Fashion Inspo: Blake Lively!

Hello all! And welcome back!

I could not let another 'Fashion Inspo' post go by without discussing the fashion queen herself, Blake Lively!

That's right! The 'Gossip Girl' star is this my fashion inspiration this week and rightfully so! Blake Lively has to be one of my all-time favorite people to watch when it comes to fashion. I honestly have racked my brain -and the internet for this post- to see if I could find any look that she did not completely slay.

I got nothing!

From her red carpet glam to her day-to-day casual wear, Blake really owns every look!

It does not hurt that she unbelievably beautiful and can pull off a variety of different looks with ease. But I did notice, while researching for this post that she is the queen of accessorizing!

From hats, to scarves, to layered necklaces, to purses, and some killer heels (a lot of the time), Blake definitely understands the power of accessories for an outfit.

The outfit above, for example, is a pretty basic look, just a t-shirt and leggings, Blake threw a tasseled scarf and voila! It elevates that basic look by adding character and texture.

Similarly, with the outfit to the left, the layered necklaces, studded bag, and even the boots work together to bring a bit of additional texture and charm.

I also noticed that Blake seems LOVE color! I'd argue that most of the looks I found were full of color! I think that in particular is what I can really relate to. I tend to gravitate towards color! I love accessories as well, but color is probably what I really lean into style wise.

And it seems as though Blake does too!

I found numerous pictures from the red carpet where she was decked out in a bright red or yellow dress. Or like in this picture here, she has a bright pop of color in her look.

The final picture of this post is Blake in a bright blue dress with a shearling, blue coat on over top. As if that was not enough color, there is dashes of red in her heels that really pop!

And I love it! =D

Thank you, guys, so much for reading! And come on back for a whole new look on Friday!

Have a great day! =)

Location, Location: Coffee in a Cute Space...

Hey everyone! Happy Monday!

After a long weekend, I am about to enjoy two full days off!

Of course, that actually means getting a lot of looks shot for the next few weeks, but it is fun work! =) I'm really hoping for nice weather, because I have a lot of ideas! =D
Picture
Picture
Today's look is another pretty simple, time efficient, and warm/cozy look! A black against black pairing is classic and timeless. You can never go wrong! Throw in this pop of color and you're all set!

It was the location that I was really excited about for this post. It is downtown Matthews, which I have always thought was so charming. But then a few weeks ago, I met one of my friends for coffee and to catch up and we ended up at this coffee shop in downtown Matthews. (The Royal Cafe & Creperie if anyone is interested! Very good!) I really took notice of all the cute shops and buildings and became so inspired to shoot there!

Which is how today's post came about! I went on another Sunday afternoon, when it was not too crowded, and I could not have asked for a more beautiful day. Though it was chilly, the day itself was gorgeous! The lighting was perfect when I shot, and walking around the area and trying out different spots was so fulfilling!
Picture
I am certainly going to keep this location in mind for future shoots! In fact, I have a Sunday afternoon off coming up! You guys may see me out shooting in this area again soon! ;)

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you guys have a great week ahead!

Sunny Day Greys: Chunky Knit Sweater, Maxi Dress...

Hello and Happy Friday!

How are you guys? I feel like this week has flown by!

I just want to share a quick post with you today. A warm one too!

This look is a pretty simple, very stylish, and very cozy look to wear! There are many reasons I love this look. It can be worn to just about any place, whatever the occasion. It is forgiving during those times when you feel a bit more bloated or self-conscious. And best of all, it is a way to wear your summertime maxi dress all year round!
Picture
Picture
That's right!

This may look like a sweater/skirt combo, but it is not. I actually styled the sweater over a sleeveless maxi dress. I have styled similar looks before, but it is a trick that I always enjoy. I really like to get the most out of all the pieces that I have.

Since the colors are all pretty similar, I decided to try pairing the two pieces together. Throw on a belt to define your waist and voilà! You have a solid, stylish look!

Thank you, guys, so much for reading!

