Need a logo for your company? Well I have a lady for you!

This week my spotlight series is focusing on my friend Chakarra Durr and her business Grape Ink Design! She and I work together, same place different departments and yet while we only see each other in passing, we have interacted on social media! She created a logo for me that I love so much! It was everything I wanted! Everything I had pictured, she brought to life!

She was born in Monroe, NC and raised in Indian trail. Her graphic design journey has been an interesting one. It began with her eye for art and then she began to play around with it. "I played around with paint on an old school dial up computer, and the rest was history!" she told me.

So how did Grape Ink Designs come about? Well the name came from Chakarra's love for the color purple. " I honestly could not come up with a name and I was playing Grand Theft Auto and saw the name 'ink design." "Too easy," she thought, "so I added Grape!"

What I was curious about is the amount of time and work goes into graphic design. I mean it can't be easy! It requires "brain power and visual/color history"  all of this she learned from one of her favorite teachers -Mrs. Haver. According to Chakarra who made her fall in love with art. Chakarra was was able to also give me a look into what it takes to be a graphic designer. "It depends on the project," she explained, "What the person wants  or needs, the revisions... it can take a few hours or a couple of days."

Honestly my favorite part of her story is that she did not give up. When she felt discouraged she took time away. She took time to breath and to contemplate and remind herself of what she enjoyed about the job. Honestly, who has not felt that way at some point? I can honestly vouch for her here. I've been there! I have felt just frustrated and taken advantage of and just that I felt like wanted to give up. I AM so glad I haven't or I wouldn't have met beautiful and courageous people like Chakarra! She knew God gave her a gift.

We all need a break sometimes, but we don't give up on our dreams. That is what warms my heat so much with Chakarra's story! She felt down but she is back better than ever! And you know? She has big plans in store!

She wants to open her own studio as well as design something for a billboard. I would be on the look out for this if I were you! Her talent is limitless!

XOXO
