Another Two-Way Pairing...

ut Ohh hey! Happy Monday!

Guys, I know things are weird but I'm so happy today. I'm so happy! I had a great weekend and then I watched 'Late Night' last night, which made me so happy! It was written and starred Mindy Kaling who is amazing. I am almost certainly going to order her books! If you do not know.... I'm a HUGE office fan! So seeing Mindy doing this amazing movie, I think loosely based on her own experience on 'The Office', seeing John Krasinski and Steve Carell recalling their 'Office' days' and of course the Office Ladies podcast -I look forward to that every Wednesday! On an unrelated note, John Oliver had a new episode today! I was not expecting it!

Plus it has been GORGEOUS out lately! I will take it!

Today I'm sharing a double post. I wanted to share two similar looks but also two different looks. So, the first; Its a casual yet still stylish look. Boyfriend jeans with button down top. That is what I was really showing off. How to wear button downs different ways.

Each look is different and unique. That is what I love about it.  I featured the theme of a button down top but switched up the pairings. Boyfriend jeans to shorts. I felt the blue button down fit better for this post with shorts than the pink. The thing is though both shirts and jeans/shorts are easily changed and can create different looks! That is the fun about fashion. Swap pieces out here and there and create whole new looks.

Just have fun and play around!

And taking a note from John Krasinski -tell me some good news! We could all use it for sure!

Stay safe and thanks for reading!

One Day at a Time:: Two Ways to Wear Sweats...

Hey all!

Happy Friday!

So a lot to tell you about here! This post took awhile -at least the styling/picture taking parts. So, it started with the white tee shirt, camo sweats, and the booties. I put it on and loved it. Then I took pictures and did not love how they came out. I liked about three of the pictures. No big deal. I can pair with sneakers too and take additional pictures. Which I did, last night around 7/7:30 ish. This morning I began editing the pictures I took last night and didn't love them. The lighting was very weird!

SO, I had no choice but to take more pictures today. I played around with different looks and fell in love with these two in particular. I think the 'Chill' tee and the sneakers fit perfectly. It is a more chill vibe. I think that was what was bothering me in the initial pairing. Where as the second pairing feels a bit more edgy and the booties seem more appropriate there. Personally, I am so much more pleased with how these pictures all came out. It was exactly the vision I had been aiming for.

The point of that back story; don't give up! If your first outfit idea does not come together the way you want, keep at it! I do this often. My looks don't always land the first go round. But I keep at it, I keep until I get a look I love.

Okay, so also, we are living in a weird limbo now. Its nerve wrecking, I'll admit. I have found myself feeling very anxious at times. For me, this blog keeps me sane. It keeps me calm and busy and I hope it does for you as well. I mentioned this before on social media. I have been trying to come up with five things to be thankful for each day. And/or five things that make me happy. Today, I'm grateful for my family, my friends. I'm grateful for my health and the residents I work with, I'm so grateful they are healthy. I'm grateful for because my sister's birthday is tomorrow! And while it will be different for sure, I'm grateful to be celebrating another year with her. I'm grateful for the Office Ladies podcast, because I swear that has been the highlight of my week. Every Wednesday, I look forward to their insights into one of my all time favorite shows. Today I started the series from the pilot episode and its so heart warming to hear Angela and Jenna conversing together. Not to mention a well needed break from the news.

And finally, I'm so grateful to have this blog to even have a way to release these feelings. I hope if you guys read it, it is able to help. Whether it be a needed distraction or gives you hope. I hope I can help somehow. I'd love for you guys to share things you are grateful for! That would make me so happy! I hope to hear from you soon! See you Monday!

Ringing in Spring with Bright Colors and Graphic Tees...

Hey all! Happy Monday!

(I know the date says Sunday, that is when I was typing it up but I don't publish until Monday.) Just in case you were wondering >D

Alright, so, a few things; first off I'm sorry for my hair. It has been on another level lately. I don't know what is going on with it. I am not really great with hair styling in general but this weekend... man... I wake up looking ridiculous! I managed to brush/hair spray it out today. But mostly it has been concealed under a hat. Any of my hair care gurus out there if you have any tips for how to manage it when it is like this, please let me know!

