Bold Stripes and Playful Hues...

Happy Friday!

For today's post I decided to restyle one of my favorite pieces -my striped pencil skirt! I love how bold the stripes are. It in itself is a statement piece in my opinion. It is a bold, determined look -a power skirt in a sense!

Since it is Friday, and because I like to add a contrasting element to each ensemble, I paired it with this pink, ruffled, Elle top. It adds a striking contrast as well as a fun, feminine nature to this ensemble.

The denim jacket was just an added touch that I felt helped neutralize the ensemble. It adds a casual nature to the outfit, making it friendly and appropriate for any and everywhere I may go today!

Thank you for reading! Have a great day and a great weekend! =)

One Dress, (At Least) Two Different Looks...

Hello to everyone! =)

Hope you are all doing well! And I am excited for my first post of the May Style Challenge! My first piece of advice to you; invest in a shift dress!

I used to be a little on the fence about this piece, only because I feel that on me, because my chest is larger, it would not do my figure any favors by hiding it. However, I have decided that was an incorrect assumption.

Shift dresses are actually one of the more versatile pieces you can find! For today's post I wanted to show two different ways to wear it. First I paired it with a blazer, Mossimo heels, a black belt to cinch at my waist, and a Target bag (thanks again Mom! =) This is a nice, professional, go-to look especially if you are in a hurry. It is simple, polished, and professional.

It can also be a nice after work ensemble. I ditched the belt and added my Dakota collared trench coat, and switched to a navy, beaded, clutch. It has a more relaxed, yet still polished and determined look. These were just the two I came up with for this particular post. Add some chic booties and a denim jacket and you have a great look for a summer concert or flats to run errands. There are several possibilities with this particular piece. Thus you have at least four different ensembles to wear out! =)

I hope this helps a little!

Thanks for reading! Have a great day! =)

Bright, Bold Statement Pieces...

Happy Monday!

I have been feeling very excited and inspired lately. I like to think it shows in my clothing choices. I am creating bolder or more creative ensembles. Today I felt my inner Beyoncé coming out in this bright, bold ensemble.

I felt instantly attracted to this bright, Versona tunic. The color is bold and determined while the fit and the billowy structure is feminine and whimsical. The belt -also a Versona piece- is another bold statement. It also has a very determined energy to it. I love the two pieces together. They have a unique, romantic yet determined, structured feel. Which is exactly how I have been feeling lately. I like to do the things that make me happy. And while it may seem flighty or perhaps free spirited to some, I do have goals that I have set for myself. Goals that I am consciously working towards every day.

Staying true to that theme, I opted for strappy Mossimo heels and black and white clutch from  Target (which I must thank my mother for letting me borrow for this ensemble!) =)

Which brings us to my May Style Challenge idea. As I mentioned before I have been feeling more inspired lately and part of it is because of these ideas that have been coming to me. I follow several other blogs as well and have learned from other great minds different ways to keep blogs interesting and fun for readers and/followers.

So I decided to do something new this month. I don't know about you, but some days I open my closet and although it has more than enough pieces of clothing, I still feel like I have nothing to wear. It all feels old or boring or in need of sprucing -whatever the case maybe. Well in lieu of some personal decisions and this new found inspiration, I decided that for this whole month of May I will not buy any new pieces of clothing or accessories. Instead I am going to restyle the pieces that are currently in my closet. I will also offer tips to how you guys can achieve this on your own, because I do know the feeling of feeling in a fashion rut or lull. It just takes some creativity.

The Honor System is key in this. Since I have pieces I have not shared yet or have not worn in a long time they may appear to be new but I promise to inform you if I do come across a sale too good to pass up (I'm only human after all! Besides a great sale is a terrible thing to waste, ha!) But this is my May Style Challenge. Tune in! I would appreciate any and all support and good luck wishes! I hope I can help out at least one other lady there! :)

Thank you for reading! I appreciate you very much! =)

Comfy Sunday:: Harem Pants with a Dash of Red..

Happy Sunday!

It is a beautiful Sunday! The whole weekend has been beautiful!

Today I decided to try something different. I decided to try my hand at styling harem pants. Harem pants are deceptive -at least to me- because they look effortless on most everyone. However, they are not for me. For me it took a bit of time pairing different tops, shoes, bags, and accessories.

The thing about harem pants, you want to pull off the laid back, effortless look but there is a fine line between laid back/effortless and sloppy.

I was pretty pleased with the look I created. The loose fitting top fits the laid back feel of the harem pants. Its' structure along with the color block of the stripes and the straps of the Versona heels pull it together for a polished, chic look.

And of course, my signature style is to add a dash of color, which I incorporated with a small, red, Versona clutch.

On a side note, I am excited to share a new idea that I have been brainstorming this weekend. I plan on making it official in my next post. But it is going to be my May Style Challenge! Stay tuned.... :)

As always, thank you for reading! :)

Tribal Printed Romper...

Happy Friday! :)

I am continuing to experiment with rompers again today. I fell in love with this tribal printed, Versona romper almost at once. It has a flattering fit for my figure. The all over tribal print, besides being great colors, helps hide any flaws that there maybe.

I paired it with this bright red, Chause NY blazer and Mossimo wedges for a more polished look. However, the great thing about rompers is they can be very versatile. A denim jacket or sandals and you have a great casual ensemble for running errands or grabbing coffee with friends.

I am currently looking for Gladiator sandals! I think they would look great with this romper as well! :)

Thanks for reading! Have a great day and weekend! :)
