The Sneaker Ball: A Sneaker Lover's Heaven!

Hello all! Happy Friday!

Let me set the scene for you! It is a brisk Saturday night. The vibes are high! The music is blasting! Everyone is look glamourous and the on their feet? Only the best sneakers! Classic sneakers! Sneakers that have been worked hard for, cared for, and may even be a part of a curated collection. Now, they are worn proudly!

Welcome to the Kicks and Fros Sneaker Ball!

Hosted by Young Affiliates and held at the Mint Museum on Randolf, the Sneaker Ball was a kickoff party for a limited time sneaker exhibit that is being held at the museum.

As part of the event, we were able to see the exhibit!

I personally am not a sneaker aficionado, but the friend I went with is! He was like a kid on Christmas as we perused the exhibit! Telling me about the different sneakers and their history, packaging, and significance. It was certainly a joy to watch him experience the exhibit as a sneaker lover!

Even though I am not a sneaker aficionado, I am a creative and I really enjoy that aspect of the exhibit. The shoe designs were extremely creative! There were the original sneakers that first kicked off a brand. The original converse shoe, the original Doc Martins, etc. Then you got to see the evolution of the sneaker, how they began designing them to make them better and more ergonomical. Then you got to the sneakers where you can see the designer really having some fun! Takashi Murakami is a perfect example! He had at least two pairs of sneakers on display that were truly unique! Sneakers with cartoonish looking spikes on the sides of the shoe (which is my favorite!) and an octopus themed shoe.

Some sneakers really blew your mind! Like the biomorphic shoe down below. It has a futuristic/alien look to it but interestingly it designed to have lightweight and natural feel for the wearer.

I mentioned earlier how important the packaging for the shoes is. For a true sneaker lover, they are equally as important as the shoes themselves. But why? Well, of course it prevents damage while the shoe is enroute. But the packaging is also designed specifically to create an experience during the unboxing of the sneaker. Of course, that makes sense in this day and age, the age of social media and influencing. But sneaker brands have been doing this for years!

It has become a known thing that sneaker brands are thoughtful and thorough in their packaging. It clearly identifies them as a brand and builds a loyal fan base of customers.

It was a wonderful evening and I'm so grateful to have gotten to experience it!

Thank you for reading and if you're able to get over to the Mint Museum on Randolf I would HIGHLY recommend this exhibit! It is a lot of fun!

Have a great weekend! See you on Monday!

Hello all! Happy Monday!

I hope you guys had a great weekend. I did! I will be sharing more about it in a future post, but I went to a sneaker ball! It was a blast!

The weather has been perfect lately! Not too hot or cold, sunshine, we have had a bit of rain in the evenings, and with the leaves changing it has been so beautiful! I enjoyed taking these pictures because of the windy morning and all of the leaves around. It captures the autumn feel so perfectly!

This look was a huge hit with my mom, which to be honest, surprised the heck out of me!

I wore this out to see a movie during Halloween week, and when I came downstairs my mom immediately was like 'Oo that is a good look! I like that! I better see it on the blog!'

Well, Mom, here you go!

I do love the way it came out. It will probably be one of my go-to looks for fall/winter, heck maybe even early spring! It is comfortable, stylish, and it really commands attention!

The cow print in such a big trend right now and I can see why! It is a bit abstract and a bit of a break from the usual leopard, cheetah, or zebra print (though, they aren't going anywhere! Don't worry!)

Plus, the sheer body suit elevates the look! The lacy material kind of mixes with the cow print, for that mixing print look.

The coat is a thing of dreams! I found it on Amazon two years ago and never looked back. It is extremely versatile. It came in handy too when I went to the movie, because it rained a little on our way out and it acted as a raincoat. The rain just repelled off the coat and left me mostly dry!

Thank you for reading! I will see you again on Wednesday! Have a great week!

Red to Kick Off Holiday Season!

Hello and Happy Monday!

I'm kicking off this first week of November with a bold, holiday look! Well, not exactly holiday I suppose, but I tend to associate red with Christmas/holidays and red is front and center in this look!

So, I'm counting it as a holiday look!
Picture

I had paired the shorts and crop top together a while ago and really liked the way it looked. But at the time it was too hot to style. But the idea lingered in the back of my mind and now that it is finally cool, I decided to style it!

The problem? It did not hit the way I remembered. I felt like something was lacking. Now, I am not exactly sure how I got to red tights, kitten heels, and beret plus the jacket, but I am so glad I did! I love how the red packs a punch for this look, but the shorts, blue, and white in the jacket kind of break up the red so that it is not overwhelming.

I am so excited to play around more with tights this season! I had a lot of fun with them last year and I want to continue this year! (Much to my mother's chagrin!)

I got lucky and found a stranded shopping cart, while I was out shooting this look!

I know a shopping cart hates to see me coming because I will definitely use it for a prop!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a great week ahead! See you on Wednesday!

