Black and White and Red all Over!

Hello all! And happy Friday!

Today is such a fun look! It is giving errands but make it couture!

It all stemmed from my desire to restyle this cute red, bubble hemmed skirt! I got it over the holidays and had a specific look in mind. But I want to get the most wear out of my clothes, so I have been looking for other ways to style it.

It was really a look that kind of built itself!

I knew I wanted to pair the fuzzy, black and white shirt with the skirt. And from there the details began to flood my brain.

I allowed the skirt and beret to do the real heavy lifting of the look. While adding in specific, cheeky, details. like the black and white belt, polka dot tights, heart printed socks, and heels.

It is those small details that really pack a punch! They take it from just an outfit to a LOOK!

These are the type of accessories I really like to invest in because they can be mixed and matched with other looks. The belt was found at a thrift shop! The tights and socks were from Target a year or two ago. The beret was also Target about three years ago.

A Lesson in Layering!

Hello all!

My NC friends, are we thawing out alright!?! Listen, I am not a huge fan of snow. It is pretty and all, and to be fair it was kind of fun to play in. But I really hate the mess it creates here. I am ready for the snow to be on its' way out.

BUT it did give me a chance to layer this stylish look! I have been wanting to style this look for a while, but in summer it is a little too hot to layer too much. Fall probably would have been okay, but I forgot to be honest, that is until the other night. I revisited this look.

Previously, I had planned to style it with a white and brown striped shirt, but I swapped it out with this striped Loft tee, and I actually like how the colors work a lot better. I opted for the cozy, cute, and very warm cheetah print coat -which was thrifted!- over top.

It also gave me another chance to style these loafers! They were a loft find as well. Loft has had some crazy good deals over the holidays and I indulged! But these loafers are so sophisticated and stylish! Oddly enough, initially I had some trouble styling them, I'm not sure why. I felt like I none of the looks I created with them looked THAT good. But finally, some ideas began coming together and working out!

I am certain you will be seeing them again!

Also, can we take a moment to check out this cutie pie clutch!?

I got it for Christmas from my friend Jen! It was a thrifted find, but it looks like it has magazine covers as part of the artwork on the top of the bag! And Beyonce is one of the pictures! =D

I am hoping to find a short chain to maybe attach to it somehow so I can also carry it as a shoulder bag.

Thank you all for reading!

I hope you enjoyed and I will see you Wednesday! =D

Hello all!

Happy Friday to you all! I guess we are really going to do this snowstorm thing again. Sigh. Well, before we do, I am eager to share this look with you!

It was actually a look I shot back in December, but I have not shared it until now. I LOVE this skirt so much! I wore it for Christmas Eve, but I wanted to restyle for a more everyday kind of look.

I know, not exactly the easiest feat since it IS a dressier skirt, but I believe it can be done!

I personally love this color contrast. The blue and gold just go together so perfectly! The blazer kind of adds a vibe of more business formal feel. Of course, true to my style, I deviated a bit from business formal with the blue flower pin. I don't know that I can even wear a blazer anymore without a flower attached to it, to be honest.

Accessorizing was a little trickier with this look. Since the skirt and blazer are both statement pieces on their own. I did not want to overwhelm the look. So, I kept my accessorizing simple. I stuck to the blue and gold color theme, gold heels, and a blue bag. Even the jewelry was more minimal than usual.

I went with a few bracelets and a lone Gemini symbol necklace. I found it at Baublebar online for $10. So, guess what a lot of my friends got for Christmas!? =D

I thought it was cute!

Thank you all for reading and I hope you stay safe during this second round of snow!

Borrowed From Mom!

Hello friends and family!

I hope you guys are doing well and ready for this winter storm that we are supposed to get this weekend.

In preparation, I styled a bundled up look in which I borrowed a few key pieces from.....drum roll... my mom!

So, I am a big believer in sharing clothing! Well, let me rephrase that. I am a big believer in sharing clothing with certain people. For me, it is my mom, aunt, and sister. For this post, I borrowed two key pieces from my mom. The slouchy boots, and the frilly scarf. Both were absolutely perfect for this look! They added just the right touches.

