Hello and Happy Monday!

Fresh off of Charlotte Fashion Week and ready to hit the ground running!

Today's look is a fun fall look that has a bit of a 70's feel to it.

Granted, when I took these pictures, it was still really warm! Now, however, it would be perfect to wear out and about!

The vest in particular is interestingly enough probably the warmest part of the look. It keeps in heat really well! Which will be great now that it is cooler! I have a longer one in a teal color that is also really insulated!

I personally love styling the cropped version of the vest. (Interesting that the cropped style has carried over into autumn!) And I love the neutral color of it. It makes it easy to style!

The denim cargo skirt is another new piece. It is really cute, but I have to be a little careful getting out of cars as it is a bit on the short side!

I have a ton to share with you on Wednesday! So, stay tuned! Also, wish me luck! I am in the process of buying my first home! I'm excited, nervous, stressed, but trying not to be stressed all at the same time!

I think I have found a place I like! I'm putting an offer in but I guess time will tell if I get it or not!

Fingers crossed!

Thanks for reading!  =D

Hello and Happy Friday!

I am right in the middle of Fashion Week here and it has been such a blast so far! I cannot wait to share more with you next week!

The wide array of styles that I have seen are partial what inspired this look!

Tulle is one of my all-time favorite fabrics! It can create a range of different looks! From show stopping to (like in today's look) very feminine and serene.

The blush pink color is neutral enough to be style with many different colors, and the tiered design gives it a great deal of character!

The black and white striped turtleneck top is a great contrast against the skirt.

Hello and Happy Monday!

What a week last week was! I was so lucky I was able to turn my brain off for a few hours last night and just laugh when I saw Roy Wood Jr.! It was a much-needed release!

I feel a little better today, and ready to start this week!

Fashion Week!
Picture

To kick off the week I recently played around with fabrics, denim in particular.

I paired this strapless, patchwork denim dress with an oversized, distressed, denim jacket. I was not sure at first if I would like the denim on denim, but I decided to give it a try.

As soon as I tried it on together, I loved it!

It was as if they were meant to go together!

I kept the rest of the look pretty simple and did not introduce any other pops of color. I opted for more neutral hues.

I really prefer the knee-high boots with the look to booties of the same color -granted I probably would have been a bit cooler! xD

Thank you so much for reading! And I will have a new video ready to share with you! =D

Have a wonderful week!

Hello all and Happy Friday!

I hope you are all doing well! It has been a really productive week! I got a lot of looks shot and felt very inspired! This week I get to focus on Fashion Week next week! I am so excited for it!

I will be sharing it all with you guys! On here and on YouTube! So, stay tuned for that!

Also, on Sunday I am going to see Roy Wood Jr. with one of my best friends!

There is a lot coming up! And I am so excited and prepared to be mentally and physically worn out come October! Lol!

This is another fall look that I am in love with!

I got this printed, swing dress from LOFT last year and it has been such a great piece! The fabric is so airy and light weight it is perfect transitional piece. In the spring I pair it with sandals or heels and perhaps a denim jacket. But for fall, I like to pair it with booties or sneakers. This is the first time I tried styling it with knee-high boots.

Personally, I think the colors flow perfectly. The maroon is different enough to pop, but it is still in the purple color family, so it does not compete.

I also could not have asked for a more beautiful day! The clouds and sky are stunning in the pictures! Add to that, it is finally beginning to feel like fall! Cooler temps and breezes! I am here for it!

Thank you so much for reading!

Have a great and safe weekend ahead!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!!

Another quick post for today!

Today is a double feature! A post and a video! And they are both covering the Charlotte International Art Festival!

Last year I went on a whim and had a blast! So, I was VERY excited when they announced it was returning this year! I wanted to make sure that I got to both locations and saw all there was to see!
Picture
Picture
The exhibits are equal parts stunning and fun! Last year one of the biggest installations was called 'The Thinking Man' and this year, there were two new ones, lounging about, in his place!
Picture
Many of the installations are lit up at night, which makes for a whole different experience! I am hoping to check it out in the evening before it ends on October 1st.

If you are able, you should definitely check out the art festival! It is great for the whole family or a great date idea! There is plenty to do and see, and much of it is free of charge! It lasts until October 1st! So, hurry up!

Maybe I will see you there!

Have a great day! Thanks for reading! =D

Hello and Happy Monday!

Just a quick post for today! Today's look you may recognize from my vlog about fall looks!

It is one that I have been incorporating more and more in my fall wardrobe. It is a great way to wear your slip dress all year round. Plus, it is effortless!
Picture
Picture
You do not have to fuss much in the morning over what to wear, you can just throw it on and go!

That is what I like, especially when I have early morning appointments. In fact, I wore this very look to a counseling appointment last week. It was an 8:30am appointment and when waking up I was rethinking all of my life choices. BUT this was not one of them! =D

Playing with Lengths: Crop Vs. Maxi and a Pop of Fuchsia!

Hello all! And Happy Friday!

I have been so excited to share this look with you since.... maybe July? Lol. I kept seeing this cropped trench coat online and almost immediately I envisioned this entire look. I got the coat and tried the look on and LOVED it. I could not wait to take pictures and share it, but there was no way I was about to take pictures in this outfit in July. I would die!

I was doing well to get them in earlier this week, and even then, I was running pretty warm!

If you happened to see my video this Wednesday, you probably already heard me say that! xD

I love this look for several reasons!

For one thing, I think it is an interesting combination -a cropped piece paired with a maxi piece. Both pieces are pretty timeless pieces. And easy to restyle many different ways.

Styled together, they create such a simple, chic look that can be casual enough for day-to-day activities, but also dressed up for a night out!