Hello all! Happy Friday!

And Happy Halloween!

Today's post is a special one for me at least! The focal point is these really cute boots! And the best part?! They were a surprise from a good friend of mine!

I work with him and one night we were texting back and forth about our day and somehow got on the topic of Amazon wish lists. He asked what was on my wish lists and I showed him a few things, including these boots. A few days later he texted me to tell me my boots came!

What!?!

Cute water works! I got so teary eyed! Lol

Immediately, I got to work styling them!

I had been wanting some cowboy boots for a while, but they had to be the right pair! When I came across these, I knew they were the right ones!

I was delighted by their unique design! The blue hearts, lightning bolts, and stars! It encompasses my personality completely!

I was surprised by how much I really liked them paired with this dress! It was a styling option I decided to just try out, not really expecting much but once I saw the two pieces together, it was kismet!

The dress is actually a thrifted find! Originally from Zara. I love the color and the detailing! It is beautiful!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Halloween!

See you guys on Monday!

The Great Pumpkin Patch!

Hello everyone! I have a fun, fall post for you today!

Are you still in need of a pumpkin for Halloween on Friday!? Well, hurry on over to the cutest pumpkin patch, Matthews Family Pumpkin Patch and Christmas Tree Lot!

I was spending some time over in the Waxhaw area when I came across this cute, CUTE pumpkin patch and I knew I wanted to stop by and check it out! Admittedly, my first instinct was 'wouldn't that be so cute for a blog shoot!?' Though I wanted to check it out either way! I was able to get permission from the family, to take a few shots there!
Picture
Picture
This place has SO much to choose from! Rows and rows of pumpkins of different sizes and colors!

It really looked like a place out of a Hallmark movie! With flowers, hay bales set up beautifully, and areas specifically designated for family pictures! Including a huge hale bale painted pink to look like a pig, a barn, and a tractor! I was in heaven! It was so gorgeous!

The day I went, it was a gorgeous afternoon! I spent half an hour perusing the whole patch, taking pictures, and picking a small pumpkin! All of them were reasonably priced. You can also purchase hay bales and flowers if you so want!

Apparently, there are also goats there! (Sadly, they were not there when I went). but apparently, if you go and see them you can feed them for a quarter! Maybe, I will have to go back.... lol!

As we move towards the holiday season, you can also head over to the Matthews family for your Christmas tree! I can already imagine a chilly afternoon with hot coffee or chocolate, all bundled up, roaming around searching for the perfect tree! Ahh! I am already getting so excited! =D I believe they begin selling Christmas trees the Friday after Thanksgiving. I will keep you posted!

Thank you, guys, for reading! I hope you are able to stop by and grab a pumpkin and make some fun, family memories!

Moooove Over: Cow Print is Here!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you are all doing well!

I am starting off this week strong with this season's hottest print -cow print!

I have been obsessed with this print for a bit now! It is everywhere, and I love it!

It has a luxurious feel it, and on top of that, it is a versatile print! There is so much you can do with it! These jorts are really great for transitioning into fall. Of course, for this look I styled them with red stockings, but I plan on styling them without in a future post and I think they still work perfectly for fall.
Picture
Picture
My first inclination when I got these jorts, was to style it with my varsity jacket. I knew I would like the way the red popped against the cow print. And I really wanted to lean into a fall feel. (I probably could have gotten away with a cropped, white tee underneath). So, I opted to really embrace the red!

Red turtleneck, red stockings, red heels, and red bag!

I love it! I feel like this look has an elevated, sporty kind of feel to it. It keeps me warm and expresses my maximalist personality!

What do you think of the collection of pins on my jacket? It has been slowly growing over time!

Anytime I go somewhere, I look for pins or broaches to add to the jacket! I think it adds so much character!

Thank you so much for reading and being here!

I hope you all have a great start to the week!

I have a few fun things coming up and I cannot wait to share them with you!

Stay safe!

A Perfect Fall Fit!

Happy Monday!

I feel like this past weekend was the PERFECT fall/October weekend! It was chilly, cloudy, even rainy at times, and there were great classic horror movies on all weekend! I definitely spent the majority of the weekend cuddling with my pups while watching movies and editing pictures!

I also carved a Jackolatern!

That was.... interesting! It turned out pretty spooky, but it was pretty hit or miss there for a bit!

When I think of fall weather and fall outfits, THIS is what comes to mind!

Thick, chunky scarves. Layers! Coats and sweaters! And boots!

This dress is a thing of beauty! My Aunt and I found it -well she found it first- on a shopping trip to the thrift store, Reclectic. I loved it though, and asked if I could borrow it for this shoot! I love so much of it! The way it flows and the print in particular are both so beautiful!

I really loved the way it looked with the chunky scarf! I was not sure how it would look at first, but I had a vision.