I hope you all have a safe weekend and I will be back with you on Monday! =)

Fashion Inspo: DoJa Cat!

Hello all! And welcome to today's fashion inspo post!

Although I am not an overly huge fan, I could not let a fashion inspiration post go by without talking about Doja Cat's insanely intricate and immersive look for the Schiaparelli fashion show in Paris!

The dress itself was custom-designed by Daniel Roseberry, who is the creative director for Schiaparelli, and it was following in line with the label's latest collection inspiration, Dante's Inferno.
Picture

But what is absolutely breathtaking, as well as mind boggling, is that in addition to her custom made gown, Doja Cat is adorned in hand-placed crystals.

Swarovski crystals to be exact. And 30,000 of them!

Yes, makeup artist, Pat McGrath and his team were tasked with painting Doja's skin and then gluing on 30,000 crystals. Reportedly, the job took almost five hours to complete. And they earned every bit of their pay that day, because this will undoubtedly go down as one of her most iconic looks ever!

The gown itself is also loaded with texture, including: the silk bustier, and the skirt made of lacquered, wooden beads.

Picture

I think that is one thing I really enjoy about Doja Cat and her style. She REALLY commits to looks. And many of her looks have a very artistic element about them.

While this is probably her most bold look to date, it is far from her only artistic and immersive look!

This one to the right is a very stylish, retro look that she pulls off very well! She had her skin painted for this look as well, and in my opinion, it makes the outfit look even better!

There is definitely an air of confidence and fearlessness about Doja Cat that really aides in her pulling off all of these looks!

Picture

Originally this post was solely going to be focused on her look for the Schiaparelli show, because in all honesty I was mesmerized by it! I just wanted to know all of the details behind how it was put together and how they managed to pull it off. I must have watched at least six time-lapsed videos of the process.

But in researching this look, I ended up coming across more of her looks that I also really appreciate! She is certainly going to be someone I watch from now!

What do you guys think of her look? And who are some of your fashion inspirations?

I would love to hear them!

Thanks for reading! See you guys on Friday! =)

Pops of Color: Orange Dress and Graphic Tee...

Hello and welcome back!

I feel as though it has been really rainy lately. Don't get me wrong, we need the rain and all, but man are nice, sunny days few and far between it seems!

This is actually pretty typical for January I feel like. But when the weather has my spirits down, I like to throw some color into my outfits to brighten things up.
Picture
Picture

I ended up getting two pops of color in this look!

This orange dress is from Target, as is... well actually the rest of the outfit! I did not notice it until now, but the rest of the look is all from Target too!

The main theme of this look is comfort! Comfort while still remaining stylish!

It is just an oversized graphic tee styled over top of a sleeveless, orange, bodycon dress.

Picture

I opted for Chuck Taylors since it was a rainy day and, in all honesty, heels just seemed a little too much. xD

But you could always spruce the look up with some heels or boots! I will definitely be doing that at some point in the future!

This will also actually be a great spring/summer look!

Thank you, guys so much for reading!

I hope you have a wonderful day and week!

Sporty Simplicity: Joggers and Cropped Jacket...

Hello friends and family!

Happy Friday!

Today's look is a lesson in the beauty of simplicity. I don't know about you, but I can be the world's worst about overcomplicating or overthinking things. This is true when it comes to styling too. I can spend so much time fussing over what goes well together, which accessories will complement the look, and what could be too much. Sometimes I need to take a step back from a project or styling session and breathe.

Not everything has to be glamourous. Not every look requires heels, flowy fabrics, layers, or accessories.

There is a lot to be said for simplicity when it comes to styling.
Picture
Picture
That brings us to today's look!

This was a look that I had been wanting to try for a while, but I had sidelined it for a while out of fear you guys might get tired of my beloved quilted joggers! Crazy right?! xD

Since the day I shot these pictures was a bit overcast and chilly, I decided it was a good day to try this look out. As you can tell it is just the white joggers paired with a white tee, and a cropped, printed, denim jacket, and Nikes.