On to the post! I had a few gift cards to spend and so I went to Target -before social distancing/quarantine- and found a few goodies! This skirt being one of them! They had a few different colors, but this coral colored, satin-slip skirt grabbed my attention. I LOVE so much how the highlighter heels go so perfectly with it! It just screams spring to me! Since I did pair two bright colors together, I wanted to keep the top a bit more simple.

Thus the graphic tee.

Another interesting thing I encountered while styling this look. It is a bit tricky to pair things -my issue was finding a bag that matched- with the highlighter-yellow heels. I tried gold bags and darker bags, I even tried a straw bag -which I may revisit in the near future. But this was one of the more challenging pairings. Finally I tried this Target bag that I really liked with it. Which makes this an almost head to toe Target look.

Minus the tee and the jacket, everything is all Target!

Thank you so much for reading and stay well!

XOXO

Saturday Styling....

Hey all!

Happy Saturday! I hope you guys are having a great weekend so far. The weather is amazing! I cannot believe it is almost 80 outside. I'm hoping to get outside and get some more pictures for future posts.

This particular look is one I had taken pictures of earlier. It is a continuation of my vest styling two posts ago. I mention this particular look in that post and decided I wanted to go ahead and share it with you. There are two main things I really like about this look. The contrast of the vest against the all black look is one of the thing I like about it. And the other is how the vet lays when I tie it in the back as opposed to the front. It creates an interesting silhouette.

It is also a relatively simple look and comfortable as well!

So hopefully you are all holding up alright during this bizarre time! What is really taking a hit in these times are the small businesses. There are ways you can help them stay afloat right now without endangering anyone. Many boutiques are offering certain percentages off if you online shop as well as free shipping. Some shops are even offering to deliver purchases to your house if you live in a certain mile radius from the store. Of course there is also curbside pick up, which many boutiques and restaurants are offering. Of course if you're feeling hungry and tired of cooking, you can always hit drive through or through apps like Uber Eats, Post Mates, Grub Hub, etc.  These are just a few options that would certainly help out businesses during this time.

If you have more ideas please feel free to share!

And finally, don't discourage! I know it is a tough time, but lets stick together and remain positive as best we can. There is still a lot to be grateful for and to find joy in. Stay safe!

XOXO

Hey all!

Happy Monday!

Today I'm sharing with you a lovely, embellished crop top. I found it at Target and I LOVE, LOVE the sleeves. These details bring me so much joy! It is part of the Wild Fable branch. Clothing is something that is still to be found!

I can't ignore this -this panic that seems to consume us. I refuse to name it. I choose to continue on -at least as far as the blog goes. I won't stop posting.

Guys, lets all bond together. Share positive stuff. Happy stuff. I'll start! Today is my mom's birthday! YAYY! I wouldn't be alive without you! And also you have been the biggest supporter of me always and my blog! I just love you!

Okay guys! You're up! Tell me something happy!

We will be okay! Just stay informed, stay in when you can, and wash your hands.

Thanks for reading and for being on this journey together!

Happy Friday the 13th! And Return of the Belt Bag!

Hey all!

Happy Friday!

So, a few things about this look; this is what I call a three-two-one look. I don't have any good reason for calling it that, if I'm being honest. In my head it makes sense and I will try to convey my thought process here. It started with the vest. I paired it with an all black outfit and tied the vest behind instead of in front for more texture/body. I liked it and you'll see it soon! But then I started to play around with pairings. I came up with this and loved it! Granted I look like I maybe going on a safari... The final pairing was the same shorts with the same top and a scarf.

I guess I call it the three-two-one look because it stemmed from one look and went on to create two other looks. Both featuring pieces from at least one of the previous looks... the vest is the same in two looks, the belt bag is the same in the last two.. that's as good as I can describe. It was the first thing to pop in my head.