Lo and behold, it worked perfectly! Especially when paired with this cropped, trench jacket!

I am going to make this a bit of a shorter post because I am worn out -all that movie watching caught up with me! ;D

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more fall styling!

Gaga-Licious: Shades of Purple!

Hello and Happy Monday my friends!

Guess what?!

I have another fun look for you today! =D

This look I styled specifically for two occasions, the Lady Gaga concert a few weeks ago and Charlotte Fashion Week! For Lady Gaga I paired it with my converses instead of heels, because I fully believe in being comfortable! And while it was a bit more of a funkier vibe, it was still pretty stylish! It especially worked for a concert.

I also ended up not wearing it for Fashion Week because... I got the opportunity to work as an assistant stylist during Fashion Week! It has been such a pinch-me weekend! I worked with Elisha Cutter, designer of The Box Method, helping style the models, steam the garments, get the looks to the right models, help with speed changes, and set up and clean up at the end of the nights, and I loved it!

Elisha is not only a talented designer, but she is so gracious, professional, and kind! It was a joy and an honor to work with her, and I look forward to working with her in the future!

I will also share more on this in the next post; I just need time to edit pictures and organize my thoughts! xD

This is one of my favorite looks for a few reasons. I feel like each part of this outfit works to create a LOOK. Each piece is specific and needed to get the desired results.

I love the various shades of purple. I think that keeps it very fun and unique. The skirt is such a great piece! It has so much character! It is a great color, print, and the ruffles really elevate it! I can see this being a great piece going into the fall and winter. I am already envisioning it with boots and sweaters!

The best part? The skirt and shoes are both thrifted pieces! So, I probably spent $9 on them all together!

Thank you all for reading! I'm tired and heading to bed to prepare for the week ahead!

I love you guys! See you Wednesday!

Have a great week!

Baby Blues: And Touches of Beige...

Hello all! Happy Monday!

And Happy Fashion Week, to all who celebrate! This week kicks off Charlotte Fashion Week, which is always a good time but I will be exhausted by the end of it! =D

I've had fun planning my fashion week looks as well! I have three down, and I just need one more to complete the week!

But, on to today's look!
Picture
Picture
This look is almost a completely thrifted look, minus the sweater and booties! The skirt, hat, and bag are all thrifted finds! (I have gotten really into thrifting lately, and I have found great pieces!)

I think this is such a great fall look. It is warm enough for cooler mornings, but cool enough for the warmer afternoons. And I really love the color combination. The baby blues and beiges really complement one another so beautifully!
Picture

The bag I became obsessed with! It is actually my mom's bag, and it's a Coach bag! It is the perfect amount of slouch; the belt detail is too cute! I was so impressed that my mom found it at a thrift shop! Go ahead, Mama!

The hat, I have a love/hate relationship with. It is so cute! And it completes this look perfectly! BUT it does not stay on my head that well. You may notice in most of these pictures I am holding on to it, that is because it does not stay on my head! I am a little bit bummed about that. I don't know how much wear I will get out of it. But I may look to see if there are ways to pin it, so that it stays a little better.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy! And have a great week ahead!

Chicago Round 2!

Hello all and Happy Friday!

What a week!

It began by flying back to Chicago with my sister to see the one and only, Lady Gaga!

While we were there, we explored the city a bit. I showed her two of my favorite places from my first time in Chicago. The Sky Deck, and The Bean! The Sky Deck was incredible as always! This time it was a beautiful, sunny day so it was arguably even more incredible than last time!
Picture

We grabbed a quick bite inside the Willis Tower before heading off to my favorite place, The Bean!

Upon exiting the Willis Tower, I instantly clocked a pedicab parked outside and convinced my sister into riding it to the Bean, much to her chagrin. We rode through the city, blasting Lady Gaga to get us in the spirit for the show! Our bike driver was nice, and we caught him shimmying a time or two on our trip.

The Bean was just as magical to me as it was the time before!

We found a hotdog/lemondade stand where we got a Chicago style hot dog. It was remarkable! Sweet relish, jalapenos, a pickle spear, mustard, onions (don't quote me on this, I may be incorrect on some of the toppings). But you know, it was really good! A very interesting combination of flavors but not bad! I would definitely try it again!

After a little bit of a rest, it was time for the show!

It was incredible! Almost hard to put into words! Gaga was at the top of her game the whole show! It was extremely theatrical. There were a lot of costume changes, set changes, and high energy performances! She performed almost all of the songs on the Mayhem album as well A LOT of her big hits throughout the years!

As excited as I was for the show, I was really happy for my sister. She's been a HUGE Gaga fan for years! She had gotten tickets to another concert years earlier and Gaga ended up breaking her hip and had to cancel. So, this was the next opportunity my sister has had to see her all these years later. And it was so wholesome to see her so happy and excited!

So, Roo (her nickname!) thanks for a great time in Chicago! I'll go back anytime!
