Hey all!

Just a quiet and short post for today. I put this look together a while ago. A fierce graphic tee for a time when we have to be fierce. It has been a staple of mine for a while. I love the tiger face, I love especially pairing it with blazers. If you have followed the blog for a bit, I'm sure you have seen different variations of this look.

This look seems so effortless in my opinion. The blazer ties things together and the bag is my pop of color -you guys know how I live for those pops of colors! ;)
Please keep me and my friends in your prayers, I can't get into it too much here. But they especially are going through it right now. My head and my heart are with them and I'm just so in awe of them. They are my heroes!

Thank you for reading and I hope I'll see you guys on Monday! Have a great weekend. Stay safe!

The Darkness Has Not Over Come the Light...

Hello all!

Its a happy Monday, but its also a crazy one as well. I'm smiling in these pictures, but in reality I'm very nervous. I am sad. I am only continuing this blog today to retain some sense of normalcy.

It continues to be my sanity in these times. It keeps me pressing forward for something better and  it keeps me hopeful. I hope it can do the same for you guys too.

For today's post, I was playing with mixing textures and colors. The textures was the biggest difference I paired a pleather top with linen shorts. The combo is a little out there but I think it works pretty effortlessly Although the top was hot! I DO NOT recommend it for the mid afternoon! Early mornings or later evenings sure! But from 12 to probably 7ish I would not attempt! Lol Especially if you will be outside a lot. I was a sweaty mess when I got finished with this post.

Color was the other thing I experimented with. I paired the burgundy top with one of my favorite coral colored bags. Personally I love the contrast. I know some may not. But it was something a little different and unexpected. I could have played it safe... but where is the fun in that?!

Well thank you for reading, and guys, please be safe out there! I love you guys and I hope I can continue to cheer you up through the blog. Thanks for reading and for being on this journey with me! It really does mean the world to me.

XOXO

Just a quick post tonight!

A body suit and boyfriend jeans!

It is very comfy and just a few added touches -the necklace, the belt, the booties, the bag- makes it all the better!

I am sorry this is so late! But I hope you enjoy it all the same!

Thanks fo reading!

Hey all and happy Friday!

If you guys only knew the amount of cussing that was involved in this post... well you may hate me! I sweat though, I was planning this post in my head for days now, but had not had time to actually take the pictures. So today, I got up and spent a good 15 mins trying to get the perfect pictures. I finally had them! I had fifteen that I could work with! So I tried for one more. Hated it. Went to delete it and instead of deleting current image, my dumbass hit buttons too quickly and ended deleting ALL THE IMAGES!

Internally I died a little bit!

I spent another 15 mins trying to recreate the previous pictures. I got more frustrated the more I tried.

What I was hoping to share with you is these unique and super cute Shein sandals! While I'm not 100% crazy about these pictures, I do think the sandals are captured beautifully!

I hope you like them and when things are hard, don't give up! We have got this!

Thanks for reading!

XOXO

Hey all! And Happy Monday!

Today I'm continuing my Shein.com shopping haul with this lovely maxi dress!

I was drawn to it because of the dramatic, asymmetrical ruffle that cuts up the side of the dress. How creative is that!? The color is flattering The fit loose and light. The material is breathable, so I won't sweat to death in it!

What is not to love?

I love when I walk in it as well. It just flows and moves in such a lovely way.

Another bonus? It is a pretty easy piece to style. A denim jacket would go perfectly for an evening date. Flats -ya know if you are tall enough! I was even thinking maybe a vest. I will certainly be experimenting with it, that is for sure!

Thank you so much for reading! And I hope you have a wonderful week!

Spotlight Series: The Power Hour with DJ Larry Jones!

7/8/2020

Welcome to my Spotlight Series!

Today I'm spotlighting my friend, DJ Larry Jones! I have always believed that creative minds tend to gravitate towards each other and that is how Larry and I got to know each other! We work at the same place and would engage in regular friendly conversation as our paths crossed. Our creative endeavors were a topic that came up frequently. Larry hosts his own radio show -The Power Hour- which I have heard a lot about. I told him about my blog. We began tossing around the idea of working together sometime. Then we began to realize that our worlds outside of work were interlinked. We knew some of the same people and have or have been involved with different organizations. What a small world! I was able to chat with Larry and get to know more about him and his journey as a DJ. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!