I'm weird. I know.

Also belt bags are a little hard to get used to! I'm so used to having a bag on my shoulder that when I'm hands free -I don't know what to do! I LOVE the way it looks! But it is something I have to get used to!

Thirdly, these shoes are AMAZING! I love them so much! But the heel is a bit higher than my typical heel. A few weeks ago, I think I pulled a muscle in my calf. It was rough! It hurt and I limped around for two days. Since then, it has mostly been better but I still feel some pain at times. Nothing like the two days I limped around for. But I noticed it. I did this shoot and I swear a day later my calf felt almost as painful as when I initially pulled the muscle!

Errg! I guess I'm not used to wear SUCH high heels.

Anywho! It does feel better, so I'm thinking this may have been the culprit!

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend! Don't worry!

In the wise words of my hero Tom Petty; "Most of the things I worry about, never happen anyway!"

Mixing Prints! Spring Edition!

Hey again! And Happy Monday!

Today I'm sharing a fun, spring fulled look. It was a gorgeous weekend after all and today has been beautiful too. So naturally, I opted for another spring inspired look.

I also happen to be using one of my favorite styling tricks -mixing prints!

You guys know how I love to mix prints. And sometimes the bolder the better! This is one of the more bolder pairings. Cheetah print and stripes. Its out there. But I think it works. For one think neither print is overwhelming. The stripes are thin enough and the cheetah prints are small enough that they even each other out. Plus you have the bits of white in the top that blend the two pieces.

It maybe a bit of a stretch, but I do think it helps the anchor the look better.

Then I kept the accessories light and as best I could within the same color families. I used my favorite circle bag because it was gold -and because it was a bit more fun!- To balance out the top. Blue heels to connect with the blue in the skirt and keep the balance even there.

All in all, this one of those looks I really enjoyed putting together. I saw the vision in my head and it came together about as I had thought it would! I was very pleased.

I hope you are too!

Thanks for reading! Have a great week!

XOXO

The CVP Experience!

Hello and Happy Friday!

Today I have a special post to share with you! Last Sunday, I was lucky to be a part of what is called the CVP Experience. CVP stands for Carlos Vincent Photography. He is a renowned photographer and rightfully so! But before I jump right into this, let me give a bit more in sight into this event.

It was a photo shoot that was put together by Sheila Sloan. Sheila and her husband Sheldon Sloan are the ultimate couple goals! They are so warm, receptive, inspiring, and supportive. It was such a joy to work with them, but to also watch them work. While Sheila, who is a remarkable make up artist -having worked on several shoots and worked with Charlotte Seen for shows- transformed the fresh faced young ladies into fierce fashion models, Sheldon was busy helping set things up, shooting videos, taking pictures, and making sure everyone was alright and entertaining the youngest models. The passion between the two was tangible. A woman with a dream and a man behind her, doing everything to help her achieve that dream.
Picture
We shot in the Todd Young Blood studio in NoDa. This shoot was a collaboration that Sheila told me was four years in the making! It consisted of three designers -at least on Sunday. Also,  I should say that I was only able to be there for part of the day. The shoot was from 8AM to 8PM but I had to leave by three unfortunately. But the time I was there was so inspiring and wonderful! I got to know so many creative, ambitious, and aspiring people. It was a small studio and yet huge as far as energy goes. Everyone was so pleasant and so full of life, inspiration, and excitement it was overwhelming. At one point, Shelia was even moved to tears!

