A Two Way Pairing: Causal and Dressy...

Hello, Happy Friday, and Happy -early- Halloween!!

I hope you are well! Halloween is one of my all time favorite holidays! Part of it is that it is just getting cooler and the leaves are changing and I love that. But I also love the scary aspect of it too! Scary movies! Getting dressed up! The last two years at work I dressed up. One year I was Michael Myers and the next I was a clown. I had ideas for this year, but ya know... Covid... I am still very much indulging and enjoying the creepy movies that are constantly on! I love me some Halloween! I oddly love the Exorcist -it is one I try to watch every year, though I haven't seen it yet this year! Tonight I'm excited to watch a movie called 'Veronica' apparently it is a foreign film on Netflix. My friend Vikee -Designer Diva- recommended it. I watched the trailer and it DOES look super creepy! So I have been waiting all week to watch it! I will keep you posted!

On to today's look! It is pretty simplistic style wise. I knew I wanted to pair the skirt with the denim jacket and sneakers originally. That was my first thought. Its cute, its stylish, and appropriate for fall. Its a pretty effortless look, and you can wear it most anywhere. But as I was styling it I kept thinking how nice it would be with a leather jacker and heels. So I indulged in that idea and loved it! Yes! Perfect! So instead of doing two separate posts, I went ahead and combined the two.

A fun fact about this post,  the casual look pics were taken by my mom! I think she has a pretty good eye! What do you think!?

Thanks for reading and have a safe and fun Halloween weekend!

XOXO

Mixing Prints: Floral with Plaid...

Hello and Happy Monday!

I hope you are well and had a great weekend! I did! It was long, but it was a good one! Did anyone else catch Adele on SNL on Sat? I -regrettably- didn't get to see it air, but I caught clips online the next day. She is so wonderful! There was a sketch where she'd break out into some of her biggest hits and it has me pulling out my CDs and playing them on repeat in my car. She has some classics! Not to mention she is absolutely stunning!

Anyway, on to today's post! This look is another great fall look and it utilizes one of my favorite styling techniques -mixing prints. I love this technique! I think it adds so much look. It has an element of surprise. There are a few reasons why this particular look works. First of all there is a difference in the boldness of the prints. Yes, the floral dress is a bit more bold and more of a spring-time/summer print. But the blazer has a more subtle plaid print -it is a little hard to see in the picture- but it is more of a subtle contrast and opposed to an overwhelming one.

Secondly, the darker color of the blazer and the length of it helps contrast the summery feel of the dress. I feel that if it was too dark -black and navy are the two colors that come to mind at the moment- and the same length/fit it would be TOO stark of a contrast. But the light grey of this blazer tones down the brightness of the dress without over powering it.

And thirdly, the belt! Now the belt being solid black kind of anchors the look. It is subtle but it pulls the two pieces together.

What do you guys think!? Thank you for reading! And I will see you on Friday! =)

Hey Mom and Dad! Another Fall Look!

Hey everyone and happy Friday!

This is another one of my favorite fall looks! Last weekend, I spent almost all of Saturday putting together looks for the upcoming week. Then taking pictures, and then on Sunday, editing! I was able to style about six looks and then shot three of them on Sat. And another on Sunday. So it was a  pretty productive weekend! I love that feeling! I'm trying to maintain it on all of my days off! And also throughout the week too.

I'm constantly trying to think of new ideas, different content to post, new stylings or collabs. This is the kind of thing that I love. That creative energy really brings me to life. What also helps is a completely voluntary comment from my Dad! "Oh that looks nice!" "That really does look like fall!" Stuff like that! Those kind of comments really inspire me. Especially when they just come out of the blue. I was not really asking or looking for that validation. Hell, there are a lot of times I'll put a look together and take a few pictures just to see how it looks on camera -if it is really looks as good as I think it does or not. That is kind of what I was doing with these looks. But those honest comments from my Dad really made me love these looks even more.

And one last thing before I get on to the details of this look. My mom also played a big part in this weekends' shoot -yeah! She was the photographer for one of them! You'll probably know which one when you see it because the locations and angles will be different. But I will also tell you in the post. It will be later next week probably. But yes! She took a bunch of pictures for me and they came out great! So thank you both! I really appreciate it!

On to today's look! This is a look that I really love! This skirt is one of my all time favorite pieces! I have found numerous ways to style it -mostly summery- and now I have a great fall look too! When paired with this beige turtleneck sweater, it has such a cozy autumn feel to it. All of the colors are fall-like colors. The deep maroon of the boots and bag add an extra element of fall.  In general it kind of reminds me of a late afternoon walk in the park, with the leave changing. Its a comfortable temperature.