The reason that I say I am a big believer in sharing things is because it is an easy and inexpensive way to refresh your own pieces.

Of course, you do have to be very careful when borrowing other people's things. And I personally would not swap with just anyone. Just my family and a few friends -our tribe as we call it! I trust those ladies!

Every so often you can actually find events where a group of ladies get together and swap clothes! Everyone brings gently used clothes they plan to get rid of anyway, and it becomes almost like a thrifting event.

The rest of this look is a romantic, cozy kind of vibe. An asymmetrical, drop hem dress, with a warm fuzzy, shearling coat.

The dress moves like a dream, and I swear these boots and scarf are absolutely the perfect additions to this look!

Thanks for reading, and please be careful this weekend! Stay safe and stay warm!

Happy Monday everyone!

I found the CUTEST bag, and I am excited to share it with you!

It was an Amazon find, and actually I have had my eye on it for a minute. I had put it on my Christmas list, but I did not really expect it, as it is a bit on the pricey side. So, I began saving, because I knew I wanted it!

I just knew it would be such fun to style!

And it is!

This was my first idea! I really wanted to restyle this graphic printed sweater, and I thought the color combo would look good together. Also, both are very fun pieces, so I took that into account when styling.

I kept the jeans pretty simple, though the cuffs do have some stud detail, so that it would not take away from the sweater and bag combo.

And it came out just perfect! -Well at least in my opinion! Lol.

I have more plans for this bag coming up. So please stay tuned! And for those of you interested, I will link it below!

Thanks for reading! =D

Warm, Cozy, and Waiting for CLT Weather to Make Up Its' Mind...

Hello and Happy Monday!

Charlotte, I love you, but please, PLEASE make up your mind when it comes to the weather! Do you want to be 70 in January? Or do you want to be 59? I honestly don't care, but I can't keep up! Lol!

Just yesterday I could get away with a T-shirt! But today I am bundled up, head to toe!

I have also been on a LOFT kick! They are having some seriously good sales right now! Between 40 and 60% off! So, I indulged! I got this puffer vest, which has been a dream! It's beautiful and soft, and despite not having sleeves, it keeps my core warm. And that keeps the rest of me warm!

The sweatshirt and pants are a set that I have had for several years now, I think three give or take. I am not 100 percent sure where they are from, my gut says Boohoo. But it has been a great set for traveling, running errands, relaxing at home, and cozying up on days like today!

It is a great set to dress up or down, but my favorite part of today's look is how it allows the puffer vest to really pop. The color contrast is dynamic and elevates the look!

To complete today's casual/chic look, I stacked two chain necklaces and added a super cute Chicago hat which was a Christmas gift from my sis, but also from Alice and Wonder -a shop in Chicago that I have yet to visit but still would like to! Apparently at the shop you can customize your hat. I do not remember the exact details, but I do remember that it was part of what drew me to the shop when I was researching things to do on my trip to Chicago.

Sadly, neither time I visited was I able to make it there. It was a little farther away from where I was staying and I did not stay for that long. But you know what that means?! Another trip is in order! =D

Thank you for reading! I hope you all have a great week ahead!

When a Christmas Gift Goes Wrong...

Hello all! Happy Monday!

So, I have a bit of a funny story behind this look. I actually got this jacket for my sister for Christmas. She's a big Charlotte FC fan and I thought she would enjoy it! On the site, it looked like the jacket had studs, which I was a tiny bit unsure of as my sister and I have very differing styles. Hers is much more laid back than mine. But I thought the studs would be alright. Admittedly I probably would have done better to just go with a sweatshirt, but none of them really stuck out to me.

But as it turned out, when I got the jacket, it was not studs but rhinestones. I was pretty sure my sister would not love that. She is definitely not a rhinestone girlie.

Another piece to this is that I actually got my shopping done early because I started earlier. Which on one hand was nice, but on the other hand it gives me more time to lose receipts -which I did with this jacket. So, then I was left with the option of either trying to sell it, or style it.

Ya'll can see which path I chose.

I still may sell it, but I did want to at least try it out! I do kind of like it, so I may keep it after all and see what else I can come up with. But I am about to embark on a big closet clean out too so... we shall see!

