fancy dress, this one is on sale! I will link it below.

I loved wearing this dress so much! It was a great way to ring in the New Year (a day early!) I am already looking forward to wearing it out again soon -hopefully!

I hope you all have a great first day of the new year! Be safe and take it all one day at time!

Thanks for reading! See you on Wednesday!

Hello, Happy Friday, and welcome to the last post of the year!

Also, Happy Birthday to my Dad!

This has been a hell of a year! I would say mostly good overall! There of course were ups and downs. But the downs were nothing like some in prior years. And the ups -man were they something special!

We Went to Seattle!

This was our first family trip in years! It was also a place I had been wanting to go to for a long time! I'm a big Fraiser fan and I have wanted to see the Space Needle for years! After conquering my anxiety about flying (it was my first time in a LOnG time) we had a great time sight-seeing and touring Seattle. Then my sis and I said goodbye to our parents, as they went on to an Alaskan cruise, and we spent a day in Seattle on our own! As good as it felt to get home, it was definitely a trip for the books!
Picture
I Saw Beyonce!

This was probably the most magical night of my life -so far! I have been loving Queen Bey since the early days of Destiny's Child! As a grown woman now myself, and trying to turn this blog into a business, I am constantly in awe of her work ethic and professionalism. And of course, she put on one hell of a show! I danced my heart out all night and of course, shed a few tears of happiness! I have already seen the movie as well and it was equally as amazing!

I Got a New Tattoo!

Shortly after getting back from Seattle, to commemorate our experience, my sister and I decided to get tattoos. I had recently celebrated my first year of sobriety, so I went with a simple cross. I am not wildly religious, but getting sober has definitely helped me build a relationship with God which I had been neglecting for a long time.

I Got a New Car!

Man, I am so proud of myself for this one! I was having some issues with old car and finally decided to look for something else.

This experience was vastly different than when I got my old car. For one thing I actually wanted to get a new car and had money to put down on it.

My Dad accompanied me to the dealership and gave me some tips for how to negotiate with the salesman, but he really let me take the reigns on this purchase.

I negotiated the price and got it pretty damn close to what I wanted! (Especially considering what the salesman initially proposed!)

I Saw Santa!

For the first time since I was a kid!

I treated myself to the Holiday Light Spectacular earlier in December, and while I was there, I got to see the big man himself!

I like a kid all over again!

I Celebrated a Year of Sobriety!

I sometimes still cannot believe I actually made it a full year sober! It has been such a journey! Sometimes good, sometimes bad, and sometimes challenging. But I am so grateful to be sober and I am certain I would not have been able to have any of those other experiences if I were not sober. I am just taking everything one day at a time.

Thank you all so much for reading! And joining me on this journey! I really appreciate it! And I cannot wait to share more in the next year.

Please be safe!

And Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas my loves!!!

I hope you guys are all having a wonderful day!

I just wanted to share a quick post for today!

This is such a cozy yet stylish look!

This sweater, from Shein, is SO soft! I really like the mixture of green, white, and black and the abstract display of all of them. I tried to continue the theme of darker hues by pairing with it black tights, shorts, and booties.

For a bit of fun, I threw in a blushing pink colored bag for an unexpected twist!

Hello and Happy Friday!

And Happy Holidays! My computer updated over the summer -I think- and since then it has tried to finish sentences for me. I tend to find it really annoying but I guess ideally it is supposed to save a tiny bit of time? Anyway, every time I type Happy Monday or Friday, it always suggests happy holidays. SO, today I am finally going to let it have its' way; Happy Holidays!

Today I have an absolutely stunning dress to share with you! It is from New York and Company and it has easily become one of my favorites! The thing is though, it is pretty fancy! So, it won't get as much wear as it deserves. At least I do not think it will. But who knows?!

This dress hits all of the right stops!

