Hello all! Happy Friday!

Today I am sharing this super cute and breezy, summer dress from LOFT with you!

I love a dress that is comfy AND functional! In this heat, I need a piece to be stylish and breathable! This dress is just that! The design of the dress is so chic! The ruching detail and drop hem are dynamite details!

And it being sleeveless, the semi open back, and side cutouts make it breathable! Although I still sweated a good bit!

I wore this dress out to see Tina the Musical! last Wednesday!

What an experience! I knew very little about Tina Turner going into it. I knew some of her music -though I actually knew a lot more than I realized, I just did not know that was her!- but this told the story of her life. Her journey was not an easy one, but she was a tough lady! She persevered through poverty, abuse, rejection, and struggling to live paycheck-to-paycheck before making it really big in her 40s.

Tina never seemed to loose her sense of humor, and kindness though faced with so many challenges. She seemed to face things head on. She found friendship in the most unlikely places as well! It had me moved to tears at time!

The story was wonderfully acted out. The costumes were incredible! There were really fun dresses for various performances throughout her career and you guys know, I was pumped about them!

The lady who played Tina Turner was incredible! At the end of the show, she performed two more songs as an encore and half the time she was performing, I forgot that it was not actually Tina Turner! She was truly such a mesmerizing and talented woman!

If you guys ever get the chance to see that musical, I would highly recommend that you go! It will leave you dancing and feeling inspired for days afterwards!

Playful Chic: Fun with Accessories!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Today I have a fun look to begin the week! I had a lot of fun styling this look! Though I will admit, it is probably better suited for early Spring or Fall than June -when it is HOT! The socks in particular had me burning up while shooting this look!

But it is still a really fun look!
Picture

It began with me wanting to style the top. I have never had a top with a peter pan collar, like this, so it is a bit of new territory for me. I had an idea, but when that didn't work out, I was looking for another idea.

I also wanted to style the socks with the kitten heels. Right away, I loved that pairing!  Then, on a whim, I styled it with this lace skirt.

I think my first though was 'well.... I don't hate it!' and thus, a seed was planted!

I played around with several different chain belts and finally settled on this layered look!

And to complete the look? The Kate Spade taxi cab bag! It was the PERFECT touch!

It is a unique and playful look! The white-on-white base is a great canvas to style. Not too many colors are involved, which I personally think keeps it from being too much, as well as the minimal use of accessories.

Now I just need somewhere to wear it! I'm sure I can find something.... ;D

Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful week ahead!

Hello all and Happy early birthday to me!!

My birthday is Sat and I will be celebrating all weekend! My plans are to go roller skating -I know I am reliving my childhood! And then just hanging out with my family and taking it easy. Then Sunday, I'll have an actual birthday dinner with my whole family! And maybe next week I'll do dinner with a few friends!

My friend -who's birthday is in July- treated ourselves to an early birthday treat by going to see Tina the Musical last night! That was a spectacular show! I'll tell you about it on Monday!

Today's look is one of my all time favorites!

Why, you ask?

Well for one thing, it is comfortable and not overly fussy. The button down is very light weight and oversized, so plenty of room to move around or hide issues like bloating or a little extra poundage! But it still has that summer-vibe about it.

And secondly, it has a lot of small details that really come together! I layered a pearl necklace with a charm necklace, which I found to be a playful combination -and I never really thought I would describe pearls as playful! The charm necklace and the overall casual feel of the look, kind of dresses the pearls down for a unique look.

I personally also love the tiny bits of gold embellishments etched in the whole look. The gold floral embellishments on the shirt, the hints of gold in the necklaces, the gold chain belt, and the gold, sparkly heels. It is small amounts of gold all the way town, that all come together and anchor the look!

I sometimes see a look and really study it, all of the small details that come together to bring it to life. I'll then use that inspiration to recreate the look but put my own spin on it. Those are the things that bring me such joy! And I hope I can help bring you that same joy by sharing my thought process when styling.

Or if you need or want me to style you! Feel free to reach out to me on IG (@reaganinmyownworld) and DM me! Id love to connect!

Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend and stay safe!

Chicago Part 2: The Color Factory...

Hello and welcome back!

I'm back to my Chicago content part 2! The second and full day in the city was pretty busy! Our first stop was The Color Factory which was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had!

It was room after room of immersive experiences involving color! One room was very animated with tons of places to pose and take pictures and tons of mirrors that gave it a maze-like effect. Another room featured colorful horns that made noise when you moved in front of it, so with a group of people it made a lot of cool music. Yet another featured balloons that were suspended in the air by air holes in the floor.

That room was probably one of my favorites! It felt so happy! It was impossible to not have a good time in that room!

In fact, most of the rooms felt happy, but I suppose that one had an added burst of joy in it! And of course, there was the ball pit!

I have not been in a ball pit since I was a kid at McDonald's or Chuck E Cheeze! It is HARD to wade through a ball pit! It felt similar to walking in water, except I'd argue it was a bit harder. At least water moves around your body, the balls you had to step on or around! But it was such fun!

