I hope you are well and had a great weekend! I did! It was long, but it was a good one! Did anyone else catch Adele on SNL on Sat? I -regrettably- didn't get to see it air, but I caught clips online the next day. She is so wonderful! There was a sketch where she'd break out into some of her biggest hits and it has me pulling out my CDs and playing them on repeat in my car. She has some classics! Not to mention she is absolutely stunning!
Anyway, on to today's post! This look is another great fall look and it utilizes one of my favorite styling techniques -mixing prints. I love this technique! I think it adds so much look. It has an element of surprise. There are a few reasons why this particular look works. First of all there is a difference in the boldness of the prints. Yes, the floral dress is a bit more bold and more of a spring-time/summer print. But the blazer has a more subtle plaid print -it is a little hard to see in the picture- but it is more of a subtle contrast and opposed to an overwhelming one.
Secondly, the darker color of the blazer and the length of it helps contrast the summery feel of the dress. I feel that if it was too dark -black and navy are the two colors that come to mind at the moment- and the same length/fit it would be TOO stark of a contrast. But the light grey of this blazer tones down the brightness of the dress without over powering it.
And thirdly, the belt! Now the belt being solid black kind of anchors the look. It is subtle but it pulls the two pieces together.
What do you guys think!? Thank you for reading! And I will see you on Friday! =)