First of all, the deep, forest green color is beautiful! It is one of my favorites because of how elegant it feels. Additionally, the dress hugs all of my curves and as if that were not sexy enough, that small cut out really kicks up the sexiness up a notch!
It makes for a stunning holiday look! If you are going out for a holiday party, or an orchestra/symphony -this dress is perfect!

I appreciate other details of this dress as well, for example, there is a lot of rouching on the back of the dress in particular. I love rouching! I think it is a very flattering detail.

The tan colored peacoat is a perfect piece to pair with the dress. It has a natural flow!

While shooting (and later editing) these pictures, I really wish I knew more about photography and lighting in particular. I feel like the lighting in a few of these pictures do not do the dress the justice it deserves. It's harder to tell that it is green in a few of the pictures.

Maybe in the new year, I will make it my goal to retake a photography class and get a better grasp on how to take better pictures! We shall see!

Thank you so much for reading! I will see you on Monday/Christmas!

Have a safe weekend ahead!

Baby, Its Cold Outside: Layered Look, Peacoat and Sweatshirt...

Burrrr! It has been SO cold lately!

I mean, it is December, so tis the season! But it makes dressing harder! Those cold, early mornings are so hard -at least for me- to really pick out outfits. I just want to stay in my pjs or -even better- snuggled up in my bed!

But since that is not an option, I have to plan my looks ahead of time. So, in the morning all I have to do is grab and go!

Today is a comfortable, layered look. I paired a boohoo.com sweatshirt underneath a peacoat, and over a denim skirt.

Initially, I really just liked the sweatshirt with the skirt. But the day I took these pictures, it was so cold! So, I threw on the peacoat for extra warmth. I ended up loving the way it looked! The long lengths of both the skirt and the coat was an unexpected, fun twist!

Who is ready for Christmas? I think I am almost ready! I have really enjoyed the season this year. I've enjoyed getting out and about to different events. I have a few more gifts to get, and these are the gifts I am stumped on! I am going to have to get really creative!

Thanks so much for reading! I will be back on Wednesday with a new video and some more Christmas fun to share with you! =D

Have a great and safe week ahead!

Santa Baby: Swing Dress, Faux Fur Coat...

Hello and Happy Friday!

It has been a weird week for me! I've felt like I was a day off the whole week!

But I am really getting into the holiday spirit! From going to different holiday events, to getting pictures in front of Christmas trees, to buying and wrapping gifts, and even editing the holiday content! It has really helped me be present in the moment and enjoy the season.

Picture

I went over to Rea Farms today's pictures. I could not resist getting a few pictures in front of the Christmas tree there and underneath this ornament shaped decor! I know, I know -its corny! But you know me! I AM corny! ;D

This look I am wearing is a look that I wore out to a shopping event with my bestie, Vikee (Designer Diva). It ended up being perfect for the event. I didn't feel overdressed nor was I too warm ever. I felt very comfortable the whole time. And then I liked the look so much, I decided to make it today's post!

The coat is faux fur and it was a thrifted find! I have had it for a few years -maybe 2? But it always seems to come through when I need it!

See you guys on Monday!

Dashes of Pink: Fuchsia Booties, Batwing Sweater...

Hello! Happy Monday!

I hope you guys are not sick of this camel colored peacoat, because it is really coming through for me this holiday season!

Not only does it keep me nice and warm, but -bonus points- it elevates every look quite a bit! So, you maybe seeing this a lot this season!
Picture
Picture
This look is very cozy! I paired a large, batwing sweater with distressed boyfriend jeans.

This sweater is one I have had for several years now, and it has really paid itself off! In fact, I actually got it at the same time as the pleated blue skirt. They are both two of my favorite pieces! I love the way this sweater drapes! It is oversized but not overwhelmingly so. The drama is all in the sleeves, which are designed similarly to wings of a bat -hence the name!

For a bit of color, I played with two different shades of pink. A light pink color with the bag, and fuchsia with the booties!