Of course, my signature style is to add a pop of color and the pop of color is these gorgeous fuchsia booties!

I got them towards the end of the season last year, so I did not get much wear out of them. But this year will be a different story! Hopefully you guys won't be sick of them!

I want to thank everyone for reading and watching my videos, from the bottom of my heart! It truly means so much to me! I'm grateful to be able to share my journey with you!

Have a great weekend ahead! And I will see you all on Monday! =D

Spotlight Series: Netty Parker!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!!

Today I have a special post to share with you!

It has been a while since I did a Spotlight Series post! I met Netty Parker a while back -maybe two years back? at an event with Level21. We chatted a little and exchanged socials. I've been lowkey following him and his music career ever since -and it is a joy to see where it has taken him! I was finally curious enough I wanted to know more about his journey as an artist and musician and I am lucky enough to be able to share it with you all today!

Born in the Bronx, NY, Netty was always drawn to music. As a child he would watch music videos and listen to music constantly. "I have always been into music but starting out, I did not really have the tools available to make music," he said. He was inspired early on by the movie 'Hustle and Flow.'' "I remember watching that movie, being inspired, and realizing you can just make music right from your own home," he told me.

At the age of 10, he moved to Lincolnton, NC with his dad where he really begin focusing on music. "There were not as many distractions," he explained, "and we began to invest in equipment. Piece by piece." They ended up building a whole studio in their home. One of the most interesting things that Netty shared with me in this interview, was that his biggest obstacle when it came to making music was that he did not have any real knowledge or experience in how to go about making the music.

To hear that answer, it felt so honest to me and so relatable! I cannot tell you how many dreams and goals I have but I have no idea how to even begin to go about it!

For Netty, the internet was his resource. Everything he learned about making music he searched online. In fact, it played such a role in his upcoming as a musician, that he even named his company Internet Records.

While he has accomplished quite a bit already, Netty told me that his biggest accomplishment thus far is a song he wrote called, 'Like Me.' "I produced, wrote, recorded, and came up with the video treatment where my business partner paid to get it done," he told me, "That video hit over 3000 views! That is when I knew I could do it." I watched the video for 'Like me' and it is really good! It is fun, entertaining, and the overall quality is fantastic!

One thing that always interests me is learning about other people's creative processes. So, of course I had to ask! For Netty, his creative process stems from life experiences and channeling the feelings from those experiences into music. "I go through it, hold on to it, and then shed it away slowly, through music," he summed up. I have to imagine for musicians this is probably a common process, but the way Netty worded his responses to my questions were so well thought out and interesting.
Picture

In my opinion, one of the things that sets him apart from many other artists is in his goal; his main goal is to "make your products with products." For example, Netty shoots all of his videos on iPhones and puts them out. "Art and creativity is right in front of you," he said, "it is even in your hands."

In fact, that is his advice to other artists out there; "just do it -like Nike!" he laughed, "it doesn't matter if you have all the pieces, just start where you are at and keep moving forward."

Again, this sentiment is one that really resonates with me! Nothing will ever be perfect starting out, but you have to start somewhere.

So, what is next for Netty Parker?

"It is a little hard to share what I am working on because it can change easily," he told me. But don't worry! Because he is always working on something!  In fact, he just dropped an album called 'Might Need Help 2' which came out on August 28th. You can listen to it on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and Deezer.

I see a bright future in store for Netty! And I am going to keep watching to see where he goes next!

Huge thank you to Netty Parker for taking the time to chat with me! And you can follow him on IG:

Thanks for reading and I will see you on Friday! =D

Pop of Color: Orange Dress, Long Sweater...

Hey all! Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a great weekend! I am excited for this week! I have a lot of fun ideas that I am eager to begin working on!

Today is the second post with a fall inspired look! This one is especially cozy! A perfect look for running around during the day. If you're in school, its' a great casual look for classes! It is also a way to restyle a summer dress and get more wear out of it!

This is something I absolutely love to do! Restyle a summer dress for a different season. I feel like that is what makes a piece truly great. Again, it is a great transitional look, because neither the sweater nor the dress is very heavy. But when it inevitably gets warm in the afternoons, you can always take the sweater off and be cooler.

I am doing another closet purge, and really trying to get rid of things that I have not worn often or are more challenging to find ways to restyle.

I know you guys probably think I do this all the time. And I do, lol. I think it is important to edit my closet relatively often just to make sure I am wearing things and not just accumulating pieces that just hang in my closet.

I find it also helps me when I am in a creative slump. When I begin pulling things out that I have not worn in a while, and finding ways to style them, it kind of forces me to be creative!

I was planning to get rid of this sweater, I did not really want to, but I've had it for a while and barely worn it in the last year. Thankfully, I let my mom see some of the things I was going to donate and she wanted the sweater! So, at least it is still in the family for now!

Thank you so much for reading! I really appreciate it! On Wednesday I have a special post for you that I am excited about! I hope you stay tuned for that!

Have a great week ahead! =)

Hello! Welcome back! And Happy Friday to you!

I hope you have all had a great week this week! I have had one hell of a productive week! And I am trying to keep up that momentum through the weekend.

I have a few posts coming up that I am working on and hoping to have ready by next week!

Also, I am getting ready for Charlotte Fashion Week later this month.

This is my first fall themed look!

It is a dressier look that I have been thinking of all summer. It was just too hot to pair both the jeans and the blazer together. So, I waited to share it.

Alas, though it may be technically seasonally appropriate, the temps are still pretty warm. The holes in the jeans and the crop top add a bit of ventilation to the look. And the crop top adds a little bit of an unexpected twist on an otherwise basic look.

The shoes, in my opinion are really what tie this look together! The silver pops so beautifully! They are another fun twist that give the look some extra character!
