Greetings! 

You girl is in the Windy city writing this blog! Whoot! Can you believe it!? This was my first time planning a trip -so it was a super short trip- but it has been a fun one! Just me and my mama! 

It has had a few hiccups along the way, but nothing we couldn't handle! 

​I will be posting more about this trip next week! 

We have been having some unseasonably cooler weather -which I'll take while it lasts! At least it is not sweltering! And it was perfect to shoot this look, which is comprised of heavier fabrics. 

This bag though, it is the real star of the show! 

The hoops I jumped through to get it were aggravating. It is from Kate Spade and was originally priced a lot higher than I felt I could justify on a bag. But, but, but... she's soooo cute! Well, I kept seeing it pop up on ads on social media, and finally one day a Betsy Johnson version went on sale! I scooped it up without a second though. 

I wish I had given it that second thought, because it seems that the site I bought it through was not actually Betsy Johnson, but a scam site. A month went by, and it finally said it was delivered, but.... I had no bag. I went back and forth with the 'company' to no avail. 

Finally, I just accepted that I had been had. 

Well, I kept seeing ads and finally clicked on the Kate Spade version. What do you know? It was on sale! I was more hesitant this time, but I did go ahead a get it! And this time the experience was much better! It showed up for one thing! Lol! I got texts and emails as to where it was in the process every step of the way. And now I am very happy with my baby! 

So, kids, be careful out there! If it seems too good to be true, it probably is! But don't give up!

When I paired these two pieces together, I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. 

I also did not expect my whole fam to like it too! My dad commented that it was a cute fit. MY MOM liked it y'all! And I don't mean like, like she was on the fence but could see the vision like, I mean she LIKED it! That's how I knew it was a win! 

This look is a fun, perfect-for-summer, look and you better believe I am about to be wearing this all summer!

Mixing prints is one of my all-time favorite style techniques! It can be an easy way to breathe new life into your closet and get more wear out of your clothes. It definitely makes an outfit interesting! If I am being completely honest, when it comes to mixing prints, I find it really hard to put into words how to do it. 

If you are unsure of how to mix prints, my best advice would be to just play around with it. Some prints are easier to mix than others. Sometimes the colors used in the pieces make a difference. Sometimes, like in this case, a small simple belt can really tie the prints together! 

For this look, I think not bringing into too many additional colors and accessories, really helped a lot. I intentionally tried to keep the accessories either white or silver and kept them minimal to let the prints and the colors I did include, have their moment. 

If you are unsure of what to do, I really recommend just playing around with it. Get feedback from friends and family. Wear an outfit out somewhere like to run a quick errand and see how it makes you feel. I know when I first began blogging and finding my specific style, it could be a little nerve wracking. Heck, even still, sometimes I have to text a friend a picture of a look and get feedback or -ya know- make sure I'm not loosing my mind! 

But like with anything, the more you do it, the more comfortable and natural it becomes! 

(And if you try it and it's not your thing, that is perfectly okay too!)

Styling is meant to be enjoyed! However you choose to do it!

Hello all and Happy Friday! 

Did you miss me?! I took a little bit of a break this week. Between work and getting ready for a trip next week, I have felt a bit overwhelmed, so I allowed myself to take a break from everything for a couple of days. 

And if I'm being honest, I hated it! Lol. This is my fun job! I don't like to miss it. But it does not pull in as much money yet, so for this week I had to focus on the less fun job -which by the way is also a good job, I'm grateful for! It's just not my passion.

On to today's look! We are quickly approaching full on summer in both months and temperatures. This look screams summer in my opinion! From the scarf headband to the chain belt, to the tie up sandals, and sparkly top. It is full of summer fun! 

You guys probably already know, but I love the juxtaposition of pairing the fun, sparkly top with a more relaxed, casual pant. In this case, these cozy camo jorts! They are the moment! They are giving 2000s Gwen Stefani! 

This look is mix-match of fun elements that work together to create a great summer look! The small pop of neon yellow completes the look perfectly! Now, it's time to find some ice cream and go shopping! lol!

This is just going to be a quick post for today! 

​Today's look is definitely a step into summer!

Of course, the strapless top and longer shorts -or jorts- are certainly summer staple pieces! But also, this cute heart chain belt from Roam and Dwell is going to be in constant rotation this summer! 