I personally love the monochromatic look of the white on white., and how the jacket breaks up the monochromatic theme just a bit. I also added a textured bag for a little additional dimension. Otherwise, I purposefully opted not to add any other layers or accessories.
Picture
You can always add accessories to the look if you prefer and it would work well also, I just really enjoyed the simplicity for this post. I think this is an effortless look that you could easily throw on when in a time crunch and still look very well put together!

It is a great look for running errands, lunch dates, walks in the park (which is what I was up to!)

What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Fashion Inspo: Mindy Kaling!

Hello! And welcome back!

For today's fashion inspiration we are talking about the hilarious and extremely talented Mindy Kaling!

I have a bit of a girl crush on Mindy! My admiration of her runs deep!

She was such a joy on The Office (and one of my favorite characters!) And she has gone on to create her own production company and produce several shows, all of which are hilarious! I cannot wait for the final season of Never Have I Ever! And I binged the whole first season of Sex Lives of College girls when I had covid back in November. And she has written several books -which are on my wish list!

Hell, the woman had a second child without anyone ever knowing she was pregnant!

Mindy Kaling is unstoppable it seems!

And she has a knack for fashion as well!
Picture

As a fan and Instagram follower, I have gotten used to seeing Mindy take pictures in outfits in what I am assuming is her closet on Instagram. Her closet is a thing of dreams! I never get tired of those pictures! And yes, I do covet her closet a bit!

I've watched her styles change for a while because she has such a fun sense of style! From bright, bold colors, to mixing bold prints, to endless amounts of heels, Mindy really goes for it!

The thing with Mindy's style is that she can easily go from a glamorous movie star to sultry smoke show, to girl next door, to the business bitch (yes, I had to get that in here somewhere!!).

I will see you guys back here on Friday! Enjoy the rest of your week! =)

My Strange Addiction: The Office Sweatshirt and Peacoat...

Hello! Happy Monday everyone!

I had a pretty nice weekend! Saturday was a bit tiresome, but Sunday was beautiful! I go to sleep in, spend some time with the family, and shoot two looks all before I had to work later that afternoon. It was so gorgeous out too!

It did get a bit cold though!

True to NC typical weather in January, it had been a pretty nice week in the upper 60's and then Thursday ushered in a cold front. Which is why I am bundled up for today's post!
Picture
Picture
This is one of my favorite casual stylings out there!

I love pairing a peacoat with a sweatshirt! I find that it elevates the sweatshirt, while making the peacoat a little less formal. I wore this look out to celebrate my Pop's birthday towards the end of December.

The coat is not new, you've probably seen it many a time on here! The sweatshirt is new! It was a Christmas gift from my aunt -I swear I did not plan two posts in a row about my aunt although I do love her! And she does have a good eye for fashion/style as well! I'm a HUGE fan of The Office, which is why Dwight Shrute is appearing front and center on my sweatshirt! :D

Add some minimally distressed jeans and loafers, and -for me because it was a windy day- a hat, and you're good to go! You could spend the day running errands, catching a movie, or a casual dinner! You'll be nice, warm, and stylish!
Picture
I particularly enjoy the theme of beige in this pairing. From the hat (granted it does have a tiny bit of an orange tint to it), to the color-blocking in the coat, to the sweatshirt, and even the loafers. The color runs throughout the look and anchors it. (There is also the tiny bit of blue that stands out as well!)

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a great start to the week! =)

Blue Hues: Cozy Shacket and Mini Bag...

Hello and Happy Friday!

Today I'm sharing with you a very cozy look courtesy of my Aunt Sherry!

She had come over for New Year's Eve and brought this cozy shacket for me to style! Little does she know it just became a staple in my closet! ;)
Picture
Picture

Right away I loved the colors used in the Shacket and this pairing came to mind. Admittedly, it is pretty basic as far as styling a shacket.

That said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a basic look that is also a solid look! Bonus points if it is comfortable!

I wore this one day just running a few errands.

I love how well the blue bag works with the darker hues of the shacket. The electric blue is a nice little pop of color!