Larry grew up in Harlem, NY with five sisters and one brother. "I was always really into music," Larry told me, "my dad played everything. He was very invested in music and I loved to watch him practice." In fact music was a huge part of Larry's move into radio. In fact he actually got a scholarship to NYU for the trombone. "I did not end up taking it because of peer pressure," Larry explained. Well, that did not slow him down. Larry moved to North Carolina in 2006 and still wanting to satisfy his love for music, he began to venture into radio. "What I love about radio is that it combines my love for music and the power of my voice," he told me, " you have a platform to talk about what you feel is important and share that with a large group of people. No one can steal that from you. No one can take your voice."

It was still quite the learning experience. "I had to learn how to speak on the radio -there is a certain way to speak," he said, "and you have to have the knowledge of what you are talking about of course."

On The Power Hour, Larry covers a wide range of topics. Everything from interviewing celebrities, to kidnap and rape victims sharing their stories, to fitness instructors, Larry has covered it all. In fact this past Monday he was invited to a proclamation signing by city officials. "I don't want to limit myself," he explained.

Larry did tell me that health and wellness is one of his favorite topics so every Monday he does a segment about 'What is in Your Diet?' He often includes fitness instructor, Tanra Brown, who conducts a Youtube live stream and covers foods to eat. In fact, Larry said that one his most rewarding experiences was when a guy called in and said that he and his wife had changed their diets because of the segment.

While that was a rewarding experience, Larry has also had some very difficult conversations as well. "One of the most hardest hitting projects was talking to a woman who was abducted by traffickers. which was extremely emotional." Currently there is the Black Lives Matters protests that are being held all over the country. "For me, personally, I will speak on the issues but also keep moving forward," Larry said, "I think that there is a lot of good that has come out of these protests. though it can be challenging at times."

Larry has to easily be one of my favorite people at work, and I love his drive and his vision for his dream. "I want to see this through. My goal is to move to XM Radio," he told me. And I don't think he is that far off from it! I'm so excited to see where this journey takes him!

You can find him on Youtube and Instagram

A Khaki Story....

Hello my lovely friends!

I hope you guys are all well!

Today I paired together a different type of combo; cargo pants and a pleather top!

Oddly enough I love the contrast! Obviously... otherwise why post right? But there is something I really love about this look! Perhaps its the color contrast? I do love the deep red against the khaki color. Perhaps its the texture contrast? Because I do feel like it is a stark contrast, but I think they combine well together!

I wanted to keep accessories very simple. So I went with a simple necklace and a neutral bag.

I am really pleased with how it turned out! What do you guys think?!

Thanks for reading!!

Tough Chic:: Graphic Tee and Pleather Skirt....

Hey all! Happy Friday!

I hope you're having a great week so far! What are you guys doing over this holiday weekend? I wish there was a good firework show to go to. But with things the way they are right now, I bet that is hard to come by. I could not tell you the last time I've seen fireworks. Maybe once this virus clears enough, maybe we can celebrate with a fabulous firework show -with proper distancing of course!

On to today's look. This graphic tee has to be one of my favorite purchases ever. You've seen it plenty of times on here. It has kind of an edgy feel to it. The tee itself is so soft! Interestingly enough, I was thinking of going a different way at first. Initially I had an idea to pair this shirt with a pair of denim shorts and possibly a vest of some kind and then this skirt with a light blue tee. I happened to be texting a friend at the time and he suggested the graphic tee with the skirt. That got me curious, so I tried it and LOVED it!

The skirt was actually one of my first gifts from a company called Newchic.com. I was working with them and they allowed me to pick out a few items to to style and post about. This skirt was one of the first thing to catch my eye. I worked with them a few times. This skirt has remained one of my favorite pieces. The asymmetrical slit, the pleather material, and the rouging details -it is full of character!

Thanks for reading and thanks to my friend Santi for this idea! It was a hit!

I hope you guys have a safe 4th and a safe weekend! Enjoy!

XOXO