It is a perfect date look! But I could also go to meetings or lunches or even errands if I wanted to. It is a pretty versatile look.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend! See you on Monday!

Hello all and Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! It was such a gorgeous one! Perfect temperatures and sunny! I took a bunch of my pictures for this week on Saturday and I love the way the sun is shinning through the trees. Its beautiful! I love this time of year so much. I'm glad we are getting to enjoy the autumn this year. I feel like the last two years it was hot until halfway through October and then jumped to cold.

Maybe a few cool days here and there but not a true transition period.

Anyway! On to today's look! This is one of those looks that I just stumbled upon. I was going through my closet, trying to weed out pieces I don't wear often -this is an ongoing process!- and I have always loved both this asymmetrical hemmed skirt from Newchic.com and this collared shirt (I have no idea where I found it.) So I decided to pair them together! Now the boots were the gamble. I tried them on with this pairing just to see what it would look like and I really actually like the way they look! I like that they give this look more of an autumn feel and I also like the contrast between the deep maroon and the light pink in the collar of the shirt.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading! And have a great week!

XOXO

Revisiting the Untucked Look...

Hello and HAPPY FRIDAY!!

I am looking forward to this weekend! just some time to relax and unwind. Catch up on some stuff as well. I have been enjoying this weather! I love that the temps have been cool. Not too hot, not too cold. I feel like we are really experiencing fall.

Today I am revisiting the untucked look! I do really like this half tucked half untucked look. It is a little different and not all of the pictures do it the justice it deserves. I know I just shared this look a few posts ago but I had this idea in my head for a few days and wanted to try it out.

Its a relatively casual look. Distressed boyfriend jeans and of course the button down. Then add on the loafers and you have a perfect Saturday look! Or any type of casual outing. Brunch/lunch -if we still do this- running errands. I think it is a great look!

What are your thoughts?

Hey all and Happy Friday!

Today I'm sharing a quick post. I wanted to share with you this amazing tie dye tee from my friend Al Bowman! I've met Al a few times and he is one of the most ambitious people I have met! He owns his own clothing line, Affiliated Apparel! Which is where I found this tee!

It instantly drew my eye! I instantly had several different ways to style it going through my mind. Today I wanted to keep it simple just to show off the shirt. So I kept it simple and consistent with my fall theme.

In addition to being a good looking tee aesthetically speaking, it is also very soft and comfortable!

Right now, there is a 50% off end of season sale on the site. Its good for as long as supplies last. Last I checked, for this blog, this tee does not seem to be in stock. But there are other good pieces! Plus Al has a new line coming this fall. So stay tuned!

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

Breaking the Old Fashion Rules...

Hello and Happy Monday!

Well sleepy Monday for me! I did not get much sleep last night, but today has still turned out to be really good!

On to today's look! Its something relatively simple and yet a little different. I wanted to experiment in a few ways for this look. We have all heard the fashion rules growing up; you cannot wear white after Labor Day, you cannot mix brown and black or -in today's case- red and pink together. Well maybe these were all true at one point, but I feel like it is safe to say that in 2020 all rules have gone out the window!

Fashion wise, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Today I'm tackling the mixing of pink and red. Personally I think they go really well together in this look.

One trend I have been seeing and decided to try out myself was the half tucked/half untucked look. I have seen this done a few times and have always been on the fence about it. It grew on me enough I wanted to try it out. What I like about it is that I'm always one for an uneven hem. This particular look has a distinct sharpness to it, which is something new and I think I do like overall.

I think I will continue to play around and experiment with this look. In the mean time what do you think?

Thanks for reading and see you on Friday!

Autumn Colors...

Hello and Happy Friday!

I'm SO happy that October is here! It is hands down one of my favorite months! It is cooler out and there are horror movies on all the time!

Today I have another fall look for you. I restyled one of my Shein favorites -this burnt orange dress. The color alone fully embraces the autumn season. The asymmetrical ruffled hem is such a delightful feature. And I personally love the way it flows around out when you move.  Its' lightweight so I paired it with a moto jacket and booties.

In addition to adding warmth, the jacket and booties also give this look an edgier vibe. Which I am all here for!

There you have it, another perfect fall look! I hope you enjoy!

Thanks for reading and see you Monday!

XOXO