This mini bag is actually not the smallest bag I have! But was the first mini bag I purchased. I just felt really drawn to it and decided to at least get it to try out.

Turns out I love it! And it has proven to be a good bag!

PS for those of you interested, I do have some other ideas for styling this shacket, so you have not seen the last of it! ;)

Thanks for reading! I wish you all a great weekend ahead! See you Monday! =)

Fashion Inspo: The Golden Globes!

Hello and welcome to what I hope will be a fun post, reviewing some of the looks from the Golden Globes!

I always enjoy watching the Golden Globes, The Oscars, Emmys... you name it! I love seeing everyone all glammed up! The fashion is my favorite part typically. I like the performances as well usually! But I do love seeing what everyone wears. I have noticed that the men's styles have been changing up a bit over the years, that has been very fun to watch!

For today's post, I am giving my personal opinion on how some different looks from the night. Let me know what you think, if you agree/disagree and why!

Picture

Jamie Lee Curtis in Safiyaa

LOVE this! Is it just me or does Jamie Lee Curtis seem to get even better with age? This black jumpsuit is slenderizing and flattering, while the printed cape brings the drama without being over the top.

Picture

Billy Porter in Christian Siriano

The GOAT when it comes to high end fashion/styling, Billy Porter, nails it again! This looks to be a different take on his iconic tuxedo gown from back in 2019.

The fuchsia was an excellent choice! He pulls this off stunningly!

Picture

Jenna Ortega in Gucci

This is such a dreamy gown! And it fits her just right! The flowing fabrics, the cutouts, even her layered necklaces and haircut/color just work perfectly together!

Picture

Niecy Nash in Dolce and Gabbana

I love me some Niecy Nash! And I don't dislike this look necessarily -I think it looks great on her! And I love the royal purple color! I just wish the dress was either solid purple or all the print. I think both plus the dramatic ruffled cape/train is borderline overdoing it.

That said, I do not hate this look at all! Far from it! I think she wears it well and she looks fabulous in it!

Picture

Tyler James Williams in Amiri

This is what I mean when I said that men's fashion has come a long way. Gone are the days of the plain tuxedo, now we get to enjoy looks like this one!

I think that it fits him well and it stands out a bit. Everything matches nicely!

Picture

Letitia Wright in Prada

I LOVE, LOVE this dress! Everything about it! The simplicity of it, the colors, the fit, her orange heels that match it perfectly! I think it looks stunning against her skin tone. She just looks so regal and stunning! I had to include her in my favorites!

These are a few I did not like as much...

Sigourney Weaver in Saint Laurent -I don't like to be mean when I review people's clothing choices because we all have different styles and preferences, but there is nothing flattering about this dress. It completely erases her figure/waistline. I'm not crazy about the neckline, it doesn't look to me like her breasts are all that supported, and the huge pendant in the center.... I just... have no words. I kind of feel like I kind of see what kind of look she was going for but man, did she miss that mark.

Clair Danes in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture - This look is not terrible! I just wish the bow at the top was not there. That is the main thing ruining this look for me. Otherwise, I kind of like this look a lot!

Sebastian Stan in Larivin -I'm having a hard time putting my finger on what is off about this look. I feel like the jacket is too big maybe? Maybe it is the angle of the picture? I don't know, but something is throwing me off with this particular look. Am I the only one?

Picture

Seth Rogen in Dior

Seth Rogan has surprised me lately with some of his unique and actually quite stylish choices! This is not bad, although I would have gone with a darker shade of pink or red. Maybe even maroon (meet in the middle!)

My biggest gripe with Seth Rogan's style choices is his shoes! Guys! If you're going to wear lighter colored suits, do not wear black shoes! It ruins the look! Wear lighter colored shoes as well!

Picture

Evan Peters in ALDO

Okay, lets end on a high note!

So, I know I said all that about men's styles coming a long way. And I meant it! But there is nothing wrong with the classic tux!

Evan Peters pulls it off perfectly!
