Tygerian Lace:: Detailed Wrap, Faux Leather....

Hello all!

Fair warning, this maybe a long post!

This has been a great week for me! I'm especially excited to share this post with you! Today I want to focus on the beautiful, detailed, wrap from Tygerian Lace. (More on this in a moment!)

I was able to meet with the founding designer of Tygerian Lace, Ty, herself, earlier this week! She was incredibly inspiring to me and very sweet as well! I felt like I was talking to a friend! But we talked about collaboration ideas, Charlotte's Style week (which begins the week of my birthday!), and she even encouraged me to begin work on a t-shirt design (something I have been thinking of for sometime.)

I had actually met her once before at a fashion event in Charlotte, specifically geared towards networking. I remember being so intrigued with her look; it was professional, yet sexy/stylish. I stayed up late that night googling pieces and researching the brand excitedly. It is an extremely stylish brand, with stunning/bold pieces. The stunning/bold dynamic comes from the use of colors (black and white specifically) and color-blocking.

This particular piece, is a little different. But it is amazing. From the deep, rich colors, to the sturdy fabric, and the unique design! When I first tried it on I expected there to be a hook or ties to keep it together, but there are neither. It is designed to simply drape over your shoulders beautifully and intentionally.

I do feel incredible in it! Elegant, sophisticated, bold -which is exactly what Tygerian Lace claims. I am so excited for this collaboration and I hope there are many more in the future! =)

Thanks for reading! Thank you, Tygerian Lace for partnering for this post, and (another) huge thanks to my friend Erik (thatfatninja on Instagram) for helping me with these stunning pictures (I also hope for future collaborations!) =)

XOXO

My Favorite Prints to Mix:: Leo and Plaid....

Hello and Happy Hump Day!

I apologize for the delay, I have been fighting a sight cold/allergies and it had me in a funk on Monday. But I'm was determined to continue on my mixing prints theme. This is a one of my favorite combinations of prints to mix. Plaid and leopard print!

This GAP button up is so soft and comfy, it has a great laid back vibe. The leopard print heels have a unique feel of chic-yet-laid-back. The thicker heel of the shoe makes them very easy to walk in. And comfortable for running around town -which is what I did most of yesterday.

I have been feeling very inspired lately. My May Style Challenge is coming to a close (next week!) and feel like it has been very successful! Summer is right around the corner and I have some exciting things coming up in June -including my birthday!! My sister and I will be moving this summer, and just in general I feel like I have a lot of great people around me and working with me as far as this blog goes.

It is really inspiring and motivational to be around all of this creative energy! I just hope it sticks around! =)

Thanks for reading!!

XOXO

Rainy Day Post:: Mixing Stripes and Leo Print...

Hello all!

I'm back to my regular posting location. Lol. I don't love it but I am determined to stick to my posting schedule (although I realize this week is off). But that sometimes means not being able to shoot with Jennifer or Anjeika, which limits me in where I can shoot.

Also today, the rain limited me. I didn't want to risk getting my camera wet or dropping it in a puddle, so I played it safe today -photo wise.

This is my second post that focuses on mixing prints. I had fun with stripes once again, this time opting for a more casual look by pairing it with leopard print. This Forever21 body-con dress (restyled back in February) has quickly become a staple piece in my closet. It is easy to style and it's design/structure is much sturdier than most body-con dresses. The reason this look works is because of the overall neutral tone of the rest of the pieces. The neutral palette allows the leopard print to pop without becoming too fussy or too busy.

This is a look I would recommend for someone who was attempting to step out  of their comfort zone but unsure of how sure to do it. It is easy and open for interpretation. Instead of a leopard print scarf, you could pair it with leopard print heels. Or a different printed scarf. Or a printed bag...  the possibilities are numerous!

Thanks for reading! =)

Fountain Head:: Mixing Stripes and Tweed...

Hello all!

I apologize I'm a little late with this post but yesterday filled up very quickly. We actually shot yesterday afternoon and I spent the rest of the night going through the pictures, editing, and writing this post. This post is special to me for a few reasons.

First of all it was a dual shoot. My friend/fellow blogger, Anjelika and I set out yesterday afternoon. We each got pictures (I'll be sharing more pics in a later post) and she recorded the whole shoot for an upcoming video post, which I can give you the details on later. The other reason it is a special post for me is because of the location. We shot at the Promenade, a place I have been wanting to shoot for a long time now. And it was even better than I imagined. This fountain and the pillars are both incredible visuals!

For the theme this week, I am going to try something different. Instead of using one piece three different ways I thought maybe I could demonstrate how to mix prints three different ways. It was keep things a little more interesting for me, and hopefully you too! This is the first look; pairing different stripes. I have had this look in mind for a long time. The smaller, more unevenly spaced stripes of the crop top off sets the bold, even stripes of the Forever21 pencil skirt. The tweed jacket ties the two pieces together (while incorporating another, softer pattern.) And my trusty coral, Versona clutch adds a refreshing pop of color.

I hope you enjoy this! Thanks for reading! =)

Fashion Replay:: Dramatic High-Low Hem...

Happy Friday!!

Sorry I missed a post this week, but it has been a busy week! I promise!