But this look did speak to me a bit! Black and white, with pops of varying shades of pink. Plus, my Kurt Gieger lookalike, they all made for a fun look. Half sporty, half maximalist, 100 percent me!

Side not, this jacket was a wildcard gift. Just something I saw and thought my sister might like, not something she'd actually asked for. But I did also get her two other gifts that were on her Christmas list. So, it was not a complete bust on my part! And her reaction when she opened it was priceless! Pure confusion and lots of laughter! xD

Thanks for reading! And have a great week ahead!

Annnnnnd We Are Back!

Hello and welcome back!

Happy New Year!

I wanted to start off the year with a strong look! And this was actually the first one I shot, so I ran with it! I'm on a mission this year. to restyle every piece in my closet, and if I can't, or if it doesn't fit, or is in bad shape, I'm getting rid of it. No holding back! It's going to be a harsh cut, but it is important to do this from time to time.

It is a great way to revitalize your closet, your clothes, even your mind.

Stick with me here!

When you go through your clothing, sometimes you pull out pieces maybe you have not worn in a while. Maybe this time you have a new idea for a way to style it?! Maybe seeing it with fresh eyes, gives you inspiration!

That is what happened when I pulled out this maxi skirt. I got it a year ago and love it! But sometimes I go to style it and feel stuck. I had actually come across another creator who had styled a plaid maxi skirt, with a denim shacket. I really liked the way she had styled it, so I decided to recreate the look.

I paired my oversized denim shacket with the maxi skirt. This creates an interesting contrast in both texture and length. If you don't have a shacket, a denim jacket would create the same effect, it would just vary in the length.

Then I added a scarf belt for a jarring pop of color, and to cinch the waist a bit.

I personally love the orange and retro print, against the darker hues and the plaid print. That is just my preference. But you could use a variety of different scarves and prints, or even, no scarf and just a regular belt instead!

Not overthinking it is key here. Just have fun and play around with different pairings. When something really feels right to you, you'll know!

Thanks for reading! I am looking forward to sharing more posts with you this year and give you more specific styling tips that I have learned over the years! So, stay tuned!

Have a great weekend!

Merry Christmas you guys! I hope you all had a wonderful time!

We had a nice time at my house! Belly laughs, good food, and the best naps! What more can ya ask for?

But just because Christmas is over does not mean my holiday looks are! Although this is probably my last really Christmas-y look. But I had to share! It is just too good!

I found out late last year that colorful tights -red especially- looks very festive underneath this white, lace skirt! So, I wanted to find a way to style it this year! It worked perfectly with this red and white, Christmasy sweater!

It is loaded with texture! Which I personally love! And you even get a bit of mixing prints between the design in the sweater and the flowers in the skirt.

And the coat ties it all together!

Side note, peppermint hot chocolate has been my favorite sweet treat during this holiday season! And this look kind of is a peppermint brought to life! Lol!

Thank you for reading and supporting the blog all of these years! It means so much to me!

I hope you have a great weekend! See you on Monday!

The Sequins Continue to Shimmer!

Merry Christmas week!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Today's holiday look is somewhat more casual but continues on with the theme of sequins! The look came out so perfectly though! I am obsessed with it!
Picture
Picture
The sequined joggers -kind of an odd concept but I love them anyway!- are thrifted from Goodwill but originally from LOFT. I really love the color combo of the deep marron and the white/blue of the sweater. That was the conception of this look. I wanted to bring those colors together.

Then I began to build from there. And it did take some time, some mixing and matching until I found the perfect pieces to style with this look. But I am so glad I persisted! This has to be one of my favorite looks of the holiday season! The oversized sweater and slouchy design of the joggers, provide a tiny bit more of a casual look. It also happens to be perfect for me this week as I am bloated and PMS-ing.

I think what I love most about it; is just how unexpected it is! When I think of holiday looks, I think of reds, greens, gold, etc. I don't necessarily think of pink! But this is still very festive and fun!

Thank you so much for reading! I will see you Wednesday! And I wish you all a Merry Christmas and happy holiday!