Another fun -well fun to me at least!- contrast I played around with was structure verses draping. The sweater drapes loosely, as I mentioned earlier, while the bag is very much structured and has a distinct shape. The jeans have a looser, more casual fit, while the peacoat has more defined, crisp lines.

It is a pretty subtle detail, but it is something I tend to enjoy playing around with.

I think all of the pieces in this look are repeats, ones I have had for quite sometime so I do not think there are any links to any of these, but I will still share where I found them, so you can check out those shops if you're in the mood to give your closet a makeover!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you had a great weekend, and I hope you have a great week ahead!

See you on Wednesday for some holiday fun!

Shine Bright Like a Diamond: Tiered, Ruffled, Sparkly Dress...

Hello and Happy Friday!

I have been waiting FOREVER to share this dress with you!

I got this back in September on Boohoo. I thought it looked like a fun dress for the holidays and -as the case with many pieces I get- I had a pretty clear idea of how I wanted to style it.

I had a clear idea of the pictures I wanted to take with this dress. And I have a pretty clear idea of places I will be wearing it this holiday season!
Picture
Picture
I was surprised when I tried it on that it is a bit of a heavier material than I imagined it would be. Which worked out nicely because it was cold when I took these pictures!

I was drawn to it because of the shimmery sequins -of course!- but also the design. I love the tiered ruffles. Ruffles, in my opinion, always put me in the mood for a party! They add a bit of character and texture to looks, this dress is a prime example!

The red lip and the red blazer were a lovely dash of color!

I love taking pictures this time of year! Christmas decorations make for such great backgrounds!

I am so grateful that people are patient with me while I take these pictures. As much as I try to stay out of the way, I'm sure I have been in the way sometimes. Thankfully everyone has been pretty kind to me or pays me no attention -which truthfully is even better! (I'm a little self-conscious when I take these pictures!) Thanks to everyone I encounter while I'm out shooting for being so nice to me! I really appreciate it!

Thanks for reading! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Renaissance: Queen Bey Shirt, Asymmetrical Bag...

Hello and Happy Monday!

I'm going to kick this week off with a pretty simple and pretty casual look.

Over the weekend, I treated myself to seeing Renaissance: The Movie! It was a behind the scenes look at Beyonce putting together her Renaissance tour as well as re-living the actual concert or-in my case- the most magical night of my life!

It was fascinating to hear about how much time and work went into the show. Also, seeing the way Beyonce is involved in nearly every aspect of the show and how she conducts herself in a professional manner in all of the different situations that came up. It is inspiring and gives me a whole new respect for her.

In the film, Beyonce talks about the meaning of Renaissance. The word itself means renewal or rebirth. And throughout the film, she notes how it is applicable in different ways. For example, coming out on the other side of the pandemic, we all experienced a rebirth of some kind. She personally, went through some things including a knee surgery, but persevered and came back stronger than before.

I feel like I have undergone a rebirth myself this year. I have gotten to know my authentic self and become the best version of myself. I feel I have a better feel of who I am and goals I am working towards.

Creatively, I feel like I have a better sense of style that suits me. I have a better eye when it comes to taking and editing pictures, and I have a much clearer picture of ideas that I want to bring to life. Plus, I have the courage to actually make these things happen!

Picture
Picture
I did, however, want to look the part! I wanted to wear something on point with the Renaissance theme!

Unlike a lot of the Beyhive, I decided to go a much more laid back route, mainly because it was a spur of the moment decision to go to the movie and I had just worked ten hours!

This look was perfect! Color wise it was right on point! Of course, the Beyonce shirt -which I got at the concert- was an easy choice!

Renaissance aside, it is also a great look just to wear out and about. It is an easy, laid-back look that is comfortable! It could also easily be dressed up with heels and some extra accessories!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this post. If you have seen the movie, I hope you liked it and that is spoke to you the way it spoke to me!  I left feeling so inspired and honestly, pure joy!

Thanks for reading and being with me on this journey!

Have a great day and a great week! See you on Wednesday! =D
