Hello and Happy Friday!

First of all, I'm so pleased with how these pictures came out! Especially the main picture! It is one of those once in a life time perfect pics! It way it captures the back of the sweater and the details! I LOVE the fit of it. I have a similar one I got a few years go. This one is a bit more fitted than the other, but I still enjoy it. Also, I'm impressed with how I captured the chunky heels from Fabrik Boutique!

So, Fabrik had a sale a week or so ago that was like 50% shoes. And Idk... I know we aren't going anywhere at the moment, but I can't help myself with a good sale! So I got three pairs of shoes. I've shared one pair with you before, the snake skin sneakers. These chunky, snakeskin printed heels are the second pair! Man oh man, are they cute though! They fit perfectly!

I love the contrast between the heels and the sweater. It looks so beautiful! Unexpected, but the colors blend so perfectly together!

I purposely left the rest of the look a bit more plain, just to let these two pieces pop.

It was another way to support businesses, one was local and one was Shein of course! That is why I'm calling this 'Boutique Day!' I'll have a part two to this as well! In addition to that the tee is from Vestique Boutique, and has quickly become one of my favorite purchases. You guys have already seen it a few times on here, since it is such a laid back, effortless piece.

I hope you guys enjoy! And I hope you have a great weekend!

Thank you for reading!

XOXO

Spotlight Series! Grape Ink Design!

Need a logo for your company? Well I have a lady for you!

This week my spotlight series is focusing on my friend Chakarra Durr and her business Grape Ink Design! She and I work together, same place different departments and yet while we only see each other in passing, we have interacted on social media! She created a logo for me that I love so much! It was everything I wanted! Everything I had pictured, she brought to life!

She was born in Monroe, NC and raised in Indian trail. Her graphic design journey has been an interesting one. It began with her eye for art and then she began to play around with it. "I played around with paint on an old school dial up computer, and the rest was history!" she told me.

Picture
So how did Grape Ink Designs come about? Well the name came from Chakarra's love for the color purple. " I honestly could not come up with a name and I was playing Grand Theft Auto and saw the name 'ink design." "Too easy," she thought, "so I added Grape!"

Picture
What I was curious about is the amount of time and work goes into graphic design. I mean it can't be easy! It requires "brain power and visual/color history"  all of this she learned from one of her favorite teachers -Mrs. Haver. According to Chakarra who made her fall in love with art. Chakarra was was able to also give me a look into what it takes to be a graphic designer. "It depends on the project," she explained, "What the person wants  or needs, the revisions... it can take a few hours or a couple of days."
Picture
Honestly my favorite part of her story is that she did not give up. When she felt discouraged she took time away. She took time to breath and to contemplate and remind herself of what she enjoyed about the job. Honestly, who has not felt that way at some point? I can honestly vouch for her here. I've been there! I have felt just frustrated and taken advantage of and just that I felt like wanted to give up. I AM so glad I haven't or I wouldn't have met beautiful and courageous people like Chakarra! She knew God gave her a gift.

We all need a break sometimes, but we don't give up on our dreams. That is what warms my heat so much with Chakarra's story! She felt down but she is back better than ever! And you know? She has big plans in store!

She wants to open her own studio as well as design something for a billboard. I would be on the look out for this if I were you! Her talent is limitless!

Thanks for reading and I'll see you Friday!

Two-Way Styling Post with Cobalt Blue!

4/27/2020

Hey all and Happy Monday!

Just a quick post for today! But I'm sharing with you another two-way styling! Granted there is a WHOLE lot of difference between the posts. In fact all I really changed was my bag and shoes. The common factor? The use of cobalt blue!

It is one of my favorite colors. It has a dynamic, enriched energy to it. It was the first idea that came to me with this sweater. It is my pop of color for these looks!

The looks themselves are pretty simple. I love an over-sized sweater! They are wonderful! Just so effortless and chic! This one is from Apricot Lane Boutique. They recently had a grab bag special. That was a little too good to pass up. They were trying to 'de-stash' some of their fall/winter items to make room for spring and summer. So for $40 they would send you four pieces. Now I know some may see it as a risk, but I like a good challenge! And I think I got some great pieces!

This particular look was my first idea and I really enjoyed how the cobalt blue pieces pop perfectly against the pastels of the sweater. I also love how the small, subtle changes in pieces really change the look. It is a perfectly casual look either way. But the heels do give it more of a dressy feel.

Thank you for reading! Hope you all are doing well! Stay safe!

XOXO

Snake Skin Feelings...

Hey all! Happy Friday!

Have you ever had just an amazingly perfect day? That was my day yesterday. From start to finish. I worked, but everyone was in a good mood and we laughed a lot. One of my friends gave me this super cute bag to hold my essential items in! I got a wonderful walk in as well as a dance session -its corny and I'm not that coordinated but I enjoy it and its exercise! Then my mom made some face masks that have come out lovely! I think she did a wonderful job on them. I'm so thankful she is making them for us!