First off, there was Carlos Vincent, world renowned photographer! And after seeing his work I was blown away! Now I have worked with a few photographers and it is a bit awkward at times, but it is usually just me and the photographer. This shoot the models were in front of the camera with ten to fifteen people looking on. It HAD to be intimidating and yet they were composed and calm. Carlos was a huge part of that. Before the shoot started, we had a chance to chat a bit and he told me a bit of his story. He had fallen in love with photography in school and then as he explained, his heart was broken when he was not able to keep the equipment. However, he was drawn back into his passion a few years later. Now Carlos's photographs have been featured in Vogue several times and he is living out his dream. As we spoke, Carlos talked about making sure the models feel as comfortable as possible when they are in front of the camera. That included spending time right before the shoot speaking to the models one on one before the shoot. His presence seemed very calming behind the scenes and then transformed to inspirational and encouraging once the shoot began.
Picture
The designers were also amazing. There were three there on Sunday. Two recyclable designers; Pam Cosper and Maria Gallardo. Both of these ladies have incredible designs using all recyclable materials. Pam made a dress out of plastic table cloths. Similarly, Maria made two incredible dresses out of the same type of materials. She has one black and white dress that is made out of black trash bags. The bodice is made out of the bottoms of soda cans! She also created a wedding dress with a bodice and head piece made out of plastic spoons and it looked stunning! The texture is incredible. The creativity is unbelievable!

There was also Fiona Rose, model turned designer. At the young age of 17, she is a very accomplished lady! She works hard and is extremely creative, which you can tell through her designs. Fiona was a joy to watch during the day. She interacted with everyone, listened and contributed to other peoples' stories, and encouraged the younger models that day. We got to chat a bit that day and she is wise beyond her years, in my opinion.
Picture
Then of course there were our models! There were several! The ones I saw were Kristin Blythe, Tonya Porter, Justine Robinson, Aria Lane, Rachel Brown and our youngest models of the day, 4-year old twins; Kamden and Kamyiah. What a group! Kristin, Justine, Tonya, and Aria were pretty young -early teens. And yet they brought their A game. They were patient, respectful, kind, and -the best part- you could see them coming out of their shell as the day went on. The first few shots were a little reserved and honestly I can't blame them there. It can be intimidating to be in front of a camera alone, add to it additional people taking pictures and observing -I can't even imagine! But they kept their cool and the shots that came out were incredible. You could also tell when they began to feel more comfortable. The poses became more natural and it felt as if they did not even notice the others in the room. Signs of a true professional!

Kamden and Kamyiah, they were an amazing handful! They had so much energy and were so excited to be there! Not to mention they were cute as all! They kept that same energy up the entire time they were there, which was a few hours! Their shots brought smiles to everyone. It was such pure joy and excitement!

It was such an incredible day! I wish I had been able to spend the entire day there. It was so inspiring to be in that studio with everyone. There was so much creativity, so much talent, so much support! It was so beautiful! Thank you to Shelia and Sheldon for having me! I had such a great time! I hope we can work again together in the future!

Thank you guys for reading! I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did!

Have a great weekend!

A Bit of Spring in the Air..

Hey guys!

Happy Monday!

What a weekend I had! I had an incredible experience Sunday, which I will be sharing with you, I am hoping on Friday. I was able to be a part of a photo shoot, where I was able to interact with and chat with make up artists, designers, models, and photographers. It was such a great experience. But I will tell you more about it in my next post.

Today, I am sharing a fun spring look with you. I have always loved this skirt. There is so much texture and movement that is going on when I wear it. I took these pictures earlier and it was a breezy day and so there was a lot more movement in the skirt, which I adored. Personally, I love when it things just happen naturally. From the natural lighting to the breeze blowing my skirt in certain directions. It gives the piece a more authentic feel which I appreciate. Generally speaking, the design of the skirt has a lot of movement to it. That is why it one of my favorite pieces.

The crop top is another piece that speaks to me. I can't bring myself to part with it. I think it is because it just come in handy sometimes. This is a prime example. It works so perfectly with this skirt and the denim jacket really sells the casual, chic look.

Of course, I layered two necklaces together. One from LOFT and the other one of my Palmpe necklaces. I've got another on the way that I cannot wait to share with you! Their necklaces -and jewelry in general- is so delicate but styles so effortlessly. Which is why I love them so much.

Thank you so much for reading. Stay tuned I have more coming up!

XOXO