Also I want to share some pictures from an event I went to last weekend. It was a fashion meeting and this is half of the outfit I wore to it. I opted for a textured skirt instead of white jeans. But I still love the way the dramatic high-low hem shirt looks in contrast to the white jeans. The nude, strappy, Versona heels are subtle but effective.

I mentioned in my last post I had a lot I wanted to share. The fashion meet up was one of them! It was a meeting for all fashion bloggers, designers, models, people with interests in fashion etc. We got to eat, drink, and enjoy good conversations (also network!) I met several interesting people and really enjoyed myself. My friend Anjelika came with me. The story behind our friendship is remarkable and a sign if ever I have seen one.

We both work full time jobs, she works a drug store I work at a retirement home right down the street. And I stopped into her store a lot. We began talking and realized we both have a love for fashion (she actually is going to school for fashion marketing -I believe.) Ironically she wants to blog -which I am already doing regularly- but she is on YouTube -which is something I want to get into. So its' actually a great combination!

I know fashion blogging sounds so trivial and materialistic in a way but its much more than that -to me at least. Its about stepping outside of my comfort zone, growing and learning about myself, about meeting new people/friends, and letting my creative side go crazy! =)

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy these pictures!

Happy Monday! =)

I had a great weekend! I had a meeting/night out with a friend of mine (Anjelika.) There is a whole story about it but I may share that in my next post because this post is already getting long (I have a lot of ideas in my mind right now! Ha).

On to the post! This week I'm going to find three ways to wear white jeans. Which for me is a challenge, white jeans are kind of a fear of mine. Well... maybe its more of a love/hate relationship. LOVE for so many reasons; white jeans add an instant/classy element to any outfit. For this particular look, I was feeling oddly uninspired then my eyes landed on this cutout/crochet top from Tash Boutique. I love the white on white and then the coral-orange, Versona bag with the orange cardigan -gorgeous!

Its simple yet elegant! And at the mentioning of my good friend/former co-worker Laila (who I hope to shoot with in the near future) I tried a few different locations. Still in my complex (hey I have to work with I have at the moment lol!) But changing things up never hurts! I like how the pictures came out. Thanks for all of the advice and help, I really do appreciate it! And I will definitely take all of it to heart and try to apply it when and where I can! =) I love you for that!

Thanks for reading and see you on Wednesday!

XOXO

Nerdy Chic:: Linen Tee Part 2...

 fHello!

Just a quick update! So far the May style challenge is going smoothly! I really like this combination for a few reasons; the color combo first off is gorgeous! The light blue against the bold, bright red? Stunning! The textured skirt? Perfect for date night or a girls night out!

I adore the texture skirt from FOREVER 21 so much! Yes, its short -but it can be appropriate in the right place! In fact I plan on wearing this out to an event this weekend! ;)

There is also a lot of possibility with this look. Change the blazer for a navy blue or white blazer, maybe even a denim jacket? Switch the mini skirt for a longer skirt or jeans -for a more appropriate work outfit.

I love this particular look because it has so much character -so much of me. I love the way it looks, the colors incorporated, the texture, the leg lengthening effect of the nude heels! I love the way it looks on me. I feel hot in it. I feel powerful in it. Ladies, isn't that what we want in an outfit?

Now I realize not all women can go out and copy this outfit. I realize that not all women want to copy this outfit. That's okay. The whole purpose of this style challenge and my blog in general is to inspire others to dress in a way that makes them feel beautiful. I love to give out tips, ideas, and advice but at the end of the day my style is my style. It won't suit everyone, nor will everyone love my style. But I just encourage you to experiment, maybe step outside of your comfort zone? Find a look that makes you feel amazing and run with it! =)

Honestly it is how I began and it is constantly evolving!

Anyway! Happy Wednesday! I hope you enjoy and thank you for reading!! =)

XOXO

A Day in May:: Linen V-Neck Tee, Pop of Orange...

Hello and happy Sunday to you!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend! =) I know I don't usually post on Sundays, but obviously today is May 1st and I am eager to kick off my 2nd May style challenge!

If you don't know, last year I challenged myself to not buy any new pieces for the entire month of May. I just restyled the pieces I already own. It was partially a way to challenge myself creatively and partially because my birthday is in June and I have enjoyed saving up money all through May to treat myself to a birthday shopping spree.

I am attempting the style challenge again this year, except with a little spin on it. I talk about my rule of three a lot on here. If you can find three ways to style something, it is worth keeping. So this year, my challenge is that I am going to restyle a certain piece three different ways. The relaxed, GAP tee is this week's piece to be restyled. I hope you like it because, it will be styled two more times before the week is over! ;)

I figured I would start the challenge off with something more simple. Something easy to style and -in my opinion- a staple for every woman. Its loose, comfy, soft, easy to dress up or down. I paired it with white heels and a pop of orange. Perfect for a casual Sunday afternoon, for brunch, or for a family dinner later. Swap the heels out for sandals or stylish flats and you are good to go run errands or a coffee date! =)

Hope you enjoy this! And I hope you enjoy the rest of this beautiful weekend!

Special shout out to Cassie at Versona! Always fun to see you my friend! =)

Thanks for reading!

XOXO
