It has been a minuet! Have you missed me?
I missed you guys!
I really did! And it feels really good to be back at it and posting again. Also, do I look ready to go back to school?! Because I am! Yes ma'm! I am taking a photography course at a community college nearby. I am HOPING my first day will be September 14th. It was supposed to be August 10th -I think- but that particular class was cancelled because I suppose not enough people had signed up for it. I was a bit bummed because I was hoping for my first post back I would have some better quality pictures for you guys. (Although actually, I feel like these came out pretty well.)
Let me back up a moment. A little over a year ago, I bought a camera from a former co-worker, a nice camera! A Nikon D90! BY FAR the nicest camera I've ever owned. When I went to pick it up, they walked me through it and it seemed simple enough at the time. When I got home and went to use it a day or two later... I felt so lost! All that they told me had gone straight out the window. I think it was the self timer that I really couldn't figure out. Now, the smart thing to do would have been to message them and just ask. At that particular moment I was really needing pictures for a post, so I used my other camera. The one I use for most of my posts, got the pictures, got the post written, and forgot to message them. Basically I just kept procrastinating -thanks ADD- until it wasn't just the self timer I would need help with. It was everything! So, as much as it hurts to write this, the camera has just been sitting in our front room for sometime!
In July, when I decided to take a break from blogging, I was getting frustrated with my blog. I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere with it and I was even starting to feel like it was more of an obligation than it was fun. There were some other things as well that contributed to that feeling -some personal things that I don't really want to share here but will talk about one on one if you have questions. That's when I decided I needed to slow down and take a break. I focused on myself in that time and I also focused on how I wanted to reinvent my blog. What could I do that would make it fun again for me? That is when I decided I wanted to once and for all figure this camera out. I reached out to a few of my camera savy friends but when they weren't able to help me, I decided to enroll in a course. I figure at least I will learn and at most I might meet other like minded/creative people who might want to collaborate with me. Who knows?
I'm also going to venture onto YouTube. This is one of my more scarier goals and it is going to be a learning experience for sure! I have so many ideas of topics to cover! However talking on camera is daunting to me. I figure though, the more I do it the easier it will become. And both of these things have really reignited my love for this blog! It reminds me of why I started in the first place. I will keep you posted on the YouTube timeline!
And finally I'm really going to try and not worry about numbers or what other people are doing/comparing myself to other people. That is such a dangerous trap to fall into and I 100% did two months ago. Now I am just excited to get back out there and go at my own pace and write/blog about the things I want to write and blog about.
For this post, I really just wanted to tell you about my time away and what I've been up to. But I cannot end it before telling you about this look! This look is one of my favorites! Its comfortable and versatile as we transition from summer to fall. The shorts and cropped jacket I found at a boutique called Marti and Liz Shoes. They are primarily a shoe store, but they also have some clothing as well. I went there in August on a mini shopping spree with my mom and my Aunt. My Aunt really sold me on the jacket. I've never had anything with star prints before! But I love the cropped look and the slightly oversized look of it and felt that it really went well with these shorts.
I love the burnt orange color of the shorts! It is one of my favorite colors! It puts me in mind of fall! (Which I cannot wait for!)
And of course, I wouldn't be back-to-school ready without my Steve Madden back pack! Thanks Aunt Sherry!
Thank you so much for reading! Stay tuned, there is a lot coming up! =)