It felt like I was reliving my childhood!

The final part of our trip was a river boat tour of the architecture in Chicago.

I really did enjoy the architecture of the city. Many buildings had very distinct looks and character to them as opposed to a skyline of buildings that all look the same. It really made the city so beautiful. And The river itself was so beautiful! I enjoyed walking around the city. My only gripe was that the way people were happy to lay on their horns in the city! Chill out, would you?!

I was so proud of myself for this trip! For planning it, booking it, not chickening out, then navigating the city relatively well! (I may have gotten turned around a time or two, but nothing terrible!)

Chicago, you were a dream! Thanks for having me!

I'll be back, don't you worry! =D

The Dream Team: White and Silver for the Win!

Before I continue with my Chicago content, I want to take a moment to tell you about The Carolina Fashion Awards I attended last Saturday!

It was my first time, and I went with a friend of mine, Nira of Nira Loves Fashion Boutique, who was nominated for boutique of the year. It was a good time! Everyone looked so stunning all dressed up! The theme this year was 'Give Us Space' and it is always interesting to me to see how everyone interprets themes.

There were a lot of sculptural embellished gowns, a lot of sequins and metallics. Funky sunglasses! Head pieces! My girl, Nira, arrived with two models- Mary and Chanell- and they were DECKED OUT! Oversized, silver boots, headpieces, chain fringe, and spiked sunglasses! They all looked phenomenal!

This was my look! It was very much a last minuet look!

I was not sure almost up until the day of, if I would be going or not. My original look was metallic pink trousers, with a sheer black body suit. I had to drop it off at my tailor before Chicago, and when I went to pick it up Friday morning, they were not quite ready. So, I had to decide on a back-up.

Thankfully, this idea had occurred to me. I loved how the dress, heels, and jacket paired together. I knew I wanted to pair the chain belt with it too. But when I put it on, it... lacked a bit. On a whim, I paired the pearl belt with it too. It was exactly what the look needed! A little extra texture and interest, but still dainty enough to not be overkill!

The whole night was a great time! I saw several familiar faces, met some new friends, celebrated everyone's wins!

Guys, Nira won in her category! The whole room erupted with applause and cheers when her name was called out! Chanell, one of the models, also won big! Model of the year! It was such a joyful night!

Thanks for reading! And congratulations to all of the winners! It was well deserved!

Chicago Part 1: Urban Style!

Hello all!

I am back from Chicago! It was a whirlwind trip, and I am about to tell you all about it!

My desire to go to Chicago came back in November at work. I had been under a lot of stress and was actually having a bit of an anxiety attack, I just needed to focus on something else! I had come across a few pictures of different creators taking their picture in The Bean sculpture and had it in my mind that it would be fun to do sometime. So, in that moment I started to look up things to do in Chicago. Thus, the desire began!

It is hard to believe that simple idea months ago actually came to fruition just last week!

It was my first time planning a trip, and let me tell you, it is not for the weak!

It was challenging! Not just the planning but also making sure it went off with little to no hitches! Shockingly though, my mom and I did not really hit any problems! It had to be the smoothest trip to the airport I have ever experience, both coming and going!

Navigating the city was a tad tricky, but we figured it out pretty well! The first day, we headed up to the sky deck in the Willis Tower -the tallest building in Chicago, also formerly known as the Sears Tower! We viewed the city from high above. It was a bit overcast, but it made for some cool pictures!

Inside the tower there was a food court, where we decided to stop and grab something to eat. We ended up at the most unlikely of places: Do-Rite Donuts and Chicken! I personally loved the idea of it, but I did not think my mom would go for it. Surprisingly, she did! We split an egg biscuit with jalapenos, pico de gallo, and cheese and an old fashion donut -which was heavenly! So good in fact, we went back the next day for breakfast! And neither of us are typically crazy about donuts, but this hit different!

And then we were off to see The Bean!

I can't tell you all how magical it was seeing The Bean! It was more than just a fun, touristy excursion. It felt euphoric! Like I had faced obstacle after obstacle and won! It was a strong sense of pride in myself! I had pushed through my anxieties and faced challenges head on and reached my goal! It was such a surreal experience, I could have stayed there a lot longer.

It was enormous! Which.... duh, right? But its surprising all the same! Lol! We were following Mapquest's direction and getting closer and closer. We began to get to a park like area, but The Bean was not in sight yet. As we continued, I happened to look to my right and about lost it! There! There was The Bean! I could see part of it! And the closer we got, the more impressive it became!

My mom -while a trooper- was not having that same experience, so we took some time to take pictures and then decided to head on our way.
Picture
It was an eventful afternoon! And by the end of the night, I was EXHAUSTED! We grabbed a quick dinner and then relaxed in our hotel room, watching Friends. Not a bad way to spend the evening!

I fell asleep feeling tired but so proud of myself! I had planned this every step of the way, from the flight to the hotel, to the events of the day! It was a rewarding feeling! Thank you for reading! And stay tuned for part 2!