Then we had dinner! On payday I've been treating the family to dinner. It is something different, I feel like I'm contributing to the family, we are supporting local businesses, plus it something that cheers us up a bit.  Last night we ordered from Tazikis! I think it was my mom's idea and it was amazing! I very much enjoyed it and will definitely order there again. Now, I pose a question to those to read the blog. What are some other good restaurants to try out?

On to today's post. I know its weird to order items during a pandemic but ya know what? I enjoy it. Again it is supporting local businesses and also giving me new ideas for blogs. Not to mention there are some AWESOME deals going on. Which is how I became the owner of three new pairs of shoes! This being the first. These Fabrik snake skin printed sneakers are the best thing ever! Honestly, each pair of shoes they sent me was unbelievable! They had a crazy sale one day, it was 50% off and I believe free shipping. I was hooked...  I looked at their shoes and I was sold!!

So today, I wanted to share my first pair of shoes with you. These snake skin sneakers! And to keep in the snake skin family, I paired them with this romper. I love the way this look came out! Of course a pop of color too. But yes! Everything about this look I love!

I hope you check out the FabRik site and maybe find some stuff you like!

Also enjoy Tazikis as well! They are wonderful and offer curbside pickup!

Thanks for reading!

XOXO

Hello and Happy Monday!

Day 420....

Nope. Just over a month and a half.

Does it feel longer to you? I'm only sort of kidding. My situation is a little different from some of yours. I am still going into work, so my routine has not changed a whole lot. I'm hoping you guys are hanging in there and able to spend time with loved ones, or get so much needed rest, or work on projects you hadn't had time for before.  For me having a routine is a very good thing. I like that structure. However, the stress of all of this can get to me sometimes and when it does I have a few things that I do to reset. I love to go for a walk, or get outside and get fresh air. Right now, I'm blogging from my back porch. That is one thing that has changed for the better during this time. With gyms closed, I still want to get exercise in and now I almost have to go outside and walk or run for that to happen. But it really does brighten my spirits and make me feel uplifted.

Also I try to find five things I'm grateful for every day. I try to write them all down, but sometimes I do sometimes I don't. I look for the little wins. Honestly I think they are the most personal and meaningful. I feel like they are meant for me and they tend to come right when I need them most. Sometimes I will just take a nap. It sounds silly but that little bit of rest can make a world of difference. Music and dancing is a sure fire way to get my spirits up! I FaceTimed with a friend the other night which was wonderful! There are many different things to do to lift your spirits during this time. Its sometimes easier said than done. But I hope some of these things help you out when you feel discouraged or frustrated.

On to today's post! This is one of the most comfortable and effortless looks and I LOVE it! I know I say that a lot. But this one is really so chic! It is simply a graphic tee, shorts, and a blazer! I personally like the over-sized blazer but I feel that any blazer would work well also. You can pair any type shoe with it... from sneaker to  pumps, to booties, to flats, to these neon booties that I have paired with it today -because you guys know I love my pop of color!

You could wear this look anywhere! Really! Errands, concerts, date nights -well once this virus is behind us of course. But hey it will be and you will have an idea for an easy look to pull off when you're able to go out again! And I have a great look to and from the mail box in!  Plus it keeps me busy/sane! >D Win-win-win!

Thank you for reading and stay safe my friends!

XOXO

My Favorite Things... Lotions!

Hey all!

I told you I maybe sharing a special post on Wednesdays!

Today this is more important to me than ever. Granted I loved these products before, but now that you know what has hit, my hands have been chapped and dried out AF. So these have been ever so much more useful and meaningful!
Picture
No. It won't get you high. Though CBD oils are something I have been researching lately but that is for another time and post! It is made from 100% hemp seed oil. It has a subtly sweet smell to it, and it feels like heaven when I put it on my hands in particular.  Additionally it is a moisturizing lotion that feels good on your arms, legs, shoulders... wherever! On a bonus note, it is age defying as well! I mean, why not?!

My mom actually found it originally at a store called Beauty Brands. I believe it closed though, I could be wrong. I found it again though at Walgreens for $20! AND it was buy one, get one half off -so I got 2!

Picture
This little bad boy I have kept in my pocket at work -I am still working and washing my hands very regularly (hence the post!) This has been a bit of a life saver! It applies so smoothly and it feels cool when you put it on. It relieves dry skin, and moisturizes for 24 hours (which I guess becomes a moot point if you are washing your hands regularly, since you are regularly washing it off... )  BUT the point is it still is pocket/purse sized and you can apply it when you need! It's wonderful!
Picture
This lotion not only helps my chapped hands, but it also calms me nerves! The eucalyptus spearmint really helps me mentally. I don't know about you, but I need that more than ever! And this does help!  I like to apply this at night in particular, since I tend to have trouble sleeping. You may be able to find it online at Bed, Bath, and Body Works. If you can you definitely should! The spearmint scent is so wonderful!

