Last Post of the Year: Cargo Chic...

Hey all and Happy Monday!

Welcome to the last post of the year! It is a bit on the casual side, but I'm not feeling 100% today for some reason. Fingers crossed that I'm not getting sick! :C  Anyway, this is still a great look that I'm happy to share with you.

Still playing with the monochromatic color theme, although this look is a more relaxed version of this theme compared to the last post. I paired two of my favorite pieces together for this look. The slouchy sweater from Grace Boutique has been a staple in my closet for at least two years now. It is warm, comfortable, and it just drapes -that's the best word I can think of- differently every time I wear it. The Target cargo pants have quickly embraced their place in my closet, easily one of my favorite purchases of the year!

My inspiration for this look was actually from the always chic Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. I have always been fascinated with their styling. They were the queens of layering (AND LAYERING) and over-sized pieces -they have very petite frames! But something about their styles always appealed to me. It seemed effortless and comfortable. I think it was Ashley who was wearing the outfit I based this look on. It was baggy, wide-legged jeans and a over-sized sweater. If I wanted to be true to the recreation I would have worn sandals or sneakers, which is what she opted for. But I chose heels for my look.

Fun fact, their birthday is the day before mine!

I hope you like this look and thank you so much for reading and being a part of my blogging journey! I am enjoying sharing this with you so much! I hope you have a safe and happy new year and I will see you in 2020! =D

XOXO

Burnt Orange for The Last Friday of the Decade!

Hello and Happy Friday!

It is our last Friday of the year/decade! How crazy is that?! Sadly, I did come to that realization on my own. I saw a headline about it on social media somewhere. But it made me stop and think. I tend to get very nostalgic about this time every year, so stuff like that really grabs my attention.

On to today's look!

Today I'm following a styling theme I have grown to really appreciate; monochromatic! I have found I really like styling a full outfit using on main color. Today, the color I chose was this beautiful burnt orange color! For some reason, that I can't explain fully, I associate this color with evenings or sunsets. It is such a stunning color.

The bag I found at Target, and can be worn as a shoulder bag or cross body or you can tuck the strap in and carry it as a clutch.

I liked the way the jacket kind of broke up the burnt orange color just a bit, plus of course it was warm!

A Daring Pairing: Stripes and Leopard Print!

Hello and Happy Friday!

Christmas is only days away now! Who else is excited?! Who else still has shopping to do? I know this time of year can be a bit stressful, but I -well as of the last two or three years- have really tried to enjoy the hustle, the decorations -the lights especially. I have been trying to just absorb and enjoy it all.

On to this post, which I feel like may either leave you loving it or leave you scratching your head. Bear with me! This coat my Aunt gave me has inspired me in so many ways. You saw it two posts ago, and it is back again! This pairing popped in my head one day and I don't know why exactly but it spoke to me. I decided to try it. Personally I LOVE it! I cannot explain why exactly. Part of it, I think, is I like the length difference. The shorter coat with a maxi dress. I didn't know I would like it, until I paired it together.

Another element to this look is that the while the prints clash, the actual colors of the dress and coat go together very well. I believe that the key to mixing prints is more about color than prints. I'm actually just realizing that, even as I type this out. The prints are what bring the look to life.

As much as I enjoy this pairing, part of me was hesitant to share it. 'Will other people get it?' 'Is it TOO out there?' 'Am I thinking it looks better than it actually does?' Yes, I go through these thought processes a lot actually.. And usually when I think these things about a look, they end up getting the best responses. But while I was questioning myself, I texted a picture of the look to my good friend, Terry. You know from his blog, Style of Terry! Soon to be Secure in Style -and how appropriate! I wanted a second opinion before I posted and explained to him my thoughts. He said, 'if YOU love it, that's all that matters!"

That's the support I needed. Coincidentally, Terry said he loved it too! So here I am posting this! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Have a great weekend! See you Monday!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Sorry I missed you guys on Friday It was raining so much, I couldn't get any good shots. This is why I need to plan ahead. I do try, and sometimes I get it right and other times I do not. Friday was one of those days. And the 13th no less! Where is a face palm emoji when you need one?!