Ya'll know I love a good chain belt! And this one is especially cute. I may go as far as to call it a statement belt! It brings its own energy to the look!

Hello and Happy Monday! 

And welcome back! Today I am here to share with you, one of my favorite combos! These bright pink trousers with a jersey-like top! Complete with stacked necklaces and chain belts! 

Not only do I like this combination of pieces, but I love the color combinations as well. 

The pink and blue together is an interesting dynamic. It is simple, yet bold! 

I also really appreciate the juxaposition of a sporty, jersey-like pieces paired with a more tailored piece, like the trousers. 

Typically, you'd expect to pair jerseys to go with shorts or jeans, and blazers or button downs with trousers. But fashion 'rules' are being broken more and more often nowadays! 

Which is just fine with me! =D 

I enjoy pairing pieces together that you may not expect! You never know what you will create when you do that! 

And of course, as with any look, accessorizing is one of the most important details! 

For this look, I stacked several necklaces together, including a multicolored choker necklace. And a chain belt to complete the look. I am really proud of how this look came out! And I am ready to wear it out and about all spring long! =D

Hello all and Happy Friday! 

I hope you guys are doing well and enjoying your week! 

I just have a quick post for today. 

You may remember these cute jorts from earlier this year. I styled them a bit dressier for that post, but I wanted to restyle them for summer. 

I really wanted a more tomboyish feel for this particular look.

I like being girlie and incorporating dresses and skirts, don't get me wrong, but I also have a bit of a sporty side -style wise- that I like to indulge as well. 

I felt the crop tee with the jorts was great for spring/summer, and I added the oversized, orange button up for some cover up.

Plus, it adds that pop of color that I love so! 

I FINALLY got to style this multicolored bag with this look! I have been waiting for the right outfit to pair it with, and this was it! It looked so good against the orange button up!

I completed the look with loafers and some layered necklaces for a little more of a polished look. Special thanks to my mama for letting me borrow one of the necklaces! I have found that I need to be on the lookout for more silver jewelry. I do not have very much as it turns out!

Hello all! Happy Monday! 

What a weekend! Friday night I went to an event called Superfine, which was part exhibit, part fashion show, exploring the styling theme of dandyism! It was a blast! I was surrounded by fabulous styling as well as learning all about the history and technique of dandyism styling. It certainly began with African Americans as a form of resistance. It can still be that as well but also has a more modern concept of 'wear what you want.' 

It is very typically very specific in styling and attention to details. And it is what makes you feel your best. 

Which is fascinating, because that has been my style for a while! I just did not realize there was a name for it! 

A lot of looks may seem to have a lot going on, but I have a method to my madness! Sometimes it is hard for me to articulate accurately what that is. Which is why I write! But I enjoy mixing and matching pieces, colors, prints, materials!

Take this look for example! I have this cute graphic sweater, paired with a bright pink, polka dot bag, and polka dot stockings. I like the mixing of prints -a lot! I love how the bag -though small- is mighty in color! It stands out boldly against the green of the sweater. I also brought in some extra pink with my loafers, drink, and journal -yes, I am not above buying a drink to use as a prop! By the way, it was pineapple, dragon fruit lemonade and it was DELICIOUS! 

I like how there are a lot of little elements of this look that come together to really make it a LOOK! All of those elements are pieces of me! My personality, my creativity, my chaos, my ADD! But they all work together to form something really interesting! 

All that to say, I am really proud of this outfit! I'm really proud of my style and how it has really taken shape. I feel more confident in it and in myself! 

And! I am SO excited for the Met Gala tonight! Whoo hoo!  =D

​This has to be one of my favorite springtime looks! And I actually took these pictures towards the tail end of last summer! 

Everything about it screams spring/summer! The colors, the cropped tee, the midi skirt, the straw bag! 

Yes, please! 

I really love how the belt pops against this burnt orange skirt! 

This is one of my favorite belts actually, but it is constantly breaking on me! Most of the time it was a pretty easy fix, but the last time -probably when I did this shoot matter of fact- it also got tangled. Long story short, I have not had the patience to sit down and untangle it and fix it again. 

But having looked at these pictures again, my love for it is returning and it is such a great piece! I think this weekend I may pull it out and work on it! I am already thinking of looks I could create with it!