There are plenty of other lotions that work wonders as well that I also use. Any will do! Whatever you preference. These are my faves in particular. But I am not super picky. I have accumulated many lotions over time and I like them as well. Part of it for me is when I go the bed, I love applying these lotions to my legs and shoulders and I swear I feel so amazing getting into bed. I feel refreshed, clean, and calm.

I hope you enjoy this post! Thanks for reading and I hope you find some lotions you enjoy!

Hey all!

Happy Friday! I know the date says... Wednesday!? Holy moly this has been a weird week! That is when I started this particular post.

Now I love the aesthetics of this look! The detailed sleeves, the paper-bag shorts, the layered pearl necklaces -YASS I love it all!

I got this top right before all this sh*t got crazy! Sorry Mom and Dad! But I loved it! And then I paired it with these paper bag shorts and loved it even more!

I have other plans for it as well. You will be seeing this top again soon!

The necklaces are another thing that really seal the deal on this post. It looks so vintage and I love it! You have the full pearl necklace and then you have the pearls with chain in between. I have used this in many posts! I love the varying of pearls it just makes a world of difference!

Okay, so I am planing on adding a blog on Wednesday. It may be a beauty piece, it maybe a work out piece, I may interview people... we will just wait and see! I have a lot of ideas! Stay with me! I love you guys! Have a good and safe weekend!

A Casual Touch...

Hello and Happy Monday!

Today is another two-way styling sesh but on a much more casual note. I figure that there is not a huge point of sharing really dressy looks with you at the moment, aside from the fact that I enjoy it! Also, one day we will be able to get back out and go places and hopefully you can look back and find some outfit inspiration then!

These two looks are looks that I enjoy wearing a lot, even pre-quarantine. First of all, I love my chucks! I know I jumped on that train a lot later than most, but better late than never right?! Thankfully they are kind of a timeless staple. They are easy to find and still worn regularly.

This first look is pretty basic; my LootSwaay sweatshirt over shorts and the chucks! It is very simple and easy to pull off. I would wear this out to run errands even before the quarantine. The sweatshirt was my first piece from LootSwaay, which is my friend -Robert Reasons Brown- brand. And I lived in it most of the winter. It is unbelievably soft!

For the second look, I tried a more dressy casual approach. No idea if that is really what its called, but it is what I am calling it. I swapped the shorts for boyfriend jeans and the chucks for heels. I have worn this look out a few times and loved it. It is comfortable and gives you that effortless-Rihanna feel. I was going for a similar look a few posts before when I paired the same jeans with a button down and heels. Sort of the same effect.

I would wear this out to dinner sometimes, particularly in the winter. The heels and the envelope clutch -one of my all time favorite bags- dress it up a bit and make it look more put together while maintaining that low-key feel.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you are doing well and these posts help inspire you during this bizarro time! I'm working on some ideas for different types of posts as well. Wish me luck! Stay safe!

XOXO

Spreading Cheer:: A Spring Time Dress...

Hey all!

Happy Friday!

I hope you are doing well and stay safe and healthy!

While it is a bit of trying time right now I choose to look for the good that is still out there or that can come out of it. One good thing about it for me is that it is challenging me to be more creative blogging wise. I'm trying out different spots for shooting -they are all around my house, you may already know that! I had been kind of experimenting with it before this but now it has become more insistent. Plus I have more time, so I can experiment more. I am really enjoying how they are coming out as a result!

You may see some repeat outfits, like this one. But I will try my best to recreate them and style them differently.

This dress makes me feel so good! The print and colors are so cheerful and uplifting. The ruffled hem and the lantern sleeves bring so much character and life. I really love how the golden colors of the bags -I switched bags while shooting this post- compliment the colors of the dress.

The sneakers give it a more relaxed feel, which I love.

So, I'm not going to stop blogging! I will still be seeing you guys here! I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for reading! And stay safe!

XOXO

Hello and Happy Monday!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be sporting a face mask on the blog, BUT here we are.... lol. And I am most grateful to my friend Humble Connor. I got this bad boy from her!

Yes! She makes them in many different shapes and styles! And guys, she is so generous!

For each one you buy, she will match your purchase and send it to an NC hospital.

For me, that was enough. I support my friend and help out those on the front line, AND keep myself and others safe -SOLD!

But her kindness didn't stop there. Okay, so I work at a retirement home. Humble and I spoke about that for a while on Saturday. Today I woke up with message that I "had mail" then followed shortly by her wanting to donate masks for all of my coworkers.

I teared up when I saw that message!

Looking out for each other is what we are supposed to be doing through out this. Humble has been more than kind!

This is a weird time, but lets be there for each other!

Humble, Thank you! Thank you so much! You are such a beautiful and kind  person!