Anyway, I'm back today with a warm and comfortable winter look for you. And I need to thank my Mom for helping me out with this post! This plaid poncho is hers! I've really loved it from the first time she wore it! I actually have another idea in mind for it in the future, so you will probably be seeing it again soon!

It kind of reminds me of back in the day when you used to see Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen rocking the boho chic look. They would be wearing all of these over sized sweaters, jackets, ponchos, you name it! And yet they looked so chic! That was not what I was thinking when I styled this look, but looking at the pictures now that is what it reminds me of.

I tried to keep this look relatively simple. I kept the colors mostly the same, minimal use of pattern play, and then deep maroon in the flats and the bag. It is effortless, it is very comfy, and warm!

Thanks for reading!

A Double Dose of Leopard and Bright Red!

Hello and Happy Monday!

So today, I'm sharing a really fun outfit with you that is perfect for the holiday season!

Okay, if you have followed my blog for any length of time, you know my love for prints! Leopard print in particular! Well this coat has my heart! It is SO soft, very warm, and overall it is just lovely! Paired with the bright red scarf -it is a killer combination!

Actually half of this look was gifted to me. I think I mentioned that my Aunt and cousin came for Thanksgiving and my Aunt is one of the most generous people I know, she gave me the coat. She thought I would like it and I could find fun ways to style it, and my mind automatically thought of this pairing -minus the scarf. But the coat against an all black outfit would look stunning!

And it did! But it did need a little something extra to really make it pop. I tried it at first with a necklace, which was okay. But then this scarf caught my eye. And actually, this scarf is something my parents had picked out for me for Christmas maybe two years ago?

Good job Mom and Dad!

This is such a beautiful scarf on its own! But paired with this coat it really stands out! The whole look becomes so classy and full of life!

This is a look that would be perfect for Christmas or even New Years parties. Shoot, I may even wear it -or a version of this- to Christmas services!

Thank you for reading and a special thank you to my Aunt and parents for these beautiful pieces!

XOXO

A Cargo Pants Winter Look....

Hello all and Happy Friday!

So today I'm sharing a fun winter look with you. It is the third time I have styled these Target cargo pants and I tell you what, they just never seem to fail me! They have formed a real place in my heart -and closet! This is actually the third time I have restyled them, so they're a keeper!

For today's look, I really just experimented. Personally I really love the results I love the bright orange against the khaki color and the beige. Even without the coat, it is a nice color contrast.

My only wish is that instead of my leopard heels I wish I had a pair of bright baby blue heels! Don't get me wrong, I love my leopard print heels, but baby blue would be such an additional fun pop of color!

I'm on the look out for a pair! If you know of where I could find some, let me know! ;)

Thanks for reading!

XOXO

Outfit Evolution Continued...

Hello and Happy Monday!

I took a little break over the holiday because my Aunt and cousin were in town. It was so great having them here! I hadn't seen my cousin in several years, and when he walked in I was thinking 'who is this!?' But we had a great time! He came with me to the gym -and unintentionally let me know I need to step my game up lol! We also went and saw the movie Knives Out -which I would highly recommend! Its a murder mystery that will make you laugh mostly but also keep you guessing!

Okay onto the post! This outfit is the continuation of my outfit evolution. I mentioned in the previous post that I played around with the scarf with the sweater-over-dress combo. But once the sweater came off, just for fun, I continued playing with the scarf. The thing is I really like how the colors mesh together. The colors in the dress are neutral enough to not compete with the scarf, but allow it to pop.

I played with it over the shoulders, then ended up just tying it in the center. I think it acts as its own focal point.

Everything else I kept as neutral as possible.

It may surprise you to hear this, but this outfit is pretty warm! The material the scarf is made of is very thick. So you will be happy to know, I'm sure, that I did not freeze in the taking of these pictures! XD

Anyway, it is another fun way to play with scarves! And this concludes my outfit evolution..... FOR NOW! ;)

Thank you for reading and have a wonderful week!
