Hello and Happy Wednesday!

I hope you all are having a good week so far!

This week for my Fashion Inspo I chose Billy Porter!

I feel like I cannot in good conscious, write a fashion blog without including him! Billy Porter is a fashion icon! His looks never disappoint! And they are always head-turning and show stopping!

You may know Billy as an actor, singer, or writer -all of which he is very accomplished. He began in the theater, starring in Broadway musicals like Kinky Boots. I knew him best in his role in the FX show, Pose. for which he was nominated for three Golden Globes and won an Emmy. He made history by winning that Emmy by being the first gay, black man ever nominated/winning for a lead acting category.

The first time I really started to follow him style wise, was when he wore the fitted tuxedo gown made by Christian Siriano to the 91st Academy Awards! I remember the E! News reporters fawning over it. I happened to miss seeing him, so of course, I began furiously googling to see what all of the fuss was about. They were right to fawn about it! It was such a dynamic look! And he wore it so elegantly!

After people were surprised at some of his previous fashion choices, Billy was inspired to ask Christian Siriano to make him a ball gown because he 'wanted to wear one' and 'wanted to challenge people's ideas about masculinity.'

Since then, Billy's styles have continued to make waves. Who can forget the turquoise jumpsuit with the motorized hat?! Or the white tuxedo jacket with the feathered train? Or the royal purple cape with the matching wide brimmed hat and gloves (pictured down below)? In fact, does Billy have off duty looks!? The closest I could find all still looked on point!

As a gay, black man Billy is a huge inspiration for many others out there. He is a voice of courage to those who also wish to wear ball gowns but have not had the courage to do it yet. Artistically, he is a huge inspiration to me. He makes me want to take more chances, put out more that can really get people talking and thinking. Of course, style-wise I LOVE him! I always look forward to seeing what he comes up with next!

Thank you, Billy Porter! You are a force to be reckoned with! Keep on being you!

Thanks for reading! See you guys on Friday! =D

Swinging into Fall: Polka Dot, Swing Dress...

Hello and Happy Monday!

I hope you are enjoying this nice long weekend!

My Dad was saying the other day how Labor Day weekend is one of his favorite long weekends. Being a teacher, it is nice to have a short week after the first week back of school. And in his mind -and in my mind too- it really ushers in the fall season.

With that in mind, I am trying harder to create more fall focused looks to share, but the problem is its still hot!

This weekend has been no exception.

I actually had a whole different post in mind for today, but it involved sweaters and scarves, and I figured you guys would think I was nuts if I posted it when it was in the 90s!

So, I decided to post this ruffled, polka dot, swing dress and booties instead!

I found this on Amazon and was instantly drawn to it! The color, the style, the fit -everything! It is an easy piece to style and is a great transitional piece; from summer to fall and winter to spring in particular. It could be a nice summer dress too, but it IS still long sleeved and while it is very breezy, I was definitely working up a sweat just shooting over the weekend!

In addition to the heat, the lighting was a bit all over the place for this particular location at least.

Sometimes the sun was tucked behind trees or buildings, then next thing you know it was out front and center. I made it work though, but it took a while! And as you can see some pictures are much brighter than others! xD

Well, I hope you guys enjoy the day! Thanks for reading! See you on Wednesday!

Hello friends! Happy Friday! Also, happy long weekend!

I realize this is still more of a summery kind of look, but I promise Monday will start some fall-ish looks. It is just that the temps are still hot, and I don't like to roast when I shoot -lol.

This was a fun shoot day! And by fun, I mean I got up crazy early to be able to shoot at this location without too many people around, had to stay longer than I would have liked struggling with lighting, and had the crap scared out of me by one of the employees of the restaurant!

Three outfits and five to six hours later I was able to call it a very productive and tiring, but good day!

I shot at this place called The Loyalist Market, which is a restaurant that specializes in cheese and charcuterie. I have driven past it many times and never realized what it was. It was the mural that drew my eye -though I'm sure you probably guessed that! But once I realized what it was and looked it up, I think I am going to have to stop in and give it a try! It sounds like a fun girl's night kind of place!

The building and the outdoor patio also have really great aesthetics that I was drawn to also. From the brick to the string lights, to the iron gates, it has such a cozy and quaint feel to it!

This look is a simple but comfortable one! And I have worn it a lot the last part of summer. What I love about this look -aside from the ventilation factor- is the versatility of it. It can be worn just about anywhere!

Morning coffee run? Check. Running errands during the day? Check. Lunch? Check. Date night? Sure! Just throw on a light jacket and you're good to go! Swap the sandles out for heels and maybe the bag for a clutch and you've got a dressier look. It is such a great summer look!

The bag is a Target find that I love -I love the color in particular. The one thing I do not like about it is that there is a strand of beads across one side of it. I am not a fan of it. I feel like it cheapens the overall look of the bag. So, I am in the process of trying to gently remove said beads. It shouldn't be too hard but wish me luck all the same! XD

What are you guys up to this weekend? Any fun plans? Is anyone heading to the Matthews Alive festival? Maybe I'll see you there!

Thanks for reading! See you on Monday! =)
